Best Stargate Character (SG1 & Atlantis)

My overall favorite would have to be O'Neill. The man is just a legend.

Teal'c is by far the most badass character in the whole show. He's fairly handy with 2 P-90's in both arms.

McKay is brilliant in Atlantis, very funny when he's complaining or slagging Sheppard

daniel would be my favourite, quality actor in shanks although I did much prefer the geeky wimp he was in the earlier seasons than the muscled he-man he turned into towards the end.

T'ealc develops his character the most i think.

Shanks as an actor though is unquestionable. He does a bunch. A lot of it isnt even as Jackson. Im thinking Holiday, Legacy and Lifeboat. But he's also pretty good in Need and through season 6 while he's dead.

the episode where he had a load of different personalities trapped in his body was fantastic, really solidified his position for me as best actor on the show.

good news on that: I note from Shank's imdb he will be in the 2 part pilot for Universe.

Wrote 2 episodes: Resurrection, and Evolution. And he directed the episode Double Jeopardy

i kinda lost my

for the stargate franchise after atlantis, so i dont remember any of the episode names any more

still, it does mean in a year or two i'll be able to rewatch them all almost fresh

hard to say, i think mckay, its juat gotta be him, and david hewlett is a brilliant actor, to bad we only got 5 seasons of him,

second would have to be O'Neilll with 2 Ls

special mention to weir, i dunno why, but i really liked her,

true. Ive found some through hulu that Ive never even seen (shock) or either its been so long since I saw it, i had completely forgotten about the episode.

i always find it nice to avoid shows i love for a few years, then watch them all in a big marathon when im sick or bored, preferably dying sick in bed

My DH likes O'Neill for some reason. He made the show according to him.
Vala was one of my favourite characters, I liked McKay too.

Hard to separate Jack and Daniel. Daniel in earlier seasons then Jack later on.

My favourite character from SG1 is Daniel. I just love him. He was always a geek, he never lost his passion!
In Atlantis it has to be Sheppard and Beckett. Beckett was just so moral and always tried to do the right thing. Sheppard on the other hand could take the tough decisions and do what had to be done.
My favourite female character is Carter. I think she is a fantastic role model. "Just because my repproductive organs are on the inside instead of the outside doesn't mean I cant handle whatever you can handle!" Classic!!! She rocks!

O'Neill (anderson) is SG no question of it. But Jackson is far and away the best actor, as mentioned lifeboat was a great episode.

O'Neill followed by Teal'C, Daniel Jackson, Carter, McKay and Rush. In that order.

Rush might creep up higher though, he's seriously the best thing going for Universe imo.

Sg1 Jackson - loved his geekyness in the first few seasons, and then he got muscles, a new pair of glasses and became all macho! It was great from my perspective!

SGA McKay & Zelenka - McKay's bumbling genius coupled with underappreciated zelenka make a good team.

Watching back some of the Atlantis episodes and it honestly now feels like a spoof type show.

O'neill for me made SG1 but Jackson was the better actor. Rush is a fantastic actor and a great asset to SGU but we'll see how he develops (if!) he develops over the next few seasons to come up to the Shanks level.

Some great posts here! Hard to be specific, but some of my favourites...

Beckett in Sunday. He was always a great character, but that episode (and the ending of it) solidified his place as a legend. It was a pity, though, that they brought him back in a deus ex machina. I'd rather they just hadn't killed him and kept the character as normal!

McKay was always great. Kinda annoying in his early SG1 appearances, but that was mainly cos he was annoying a leading character (Carter). He was great in Atlantis, though!

Rush is the single best thing in SGU. Carlyle just nails the character perfectly. I loved the early episode when he complains about his father being a shipyard worker in Glasgow. Brilliant.

Young is gritty, which I like, but I can't help feel that he's always trying to be SGU's answer to Edward James Olmos. He'll never pull off the Adama like Olmos. Otherwise, great character.

Like others above, Greer is another good one from SGU. Slightly psychotic, but mainly great! The actor (dunno his name) does it well.

Most under appreciated characters:
- Syler: Always a legend! I love how he was a stuntman on the show and they just made a role for him!
- Zalenka: I think his role was best summed up in "The Last Man" when the hologram Rodney was explaining to Sheppard about what happened and quiped: "Zalenka might have been there too"
- Davis: How did that guy's character last all then years without a promotion? It's crazy, really, when you think about Carter's meteoric rise up the ranks by comparison (Cpt - Col) while he stayed at Major...

Absolute best character, though? It has to come down to Teal'c and O'Neill. Shanks was the best actor of SG1 (as mentioned above), but for pure hilarity and genius, the two of them win for me. Teal'c as a character really developed over the years from the hard Jaffa to a loveable scamp indeed... O'Neill, well, what can you say? One liner gold! Especially when he was interacting with Ba'al (Abyss, Zero Hour). I don't think there's been a better episode than "Window of Opportunity" to show the two of them at their best!

I dunno if I can pick between those two... So many years of genius...

O'Neill made the franchise as far as I'm concerned.

Honorary mention goes to Daniel, T'ealc, McKay and Sheppard.

Vala was the worst character in Stargate imho and that's taking Ronan and Teela into account.
