    Hello everyone

As many of you will be aware , we at Predator Combat Games have since our opening arranged a summer weekender.

From the early days of Napalm Death we have been both proud and honoured to greet our Brothers and Sisters from all over the Island and this year i'm told will be no exception.

Last year we ran Operation Red Hammer and now we have the sequal to this exciting game created by Kyle Coey (Bull)

I understand that we are getting a large number of people from "Down South" making the long journey up to us and may I say on behalf of the whole team that we value the effort and patronage shown to come such a distance to enjoy the weekend with us.

So we have pulled out all the stops and laid on something very special for you all indeed. I will add all relevant game information to this thread for your convenience.

We look forward to seeing you all at the end of the month , have a safe journey up and if you have any special requirements do get in touch with us.

    Thanks

Ryan (on behalf of Team Predator)

NATO has collapsed. The surprise strike in 98 by the Soviets on the USA was instrumental in showing the world that although Nerotsky was dead, the conflict was not. The US pulled out of the DMZ, what little was left of their forces were sent to the borders of the US to ensure that some form of defence could be held in the event of an invasion. The remainder of the coalition of the free initiative had their hands well and truly tied. It turned out that the soviets had mass produced the SPECTRE warhead system, and were stockpiling them in the Ukraine.

For several years all remained quiet after the UN victory at the DMZ. The world powers were content that so long as a strong peacekeeper line was held there, the Russians wouldn’t attempt a breakout. However, due to the missile strikes the Russians carried out during the war, the UN couldn’t mount a force large enough to march for Moscow. Meanwhile, in the Soviet heartland, the people suffered. Sanctions didn’t allow humanitarian aid and the ‘government’ were in no position to supply aid, several negotiation summits failed and in 1999, the Soviets marched into the DMZ again.

The UN, caught off guard, had their forces mercilessly decimated by the Soviet assault. The “Red Winter” as it became known, had begun. The mass panic that ensued seen the Soviet forces walk over the Balkan territories, bolstering their military and getting vital supplies back to Russia. The Euro coalition, formed after the collapse of NATO, called on the US for vital help and troops. The US, in its weakened state, could not initiate any military operation of use, and the USDOD decided to hold its place on its on borders.

As the Balkan nations united under the Soviet standard, the Red army were able to poise themselves in position to take Europe. State propaganda warned that there would be no mercy to those who stood and fought. The Soviets sought revenge on those who brought the State to its knees in 92.

Indeed, the fallout of those events led up to the Balkan Thunder war. The first shot of aggression was fired, fittingly on August 1st, 2001. Almost 10 years to the day that the DMZ war broke out.

    sovietwashingtonvg0.jpg

    MARCH 5th 1953
Joseph Stalin dies. A power struggle for leadership would carry on until 1958.

    AUGUST 10th 1953
    Soviets test a hydrogen bomb.

    OCTOBER 14th 1962
    Cuban missile crisis.

    DECEMBER 25th 1979
The Soviets invade Afghanistan. They attempt to conquer the country through standard means. Two ground routes and one air corridor, allowing quick capture of the countrys urban centres, military installations and key areas. They were there to pacify current ‘problems’ with opposition groups, such as Mujahideen.

    AUGUST 12th 1980
The war now developed into a new pattern: the Soviets occupied the cities and main military and communication facilities, while the Mujahideen, funded by the USA, divided into small groups, waged a guerilla war. Almost 80 percent of the country escaped government control. Soviet troops were deployed in strategic areas in the Northeast, especially along the road from Termez to Kabul.

    MARCH 1st 1985
The new Soviet General Secretary, Mikhail Gorbachev expressed his impatience with the Afghan conflict. He demanded that a solution be found before one-year deadline. As a result, the size of the LCOSF was increased to 108,800 and fighting increased throughout the country, making 1985 the bloodiest year of the war. Despite suffering heavily, the Mujahideen weren't defeated. Having failed to eliminate the rebellion militarily, the Soviets began working on an exit strategy with emphasis on political solutions.

    MAY 15th 1989
Soviet forces begin to withdraw from Afghanistan. Not all who have been watching the situation are satisfied with the result. They see this as the greatest humiliation the Motherland has faced, and the inevitability of the Soviet Union crumbling seems to draw ever nearer. A dissident and ex-Vympel KGB member, Vasili Nerotsky, has decided that perhaps to save the motherland, its current leadership must be reshuffled. He bides his time and waits until the time is right to strike…soon.

