Mac Make-up Brush set

    Hi all,

New to this area so hi everyone :)

I was just wondering could anyone offer me any advice.
I have wanted to get myself a decent set of make up brushes for a while now. I was looking at a set of mac make-up brushes in a local market/shop type thing today. The lady selling them is trying to gauge the interest in the brand before ordering more stuff but she has a few make up bits in stock.
It is the full brush set, 30 brushes I think, in the leather roll up and everything. The asking price is €75.
Now, I know that mac make up brushes are considered one of the best brands out there and I know that they are expensive so the €75 does not bother me too much.

My main problem is, how do I know they are genuine? I know there are plenty of fake sets to be bought on ebay, at a cheaper price, so how do I know I am not being ripped off? €75 is a lot for fake brushes!

Thanks for reading, and for any advice offered.
Apologies if I have posted in the wrong place, mods please feel free to move.
    Thanks

I wouldnt buy them If I were you, there are quite a few Mac knockoffs going around. If you are looking t invest in some decent products I would go to a reputable place. Brown Thomas has a Mac counter that does the brushes....do you really think you would need 30 of them though?

    Hi.
30 is a lot alright! Can't imagine anyone would need them all. It was just the set that caught my eye, it is a nice set.
I just hate the thought of being ripped off, as does everyone I can imagine.

Mac make up brushes cost 20 - 40 euro each so 30 would cost at least e600. Those are fake Mac make up brushes. Ebay is full of them. Buy them if you like them, but they aren't Mac quality.

crownbrush.co.uk do excellent brushes, every type you can think of is there! I've got a few, they're very high quality and decently priced. Plenty of reviews of them out there, most people agree they are high-end quality.

Or if you know anyone going to the states or through duty free (preferably in the UK: cheaper again) they could pick you up some geunine mac brushes. :)

I bought a set of 30 off ebay for 40. Obviously not real. I have only used about 5 or 6 at most. They seem to be good brushes. I have a mac travel set that i got in airport and compared i cant really tell the difference apart from the size. But €75 is a bit much.

Was actually just trawling the net for Mac brushes myself today! I reckon I'll buy ones off Ebay. I know they're fakes but I don't mind if they're alright quality. To be honest, paying €45 for a foundation brush with MAC doesn't interest me in the slightest! I'd rather have a fake for a tenner!!

    Hi all,
jusy had a quick look on ebay and the excact same set is available for €30, much better priced for fake ones! Think there is 24, not 30 so sorry for that mistake.
I'll check out that crown brush site, thanks for the recommendation.

Thought the price seemed to be good true, so thanks for all the replies.

    DONT BUY THEM!!
My friend ordered "MAC" brushes off the net and I couldnt believe it when she gave me them, they were like a value pack of brushes out of the poundshop!.I was disgusted, but what do you expect for €50 (thats how much I paid)..Seriously though its worth investing in some good brushes even if it means you paying that extra bit..You have to have an account as far as ino,but Salon Services sell good brushes,ok no fancy name brands but there good and do the job..:)

They're fake. MAC brushes aren't EVER sold in sets with those leather roll up things. Avoid them if you're looking for real MAC one.

I bought a MAC foundation brush at the weekend in BT2 and its brilliant. Much better quality than any of the brushes I've used in the past. I usually dont wear foundation at all but I've a few functions coming up, where my pale and pasty complexion will look a bit out of place, so I decided to splash out. Definately dont buy the knock offs, because you'll be getting what you pay for.

    Foundation brush

    Powder/Bronzer Brush (the big mofo)

    Blusher brush

    Eyeshadow brush x 2

    Eyeshadow shader brush (for socket)

    Slanted brush (for eyeliner/lip)

    Concealer brush

So that's 7/8 brushes. That's all you need. Having 24 brushes is a waste of money no matter what quality as you won't use them all.

Buy good quality brushes and look after them well and you'll have them years. I've brushes that are 6 years old and they're still doing the job!
