FIFA 10 or PES 10?

I've always played the Pro Evo series since the whole Fifa vs PES came out. I just taught the gameplay was far more realistic and more enjoyable to play.

But with the game being not much diffirent the past 3 years and with the online having so many problems, I'm thinking I might give FIFA 10 a try this year.

I played FIFA09 in my mates a few times and I actually liked it and heard the online is perfect.

Just wondering is there any other Pro Evo fans jumping ships this year and can FIFA fans tell me how good the game is?

FIFA 09 was exceptional. Before that Pro Evo was king but Konami got lazy. I will play the demos of both and make my mind up with those.

Always been a Pro Evo man myself. Picked up both last year and Pro Evo has been gathering dust on the shelf since. Ill play both demos but at the minute ill be more inclined to pick up Fifa!

Pro Evo player for years... my mates wont play anything else... they call the Playstation the "Pro Evo Box"

Tried Fifa 09 this year and love all the features... except the gameplay...

Hopefully Konami realise they're falling behind this year, it seems they've taken fans ideas on board, but this is probably the last year Il give pro evo my preference if they dont change!

I've been a Pro Evo player for years and last year was the first year that I bought both. I am still playing Pro Evo 2009 but haven't touched FIFA in months.

I'll be getting Pro Evo 2010 this year. It looks good from previews and the word is they have fixed many of the issues, including the online lag.

some of the new stuff should convert a truck load of pes fans who were concerned with certain aspects previously

pro evo has turned into a high scoring arcade game tbh, fifa is ruling the roost as the sim these days, and '10 just enforces that even more

Have they gotten rid of that stupid "skills" thing with the right analogue stick that has to be the most retarded thing to ever appear in a football game.

Pro evo has fallen apart but pro evo 5 still has better gameplay than fifa 09 and i dont think FIFA will ever loose the arcady kids game feel that haunts it, it just doesnt feel like a proper game no matter how good it looks.

Every year i have seen people saying this year FIFA has over taken pro evo but it has just never happened FIFA never got good its just pro evo got really really bad.

Best thing konami could do was get pro evo 5 update the graphics and it would still be miles better than fifa. (all based on 09 of course )

I have pro evo 09 and fifa 09 upstairs neither are worth a play they are such poor football sims.

Dont think ill buy either this year.

theyve introduced 360 degree dribbling with the left stick, which no footie game had before (something i find astonishing considering the length of time we've had analog sticks for) which will keep you happy

see this i dont understand. fifa hasnt been arcadey since they switched to the new engine 4 years ago, while pro evo has switched to the arcade side of things in the same time period. fifa is a sim, pro evo is an arcade game

I think i'm going to play both of the demos before hand and base my decision on that. I've heard before that the demo's are not the final version of the game, anybody know if this true?

Because its in no way like playing a match it looks like a game on sky which is what they have gone for but thats not football sim. FIFA is a football sim in the same way COD4 is a realistic shooter.

When a 12 year old can destroy you because he has learnt off all the tricks ( you can do combo's of tricks for god sake if thats not arcadey i dont know what is ) rather than using proper football skills of passing and moving thats a arcade game.

Pro evo 5 was the last football sim ( pro evo 6 on ps2 was ok) neither any of the new fifa's or pro evo's are sims.

A good football game is all about gameplay not graphics. My old ps2 version of pro evo 5 is better than anything on a next gen machine.

For me, it all changed with FIFA08. I was a peshead right up to pro evo 5. The last 2 pro evo games have been OVER simplistic, in comparison to fifa. Pro has become the game for the layman, pure arcade bs - FIFA is definitely much closer to a simulation... IMO of course.

Anyway - Im an equal opportunities playa and will try out both.. then i'll decide which one to persevere with!

can some of you pesheads tell me how the game has evolved in the last 3 releases?

If, you feel, it has evolved very little (which is my opinion), will you be content if it were to make similar strides in the next 3 releases? Most pes fans fans will be happy with this - i just don't understand why!?!?

No you didnt, that was just a point of my own i was making about football games that even though fifa looks way better an old game like pro evo 5 is a million miles ahead in terms of gameplay.

Just because pro evo changed to a terrible game doesnt mean FIFA got better it just means pro evo got worse.

Its hasnt in fact it has taken massive strides backwards its more like ISS now than pro evo.

I wont be happy until they totally remake the game im never happy with games that make small improvments but overall the game doesnt really change yet a new game gets released every year.

I have a hard time enjoying any soccer game and I think its because I play soccer. I get so frustrated and Im always yelling at the players I have no control over. Like: "Why did you make that run you idiot? go over there!!!". I still think it is impossible to program the split second decisions a thinking footballer has to make on the pitch. The players all seem to run on designated tracks unless something unusual happens. It just annoys me most of the time. My roommate said he is getting Fifa '10 so I'll be playing that one I guess. I won't purchase a soccer game though, they're all gash in my opinion. The Fifa soundtrack is usually awesome though!!!

I enjoyed PES 5 and 6 greatly. Played them loads and loved them. The animations in the new PES games are terrible, the players run like they are headless chickens on rails. Another massive gripe I had was the fact that you could have a player with 99 speed and ahead of the defender and the defender will always catch up with you.

I tried Fifa 08 and thought it was really bad, not the graphics, the gameplay but Fifa 09 just clicked, the animations, through balls that worked and more realistic player attributes, e.g. C Ronaldo and Eto'o actually faster than other players. The shooting still feels a bit floaty in Fifa but at least they are improving and not stagnating. This was the first year when I tried the demo for both but only got one of them i.e Fifa, every other year it was PES only and last year both.

I still play games of PES 5 with my brother but in terms of overall footy game Fifa has trumped PES and PES has it all to do this year. And every year PES fans are like, this will be the year when it gets better, while Fifa is actually delivering, its not perfect but its getting there.

Once upon a time this was true, wouldn't put FIFA near any console I owned until I downloaded the '09 demo, gameplay has come on in leaps and bounds and finally compliments the better graphics and presentation they have had for years.

The online games and player updates in FIFA absolutely pi$$ all over Pro Evo too, a huge factor these days.

Even whe PES was unquestionably better, each new installment took a certain amount of time to get used to. If anyone made a decison based purely on the demo then it was an ill-informd decision.

I struggle to really play PES 09 but I can't get into Fifa at all. Horrible situation to be in.

I was Pro Evo ever since the ISS days however for the past two years I've been getting FIFA and I have to say I haven't looked back.

I really enjoyed the older PES games on the PS2 (especially PES5) but the online element of PES along with tired old ideas kept annoying me...like everyone is saying, Konami got lazy.

I like the idea of Live Season, I think it adds a lot to the reality of the game.

I would choose Fifa. The reason behind fifa getting better in the last 2 games is because 2 of the lead developers from pro evo are now working for EA and that is why fifa has improved and Pro Evo has got really bad.