    JANUARY 4th 1990
Nerotsky overthrows Gorbachev in one of the most vicious coup d'états ever performed. His first act is to establish the office of ‘Supreme Commander of the Soviet State’, with himself in it. He picks two of his fellow Vympel agents as his subordinates, and cuts off diplomatic ties to the West. Western leaders watch nervously, as the hot blooded Vasili does not seem interested in the “new thinking abroad” approach that Gorbachev seemed so keen to embrace.

    FEBRUARY 16th 1990
The SCSS orders immediate development on a stockpile of stable nuclear warheads, ready to be deployed at a moments notice. The soviet SPECTRE missile is developed within weeks. A cheap missile with a nuclear payload that could wipe out a major population centre at a moments notice.

    MARCH 28th 1990
    SPECTRE missile tested successfully.

    MAY 21st 1990
Nerotsky refuses passage into or out of Soviet Russia without express government permission. This was the last motion made on his part for two years…

    AUGUST 1st 1992
The SCSS orders that the Afghanistan Mujahideen and its allies are dealt with. That day, the sky over Afghanistan burns, the desolate plains burn as if in the fires of hell. The Soviet State started its nuclear war. Within hours, the “coalition of the free world” is formed. The Eastern Bloc and the Western territories are on a crash course for each other.

The DMZ war breaks out. Bordering territories are rapidly occupied by UN forces. The Soviets advance to the battlefield to meet them. A bloody and ferocious battle breaks out, with the Soviets launching several nuclear arms into the DMZ. Many lives are lost on both sides, with the UN eventually delivering a crushing blow with the assassination of Vasili Nerotsky and the destruction of the Subpen thought to be hiding the last of the Soviet SPECTRE stockpile.

The Soviet nation is taken over by Nerotskys appointed successor, Ivan Mervoski.

    DECEMBER 25th 1992
The global peace summit is held on neutral ground on the DMZ.

    DECEMBER 26th 1992
    Negotiations break down.

    JANUARY 6th 1993
Covert operation BEAR TRAP is initiated by the US. Seal Team 4 successfully dispatch a Soviet exped battalion.

    AUGUST 1st 1993
A memorial service is held on the DMZ for the lives lost in the war. The UN announce fresh peace negotiations are to take place in Brussels later in the month.

    AUGUST 20th 1993
A week long round table negotiation takes place. The Soviets demand sanctions are lifted immediately before they will enter further dialogue. The US and European Union refuse to lift sanctions until the Soviets allow independent weapons inspectors into the country to verify Soviet claims that there are no more nuclear weapons in their territories.

    SEPTEMBER 5th 1993
A riot breaks out in the Soviet capital of Moscow due to the poor living conditions suffered by the people. The riot is quelled within several hours with the use of lethal force. World leaders condemn the actions of the Soviets.

    NOVEMBER 21st 1993
Satellite imagery suggests that the Soviets have something hidden in Ukraine. Operation ATHENA SWORD is launched. The CIA DenOps team sent on the mission are never heard from again.

    1994 – 1997

After the bloody conflict in the DMZ, whereby the rogue Soviet leader, Vasili Nerotsky was neutralised, the world stage was set. In Washington, the occupants of the White House nervously hovered fingers over buttons. Keys were placed into failsafe locks.

The world was on the brink of self destruction. The UN eventually quelled Soviet resistance in the DMZ, setting up what was referred to as a “border”, not a front. Nothing was going in or out of Russia, and the country was beginning to collapse. The new head of Soviet affairs, Ivan Mervoski, has been locked in negotiations with UN commanders over how the situation should be resolved.

One would think an unconditional surrender is all that could be offered to the Soviets. But given certain dealings the US government made in WWII, the situation has been...complicated.
The world watches a bizarre political setpiece unfold.
Certain countries distance themselves from the coalition, preferring to protect their own lands in case a surprise strike should arise.

Many believed Mervoski could be the key to bringing peace between the East and the West. They could not have foreseen just how mistaken they were. The SILENT WOLF directive was issued. Silent Wolf was a last ditch plan automatically activated in the event of Nerotsky being killed in action or assassinated.

Nothing could prepare the peoples of the world for what would come on January 1st, 1998.

    JANUARY 1st 1998

It is the eve of peace negotiations being chaired by the USA, and an Ultimatum has been issued. The Soviets have one final chance to co-operate or further sanctions will be imposed.

