Because the 2litre bottle will have been open longer than the 1 litre carton, on average, so will have spoiled more by the time you get to the bottom half of it, compared to if you just opened a fresh 1 litre carton when the other expired.

YES. It's disgusting. I'm too young so I can only imagine how good milk would taste like out of a glass bottle.

Seconds old, warm, creamy and unpasteurized straight from the cows.

    Nom Nom Nom!!!!!!!!

Or, cold and unpasteurized poured over a big bowl of coco-pops.

Or unpasteurized used to make banania.

Basically what im saying is this... Milk tastes soooooo much better unpasteurized!

Oh c'mere till I tell you about Banania, tis the bounty of the gods.

    Amazing stuff...

It's a French cocoa based cereal drink (think complain but tasty) that has banana four in it.

Most french kids have it for breakfast with a croissant or pan o chocolate.

    comes in boxes like this!

Definitely agree. unpasteurized is best. Anything else, just tastes as if it has been watered down. It's hard to beat a nice cold glass of unpasteurized milk.

Not an issue in any industrialized country.

Also, RAW Milk parlours are held to higher standards than "treated" milk parlours.

Yes RAW milk contains pathogens, but they are in very small ammounts nad have been proven to cause very few, if any, problems in healthy humans.

This is gonna sound mank but it's the best part.

There are always lottle blobs wet power that didnt dissolve properly in the bottom of the bowl (oh yeah, you drink it from a bowl) and you use the last piece of your croissant to mop these little blobs up.

    NOM NOM NOM...........

Might go make so now actually...

I read somewhere that its got to do with UV lights getting through to the milk in plastic bottles and alters the taste of the milk. I can't drink milk from a plastic bottle makes me feel ill

Sunlight degrades milk, tetra pak keeps out sunlight.

One question I'd like to know the answer to is why are milk cartons in the west a different shape to those in Dublin? Any cartons I've seen in Dublin where the shorter avonmore type.

Yes, it does. It tastes manky from the plastic container.

Also, Coke tastes better from a can than from a plastic bottle, but better from a glass bottle than either of those.

I dunno about that. I don't know myself, but ppl are saying that glass bottled milk tastes grand.

Also, the weird taste I get off plastic bottled milk is a taste of plastic.

Probably due to one using cane sugar and the other using High Fructose Corn Syrup.

I buy the 2 litre plastic bottle milk because its cheaper but i only put it in my tea! I have to buy the tetra pack when im having a nice glass of milk with my dinner. The plastic bottle tastes mank. Blech.

Does the 2 litre milk not be laying around for ages? If you only use it in tea?

+1 Tetra Pak all the way. There's definitely a taste of plastic of the 2 litre bottles

Yeah, American Coca Cola is fierce manky stuff, when I'm out there I drink Pepsi as it is closer to our Coca Cola and much different from Irish pepsi also. Another thing I've noticed re: the Chinese coke is some pubs are now selling Energise as Lucozade and giving the explanation "shur, it the same thing" when it most certainly is not.

When I was younger and we had a milkman service from Golden Vale and our house used to get a 2 litre bottle while my neighbour used to get the two litre tetra cartons, I always refused minerals for a glass of their Milk instead as to me it tasted absolutely special.

I drank real milk from the parlour when we were staying at a Farm Cottage in Clare a few years ago and after one sip I had the owner bring us down a litre every day and not a drop of the precious liquid was wasted, absolutely handsome and nourishment in itself. I took around 6 litres home with me and it was nice. All of Ireland used this practically up until the seventies and it is being used in all Dairy farm households today.

What is wrong with peoples health today is we have no immune systems built up because we live in total hygiene with no exposure to dirt leading to explosive immune systems (Hayfever) and we are missing out on the good nasties because of fear of some badish ones. I could say a pint of real milk contains all the goodness of milk and there is no need for crap like danone bifidus crapus eseenisus or whatever as you are getting a mix of proper good and bad bacteria.

My Granny used to tell us as kids never to mix milk taken from a bottle with milk from a carton, could never figure out why, She was brought up on a farm where they would get it direct from a churn,
