I recently watched Raging Bull and the Batman films and I was wondering what damage is actually done to the body when doing those roles? De Niro put on about 4 stone in 4 months and Bale lost 4 stone in a few months for The Machinist and then had to quickly put back on weight for Batman (46kg in 6 months).

Obviously Bale's is more impressive but what damage has he done potentially?

    Intresting question .

Denzil Washington had to pile the pounds on for his role in the Taking of Pelham 123 yet looked fairly slimish on the Johnaton Ross show on friday.