January 1st 1998 becomes known as the first day of the “Red Winter”. The Soviets launch several SPECTRE warheads at the US. The casualties are untold. Several soviet cells operating within the US activate, and the streets of areas unaffected by the several blasts become scenes of chaos. The national guard are mobilised and the remainder of US forces are pulled from the DMZ to protect their own borders. NATO almost instantly collapses under the pressure dropping on it from the world over, various world powers form coalitions.

    FEBRUARY 9th 1999
The Soviets march into the DMZ. The few UN troops who made it out tell of mass executions. The European coalition watches helplessly as the Soviets walk into the Balkans with zero resistance.

The Soviets, in complete control set their sights on Western Europe. They mobilise en masse, ready to attack the few that stand in their way.

    MARCH 4th 1999
The battle lines drawn, Western Europe prepares itself for the South Eastern onslaught. The United Kingdom mobilises the majority of its forces, sending them to the front to support other European forces. The main battle group consists of British, Irish, French, German and Spanish forces. Amongst their number are multiple embedded Special forces units, including the SAS unit that were so successful in the DMZ war. Also included are a small US contingent, sent as advisors to the EU to provide any assistance, however limited, possible.

The first shot of aggression in the Balkan Thunder war is fired.

    Reuters WE report:

    WAR: WHAT'S CHANGED?

Todays focus report looks at the yet again escalating situation involving the Balkan peninsula, and how things have changed from the DMZ war that cost so many lives in 1992. The leadup to the first war can arguably be traced back to 1979, when the Afghan conflict started. The effect of that war and its loss by the Soviets soon snowballed into an avalanche of hatred for the west in Russia. A seemingly powerful army had been humiliated and what was once considered a global superpower soon became a shadow of what it once was on the world stage. Until Nerotsky came along, of course.

The DMZ war and what happened there is well documented. It's worrying that with such a large scale conflict fresh in peoples minds, that this report is being compiled on indeed what seems to be the eve of another long and bloody conflict. What makes this war so terrifying is just how much things have changed...

    THE PEOPLE:
The key players in this confict if it were to happen would be PM of the Euro-Coalition James Staten and Soviet Premier Ivan Mervoski. Last time around the conflict was very much so the world against Russia, whereas this time we have two men who have locked horns over the negotiation table hovering fingers over proverbial buttons. The world stage has changed in many ways now because of the dramatic events of 1998. NATO no longer exists, the UN has been dissolved and the US no longer plays an official role in current affairs. Staten has appealed to the Federation of the Africas for help and manpower, but with no avail. Indeed, it would seem that in terms of manpower, the odds could be stacked against the EUC.

    THE SOLDIERS:
The EUC armies are made up of the surviving militaries of various countries in the EU and are spearheaded by the British Army. There are several units comprised of US soldiers that were extracted from the DMZ during the Red Winter by EU forces and who agreed to sign up and fight against the Soviets. The US contingent make up a small fraction of the EUC force and have been given express permission from what remains of the US government to provide any assistance possible. Within the ranks of the EUC there are several SpecOps detachments, the most "famous" of which is the SAS unit, callsign "Phantom" who are said to be on standby to spearhead any impending assault.
    pict59.jpg

The Soviet-Balkan alliance force is mostly made up of DMZ veteran units, as well as various "voluntary comrades" from member states. It is believed that there are a small number of PoWs from various countries that have joined with the Soviets in an effort to gain thier freedom, more than actually believing in the Soviet cause. The SBA force however have been better trained than many expected, and seemingly have limitless resources at thier disposal. The Vympel unit have not been seen since the elimination of Vasili Nerotsky in 1992.
    gori_ap_46956a.jpg

    THE WEAPONS:
A crippling blow to the 'victory' won by the UN coalition at the DMZ was the realisation some years later that indeed, the Soviets still had SPECTRE warheads. The true fear now however, is what the Soviets have been working on while the supposed negotiations and crisis talks have been going on. In the age of genetic engineering and new virulent disease turning up everyday, is it farfetched to imagine the Soviets employing biological weapons?
    Time, and deathtolls, will tell.

The EU are however boasting superior anti air capability, as well as having some of the best nuclear scientists in the world at the helm of a shield programme.

The major surprise of all this is how few major leaps in handheld weapon tech have been made. For the most part, soldiers on both sides would be using the same armalites and AKs they were in the DMZ war if the conflict were to kick off.

UNKNOWN ELEMENTS IN BALKAN PENINSULA AND EU

Unknown PMC elements have been causing havoc throughout the Balkan region in recent weeks, with the scale strongly tipped to war, neither side is claiming ownership of the sinister payroll that they are working under. Indeed, many are confused if the PMC element are actually working in cahoots with anyone, due to the fact that both sides have been reporting attacks on supply convoys and troop columns.

