Probably time to get this thread going. Game only five days away. Think Dublin have a great chance of getting to the semi. Think we will need to more from Dotsy this time around. Had a very quiet first half against Kilkenny but picked it up after the break.

Should be a close match. Both teams will feel they can beat the other. If Dublin can click on the day, they should pull through.

Dublin are favourites with all the bookies i've seen. Limerick haven't really played well so far this Championship whilst Dublin have done well against Kilkenny and Wexford in Leinster, so i'd say Dublin are deserving favourites at this stage. Dublin also have the better forwards Rushe, McCrabbe, O'Callaghan, and Tracey are all very good players who will chip in with scores. The speed of some of these guys could worry Limerick. Limerick alas do not have the firepower up front that Dublin have and that could be the difference. Unless Limerick put in a performance better than they've done so far in the Championship they could well lose this game. Dublin to sneak it by 2 to 3 points.

Yes sure Anthony Daly will be impressing on the Dublin squad the importance of this game. Getting to a semi-final would be huge for Dublin hurling. Opportunities like these dont come around every day.

Without our scorer-in-chief Niall Moran, Limerick are doomed. And there's no supersub Pat Tobin either to spring off the bench if things aren't going well. Dont know what his reasoning was for walking off the panel but he's worth 3-4 points in any given game. Andrew O'Shaughnessy seems to have been kidnapped before last summers championship, and replaced with a Junior A level impostor. Dublin have the forwards no doubt, Rushe, O'Callaghan, Flynn, all these guys know where the posts are. McCrabbe is the stand out midfielder this year, and almost as accurate as Joe Canning is from frees. Limerick cant afford to give away any soft frees or he will punish us. Dublin are no mugs in defence either with Hiney being particularly strong. Ross O'Carroll has also impressed me. Limerick can win it but goals will be needed, 2 at least, and i cant see this happening. Dublin by 5.

i hope limerick win(and galway of course), this is my reason >>>> http://www.rte.ie/aertel/204-01.html
although i can't see past a Dublin victory, this is great to see from a Dubin perspective, lets just hope they play good hurling and forget being arrogant and cocky and be liked by everyone, unlike their footballers . although thurles could come in handy for limerick as they have a lot of experience there compared to dublin .

I think that's huge for Limerick. While he wasn't always great against Waterford in the replay, he still got 5 points (3 from play) and was missed hugely against Laois the other day when Limerick only just did enough.

I'd hope for a Dublin win - and being greedy, I'd love to see Fallon get some gametime ahead of a (hoped for) AI semi-final too.

 Here we go again another go at the dubs. Tell me when have you seen our hurlers been cocky??? Answers on a post card please. I bet you have never seen this current team play. They are far from cocky

Please do not believe the hype the media put out about dublin. Check out were these journo's come from.

As regards the game it will take something special for dublin to beat limerick. Limerick have all the big time experience of playing in thurles and will really be up for this game and will not play as badly as last week.

Hope ross o carroll starts for dublin he is some forward when he gets going.

Just been thinking about this game abit.
Presuming galway beat waterford, if limerick beat the dubs and end up facing Kk, I dont think a kick in the teeth from KK will do their confidence any good. Especially for the young guys that have just joined the team this season.
As much as it kills me to say this, a loss against the dubs could be a good thing for limerick. Have time to regroup and get those ham sandwiches into paul browne and hand him a pair of weights. The potentials there for a couple of good forwards. But some are just abit light and can get pushed out of the way easily by the bigger guys. And of course, theres just forwards on the panel with no skill at all. (cough* dave breen *cough)
I guess we will have to wait and see. No doubt that limerick will have a go at dublin! And if they play Kk, I just hope that the whole waterford fiasco from last year doesnt come back to haunt limerick!

Have to laugh at the comments and the prospect of Dublin being an easier draw for Tipperary in the semi-final.Let me point out that Tipperary are a good team with a realistic chance of winning the Liam McCarthy but this can only be achieved by playing for the full 70 mins and Tipperary haven't exactly done so in the games they have played so far.

They had the Munster Final wrapped up at half time and let Waterford get into it.Waterford I believe are a team gone back a bit while Dublin are progressing and getting stronger and stronger.

And the Dubs being cocky...get real.Dublin have made a lot of progress but we haven't won a Leinster title and are far from cocky. This Dublin team is a modest bunch of lads playing for the county and are far far less hated than our football team. When has anybody complained about the Dublin hurling team??Rival supporters are only beginning to take notice of Dublin but don't consider us a strong threat yet.Well the fact is,Dublin are.Ask the Kilkenny full forward line who shared all of 3 points between them and Henry Shefflin kept scoreless from play.I'm sure somewhere in the back of his mind he is not at all happy about being contained like that.

A Tipperary fan going on about Dublin being cocky is akin to a man throwing stones from his glass house.I remember Tipperary fans were very cocky before last years AI Semi Final and then they were outclassed by a gutsy Waterford side.Tipp fans shouldn't be hoping for either Dublin or Limerick. They should be concentrating on their own game and their own form and then maybe they will have a chance of winning Liam McCarthy or getting to a final.Personally,I hope this attitude is prevalent among the Tipp panel. If Dublin beat Limerick and meet Tipp with this attitude,it will be the best chance Dublin hae of reaching the final.

don't mind it, the only people calling dublin hurlers cocky are only presuming it because of dublins' footballers .

Tipperary have a very good record against Dublin. Think most tipping a Tipp Kilkenny final to be honest.

