Most recommend converse all stars. I got fake ones in dunnes for under €10, just shoe type ones, not past the ankle.

Sorry, I did not meant to avoid the ankle ones. I just meant the ones I got were the small ones, they did not have the ankle ones in dunnes and I prefer the low ones. It is the flat rock solid thin sole that is the advantage. I doubt that thin canvas on the ankle offers any benefit/support.

    Mine are like these

You can pick up cheapo runners with flat hard soles with no heels in many shops.

Just remember it is not the style, it is the solid flat sole that is important.

I think Hanley even said before that a lot of lifting records were set by lads wearing cons!

Yeah I did. Cons are a solid all around training shoe. I've had mine like 4 years at this stage and they're still going strong. They're tattered and in bits, but perfectly servicable still.

There's an outlet centre in Kildare, if anyone fancies a spin.
    Discounted Nike shop.

    Similar ones in Kilarney.

    Well the same one's $40 here; http://www.liftinglarge.com/search.aspx?find=singlet&log=false&category=17

Not sure of shipping, but it's not gonna be that expensive. And ya never order only one thing from sites like that either anyway!!

It amazes me the vitriol those five fingers get.

Frankly, it makes me think less of the people who slag them.

Can we start a new thread about this, please?

I've heard, for instance, that there's a croc badge owners club.
    Is this true?
