Brawns almost nowhere, hard to call how the top 10 is going to turn out.

Would like to have seen Massa get out of the car a bit quicker. Never nice seeing 2 ambulances arriving before the driver has gotten out.

Yeah, but as Eddie said, his legs could have been trapped under the steering column.
    Brawn disappointing.

you could see something hit him before the accident, something jumped up and hit his helmet, very scary how he just drove off

    really hope he's okay

Aye, fingers crossed that's all it is. The way they just hauled the car away suggests he's alright.

Brawn not going great, reckon it'll be about 4th/5th for Button in the race tomorrow. Tough call for pole.

    i'll chance vettel for pole.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,685 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

wonder did something come of the Brawn car which hit Massa, Rubins did say he thought he lost something which effected his cars handling, spring or something

Sounds like he is okay according to Eddie Jordan

It looks like it might have been a suspension part from the Brawn that hit him.

No results while the quali finished, Alonso pole !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,526 ✭✭✭dor83

Those times were from before we lost the signal so I we can't be sure who is where, this is a bit crazy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 706 ✭✭✭BoardsRanger

Ha! First time i have watched all of qualifying and not known who the top 3 are.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

The drivers will have their times from their teams, so it seems Alonso is 1st. Fingers crossed. :)

Funny watching alonso going round asking the times lol

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

Button's swearing was also great. :P Is there anywhere to catch the interviews/press conferences now?

It's just back now here. Very embarassing for the race organisers. Alonso, Vettel, Webber and Hamilton are the top four.

Did the timing work for the last lap? Are just using the best time they have for each driver. /puts tinfoil hat on!

They'll definitely have a secondary timing system in F1.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

This happened every few races back in the 90s (though never at the end) and Brundle reckoned at that stage they had two back-ups running.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,562 ✭✭✭leeroybrown

Presumably they're using a computerised transponder-based system as the primary. The obvious backups to have would be an accurately timed infra-red beam as a secondary and a high speed camera as a final method.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

As far as I know the backups run the transponder-type systems, but independently of the primary.

Give it over with cost cuts its some guy with a stopwatch! :p
The BBC feed went as well for a few seconds they must be having some gremlins there!!
    lol at EJ's secret source!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

Yup, BBC feed went and the stereo sound kept cutting and switching to mono then back again, so there's a nice night's work ahead for someone. :P

Am i the only one who thinks that its weird how Alonso told Mr. Jordan that he would be on pole then the timing system craps-out and magically Alonso is on pole?

Let the conspiracy theory's begin! ha ha

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 629 ✭✭✭cashmni1

Pitty about Alonso. His first victory was there in the dust bowl, in 2003 - I ws there for that.
    Come on Kimi !!:):p
I'll be hard to listen to Hamilton (and his entourage) if he wins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,448 ✭✭✭ongarite

Great race from Hamilton. Fastest when he needed to be all race and didn't make a single mistake all race.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 968 ✭✭✭ODD-JOB

Great race , never really expected Hamilton to do it !
Eddie jordan got it right with his predictions all weekend :)
What a crazy season , next race could see Mc Larens back to the mid-field.... much better than the predicible seasons over the last decade.

See ya around Piquet ,.... and welcome to Alegursuari - who set some really decent lap times sporadically .
he may not have produced a great result , but he did pull good times out on certain individual laps !

    whoop !

Hahaha, thats quite funny. EJ was goin' on about Alonso being very confident that he was going to be on pole.

I really wish the BBC would put the F1 forum show on the web for viewers outside the UK. I'm guessing that they can't show the race coverage for contractual reasons etc, but once the race is over and they're just chatting and doing interviews it would be nice to see that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

Two races in a row I predicted the winner on the Thursday, I gotta start gambling more.

Great result for Hamilton and Raikkonen. Wouldn't be very surprised to see Webber promoted to second later on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,822 ✭✭✭EvilMonkey

Good race from Hamilton, Kimi Alonso was unlucky too.
The advantage the kers cars have is they can qualify heavy and make up the places they miss out on at the start and end up on a better strategy than the cars that qualify at the front.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

Don't think Alonso was going to be too near the front even if his pitstop had gone ok, still v unlucky though.

Alonso said al ready he wasn't going for a win. We will never know now. Hamilton didn't put a foot wrong this race. Loved to have seen a bit more fight for first place. But that is how this season goes.

Renault possibly suspended from next race for running with a loose wheel.
Overreaction from officials following Surtees/Massa incidents?
Kimi and Webber in trouble too, personally i think they were racing incidents and dont need to be punished.

Not sure about it being an overreaction. In very close proximity to two such incidents and a wheel is much bigger than a spring. Also, a marshall was killed a couple of years ago by a tire that came off a car in a collision. You can be disqualified for continuing to drive an unsafe car. Wouldn't suspend perhaps but definately some action.

    🤪

Its not the first time a wheel has come off, or the first time a wheel has been loose and a car has had to go back and have it fixed. I dont remember a punishment.
If they miss the next race its an overreaction. Why not punish Brawn for having loose parts on their car then?
If they get a slap on the wrist, fine fair enough.

    Wont happen

If you look closely at the "touch" between Vettel and Kimi you will notice that kimi got a bit of wheelspin while sandwiched between the two red bulls, His car got a bit crossed up and Vettel hit his back wheel. No more to be said about that i reckon.
    Now
    On the other hand,
Red Bull letting Webber out on top of Kimi as he was all but alongside him...!!
Webber should get a epnalty as shoud Red Bull ;)

The dart across the track before the first corner was as sudden as Webber's in Germany. And I didn't see much wrong with the pit release.

If the stewards are so adament that the team and not the driver were to blame then some constructors' points docking or something similar would be fairer IMO.

    Räikkönen cleared after post-race investigation
Kimi Räikkönen has been given no penalty after stewards looked into the incident between the Ferrari and Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel from the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
As the car of Räikkönen - which used its KERS device to maximum effect at the start - shot into the top four by Turn 1, contact with Vettel's left-front suspension eventually led to the end of the German's race.
Stewards have cleared the moment as a racing incident and no further action will be taken.

Red Bull receives reprimand for pit lane moment

Red Bull Racing has been cautioned by Hungarian Grand Prix stewards after the car of Mark Webber was released into the path of Kimi Räikkönen's Ferrari on Sunday. After a pit-stop problem had delayed Webber, the Australian was forced to dodge right to avoid contact with the Finn.
With no post-race penalties handed to Webber or fines imposed upon the team, the Milton Keynes based squad appears to have got off lightly with a simple telling off.
Ironically, the team was in similar trouble in Germany a fortnight ago when Sebastian Vettel collided with Kazuki Nakajima in the Nürburgring pit lane.

Wasnt that "Dart " across the track as you call it invloving Hamilton and Kimi ""

From where I was watching it both cars went for the gap at the same time. Kimi pulled back and Let Hamilton through.