Yes, and they are wrong on both counts. Even with hurling, people want to have a go at us Dubs. We'll be well up for the challenge on Sunday. Limerick won't be underestimating us. It should be a good match. Two good matches to look forward to in Thurles on Sunday. It should be a good day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,908 ✭✭✭Daysha

I'll be there and I'll be cheering on the Dubs. Teams like Laois, Antrim and Carlow can learn a lot from them, and in a sport with only 8-9 top level teams the more counties that can be competitive the better. Could you imagine if the Dublin hurlers actually managed to progress further than the footballers this year?!

Nothing against Limerick, but going on the basis of their performances in the league and championship this year, Dublin are far more deserving of a semi final place. However, I know all too well you don't always get what you deserve in hurling, and merit alone won't win you an All-Ireland quarter final. That said, they should progress with 2-3 to spare.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,729 ✭✭✭Pride Fighter

Ronan Fallon is back from injury. This is a huge boost for Dublin, he is an awesome centre back. He was rightly given an All Star nomination last year. If the Dublin forwards get into their groove from play this could be a great opportunity to make the semi final.

Spot on Limerick have been poor all year though Thurles will be advantageous for them. Dublin will win by 2-3 points.

Interesting to see how many of the Blue Army go down, should make for a great day out.

I have a Bad feeling about this Game.I think Dublin will take us. Limerick all season have looked like a team going through the motions. And Dublin will be right up for this. And so they should be.Havent been in the spotlight for yrs and a great chance to show case all the Good work put in over yrs. With a chance of an All ireland semi final apperance if not a final apperance.

Limerick Team has been changed around a lot and even now the starting 15 on sunday could not even be picked.
I hope one thing that we get to see Oillie Moran play again for the green and white.
This man has given 14yrs to limerick and deserves at least a last run out sometime next sunday.

You're spot on about Dublin not being an easy draw, blackbelt, but in fairness Tipp's next game could very well be against Dublin or Limerick, so that kind of is thinking about their next game.

And in fairness to the poster, he only ever said the Dublin footballers were cocky - though this is still a pretty crap contribution to the debate, and I assume all (s)he was trying to do was stir it up a bit by repeating a lazy assumption.

Lets keep posts to Limerick for the moment. Tipp game in the future. No foregone conclusions on Sunday.

I'm heading down with my lady wife to Thurles on Sunday and to say that I can't wait is an understatement. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the Leinster final but watched it at home and was delighted with the performance against the Cats.

Sunday is a massive game no matter how you look at it and Ronan Fallon being back is a massive boost and almost negates the fact that we've lost Oisin Gough.

I do think we'll shade it but Limerick will want to prove a lot of hacks wrong and will give it stocaí come Sunday of that I have no doubt!

Oh btw,I am pissed with how the GAA have organised ticket sales for Thurles.I went down to the ticket office in Dorset Street to be told I have to get them on the day and that only stand tickets were being sold. What a waste of a journey. My friend also got caught up in this.

Is that if you go down there with a Parnel Park Pass, blackbelt?

Has Justin made much of a difference since coming in?
To the naked eye, no. But Rome wasn't built in a day. He can only work with the players at his disposal. A lot of the players are lacking the basic skills expected of inter-county players, such as poor first touch, no awareness of players around them, poor striking ability. But thats not Justin's fault, its the fault of the clubs. I've been told he's been working very hard on trying to get the players first touch up to scratch, sometimes it hard to teach old dogs new tricks.

I have a feeling Limerick will do in on Sunday. They have played 4 matches so far, 3 of them in awful weather conditions so havent really had the chance to "hurl". They have to have a game in them and I have a feeling Sunday could be it.

It suits us being the underdog against Dublin and all the hype about Dublin is just what we want. Just need to start from the throw in and not get into the position of giving away so many scores like V Laois last Saturday. I think our older players may struggle for a bit of pace and that captain Foley needs to stick to his man (the amount of ball the Laois half forwards got last week in the opening minutes was shocking, and we struggled for a long time after to catch up). Dont think Ollie Moran should start as I think he too would struggle.

Will be interesting to see what team Justin names for us :)

Think Ollie should have taken his retirement after 2007 - gone out on a high. And in fairness, with Niall being injured, who would he pass the ball to? :D

Blackbelt not sure if it helps but GAA selling Dublin Duo package at mo. Ticket for Football Quartre and Hurling Quartre for €50, decent seating tickets and saves €20. But if your looking for terrace tickets not sure what the craic is.

You hearing of many Dublin heads going down?

maybe limerick will be inspired and motivated by the fact that it's probably ollies last game, thurles will be like a 16th man for them, dublin haven't a clue about the place, "if you can't hurl in thurles then you can't hurl at all". it's gonna be a brilliant match, followed by our boys v waterford, i have mytiet, can't wait :)

A huge test for both teams, I think Dublin have more potential to grow than Limerick. However Sunday is a huge test for the Dubs. It is unknown ground to be favourites and also to be in Thurles. Limerick only hurl when underdogs. Justin is a lucky manager and while I do not think either team has a hope of winning an All Ireland this year, I think Limerick will sneak it on Sunday.:)

Why would you think Thurles would suit Limerick, on the contary I think it will definitely suit Dublin more, they have the more livlier and skillfull forwards IMO and the open spaces of Thurles is made for them.

i would assume it's because limerick are playing there every year, while this dublin team never have .
