    Few questions...

    (1) How can I lose 0.5kg overnight BEFORE going to toilet next morning: cant be all sweat during the night can it?

    (2) Should I feel any discomfort on lower back after Deadlifts (goes after an hr)?

    (3) Been lifting for 4 months now, increasing 5% of most lifts wk on wk, is this sustainable and for how long?

    (4) Im averaging 0.5kg of a weight gain wk on wk over 4 month period, is this optimum or can/should i push this?

To number 3, keep doing it, take in the glory of noob gains :P. It will slow down, but it varies from person to person. Milk it for all its worth. Oh and i regularly change weight over night, up to a 700-800 grams actually. It's normal to be anyway

That's only half a litre of sweat like. I don't know, you lose moisture through your breath during the night as well. Can't think of anything else... spunk? :D only messin.

    Hi There

I am no expert, but here are my thoughts on the questions you posed

    (1) How can I lose 0.5kg overnight BEFORE going to toilet next morning: cant be all sweat during the night can it?

This is most likely due to dehydration. You dehydrate slightly while you sleep through sweat/breathing.

    (2) Should I feel any discomfort on lower back after Deadlifts (goes after an hr)?

I don't think that you should be feeling any lower back discomfort due to deadlifting if your form is correct. It might be an idea to deload the weights slightly and check your form. I sometimes find that I become complacent with some lifts and my form goes off slightly. Would be worth checking out IMHO.

    (3) Been lifting for 4 months now, increasing 5% of most lifts wk on wk, is this sustainable and for how long?

I think that you can sustain this increase for a while, though not indefinitely. At some stage you will plateau and will need to move to a more advanced and challenging Program to continue the gains. Are you doing the Starting Strength or Strong Lift 5x5 Programs? How long have you been doing your program?

    (4) Im averaging 0.5kg of a weight gain wk on wk over 4 month period, is this optimum or can/should I push this?

From what I have read on here and elsewhere regarding weight gain, if you are eating wholesome lean protein and low carbs, and gaining a steady 1lb week on week, there is a good chance that most of this gain is lean mass and not fat. You should keep a record of you body fat % and monitor it every 2-4 weeks to make sure that you are gaining mostly lean mass. A steady 1lb gain week on week is good going.

You could eat more calories and gain weight quicker, but I think that there would be a good chance that you would be also gaining a higher degree of fat tissue, which is probably not what you want.

I dont want to sound like I'm correcting you cos everyone should be careful with form on the DL, but I feel discomfort in my lower back (like muscle fatigue, every time I deadlift.) Similar to the discomfort I feel in the thighs and hip flexors after squatting. Or in the chest after benching.

Plus the deadlift is a pretty tough lift. Even with good technique it is hard work on the lower back.

Point taken, my bad. For me "Muscle Fatigue" means something different to "Discomfort". However, as the OP states that it goes away after a period of an hour or so, then you are more than likely correct in that OP is simply expereincing muscle fatigue, which is normally after deadlifting/squatting.

I should have be clearer with my response.
