    Be able to cash out

A triumph. I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS. College fees paid for and all credit card debt paid off. My biggest fear was blowing a roll and not being able to pay for any of those things which was a very realistic possibility given the process of building my roll consisted of plenty of drunk sessions!

    August Goal:
Slip back into the role of being a purely recreational player and play a few SNGs and MTTs when bored. I don't want to piss away another year in college and have to realise that there's more to life than raising, checking, calling and (rarely) folding.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

If 95% of others still in college took this on board they'd be doing very well!

Goal - play 60k+ hands this month

    Win Macau ME

    Win Lotto

(two outta three will be enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 168 ✭✭johnp23

    This is spot on imo.

I stopped playing any real poker in or around the end of March - played nothing apart from two home games with friends, which i smore a social occasion than serious poker. The reasoning behind the break from poker was to get my PhD submitted, but the past few months without poker have actually been really enjoyable. I think its made me realise that I am not cut out for grinding cash games, I might just end up playing a few MTTs every now and again.

Anyhow, my August goal is simply to play on Boyles to gain X amount of points for the extra chips at the IPO if I do decide to come back from England to play it.

Win a decent tourney on ipoker and turn my sharkcope figures into something sexy wit a lil shark beside it would be cool.
Get made redundant from my sinking business, get my redundancy cheque, head to vegas for november, stick remaining monies on red when entering first casino....If win head for coke and hookers and watch wsop ft and if i lose will get a group of heavy weight backers and streak wsop ft for a nice chunk of change.(think this is doable)
Get back to dungannon and meet georgina whom i fell in love wit last night when out on a stag.If anyone may know her reward may be offered for all valuable/used information.

Most of all this august get back flying fit and injury free for 1 month plz

    Win APAT World Amateur Champs

id like to get platnium again but i can't see myself playing cash too much this month, just dosent appeal to me so...

    1. Play 250 $12 45 man turbos on stars and be in profit.

See alot of regulars in the 180s also have a few of these open aswel so gonna give them a go.

    2. become more aggressive in mtts with a 30bb stack.

i usually nit up and end up waiting til i have 20bb and then waiting for a reship hand.

How have you got on with these? I found them far too random. They are a massive crapshoot on the bubble. I played a bunch of the $6 versions and they were just as bad. The structure is awful and you'd need a massive roll to show a profit in these. I did about 30 buy-ins between wild swings before giving up. The only way to win one is to go on a massive heater at just the right time, IMO. I gave up on them when my roll was nearly busted, and I won't be going back.

The 180-mans are better, but still very random. And again you need a run of luck at just the right time to get a decent cash in them, which means if it doesn't happen you need a massive roll. I think ~150 buyins would be needed, and that would be better off invested elsewhere.

I like the $11 normal 180-mans, but they take an age to fill up. The $16 18-mans are ok, but the standard is way, way higher than the $6.50s. It's much harder to FT these and definitely harder to cash. If only there was a $10-$12 version of these. I might email stars and request one. You never know, they might do it.

Could you let me know if you find a suitable game?

Play at least 100 MTT of which at least 50 with buy in 100$ + online and make at least 3k profit.

Play 3 MTT live and have fun.

Play much less SNG as they are not much fun and could be using that time in a better way than griding.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17 Brian_N

    1. Not to play anymore MTTs (especially ones I'm not rolled for:o)
    2. Make enough money at 10NL and 10PLO to move up in september.
    3. Buy some tracking software by the end of the month.
    4. Clear my full tilt deposit bonus.

    1) Pass my tax exams in mid-August :(

    2) Play 5k hands and be in profit.

    3) Play live at least once.

Again not concentrating on poker too much this month as exams are the priority. Once they're done though I plan to ease myself back into the grind.

    My goals:
    - Get Omaha manager installed and learn how to use it
    - Play 2500 hands at $25PLO

Nice and simple to start off with or at least it would be if i could figure out how to install Omaha manager without putting my fist through the screen in frustration.