The rogue soldiers of fortune have been causing mobilisation efforts some serious headaches over the past few weeks, with several casualties being reported on both sides before an actual shot of aggression has been fired.

Soviet Premier Mervoski has released a statement: "The cowardice of the EUC has been further compounded by not being able to face us head on. It's evident that they are indeed afraid to send in thier weakened and pathetic force. The reports of casualties on thier side are clearly hastily engineered propaganda accounts to try and garner more support for thier tired and demoralised forces. If they wish to keep playing this game they may find they will suffer a similar fate to our other enemies."

The office of the EU PM were unavailable for official comment, with an insider only stating "We don't respond to Soviet propaganda".

An attempt to contact the suspected PMC company involved, South African company Cheetah Security, has proven fruitless.

This is another disturbing turn in an increasingly surreal world stage.

    OF - 9 Woodward

    3852861

    HISTORY:

Served with distinction alongside OF - 8 Fitzsimmons and Abernathy during the DMZ conflict. Succesfully routed several soviet attacks on on DMZ soil, narrowly escaped to rally point bravo after SPECTRE strike on the UN foothold in the DMZ. Was reassigned to head of the British Army in whitehall after the conflict, due to being considered "unsuitable" to negotiate with the soviets. His mistrust of them was not ill founded however, as the world learned in 1998.
Was instantly named as high command of the European Coalition army.

Deferred all powers of Special Operations within the EUC to Hereford whereby a commitee made up of the best specialist units in the world were merged into three brigades. The 22nd SAS, 12th GSG9 and French unit 13e RDP.

    CURRENT:

Believed to be preparing to hold a solid line around the Balkans to try and contain a soviet push.

    Генерал Полковника Товарища Томас Мервоскый
    Colonel General Tomas "Bear" Mervoski

    5219834

    HISTORY:
Whirlwind of the DMZ, brother of Ivan. Believed to hold almost every combat citation possible, with new ones being invented just to be pinned on to him. Many soviet soldiers claim he cannot wear his No. 2 dress uniform as the weight of medals on it would be too great for any man to bear. As a field grade officer in the DMZ war, single handedly eliminated a Special Forces unit. Soviet propaganda claims he did so without firing a shot. The bodies of the unit were never found, therefore this tale can neither be confirmed nor denied.

Believed to have propelled himself to the heights of top echlon command after the execution of Phillipe Gavorch. He, Nerotsky and the unit known simply as Vympel took over the Soviet forces in the DMZ. It is, to this day, unclear who ordered the execution of Gavorch. Commands very much from the front, seems to enjoy the bloodshed and chaos of battle.

    CURRENT:
Believed to be behind the recent massed staging of Soviet troops in Bosnia.

    TEAMS
All Players will be divided equally in number into two Separate forces, EU and Soviet. The teams are identified by two coloured armbands, worn on each arm the colours are BLUE for EU and RED for Soviet. The teams will be on equal footing. Each team will have a marshal commander and each commander will have several sections with section commanders.

    MEDICS
Players will be regenerated by medics chosen within the ranks of their own team. Medics will be given special armbands distinguishing them from other players. Medics are also able to participate in combat. There will be a strict ration of 1 medic per squad. The role of medic is interchangeable throughout each teams ranks and no permission to swap roles is required from the organisers or commanders. Teams are free to deploy their medics as they see fit anywhere on the site.

    TRANSFER OF MEDICS
Both teams will be permitted medics. We encourage all players to take this role at some point in the weekend. You do not need permission to change who your medics are as long as you don't add any extra medics to the ratio or transfer medics while your are hit and waiting to be healed or walking to your respawn. To transfer a medic you should take on that persons armband when they are in game and not hit.

    THE DEFINITION OF A “HIT”
A "Hit" is when you are shot directly anywhere on your person or main weapon by friend or foe. A "Grenade Hit" is where an explosive type pyro is thrown and explodes. If you are within a 5 metre radius of its landing zone you are considered hit.

    THE BANG RULE
The bang rule is, as always, used with player discretion.

    HEALING PROCEDURE
When a player is hit they must shout "Hit" clearly, place their weapon on the ground, sit on the ground placing their hands over their heads and then shout "Medic" continually until they are reached by a medic. Each player will be issued with a small section of white cloth that they must retain on their person and when hit and waiting for a medic they should pull it out and hold it in their hands whilst over their head. When physical contact is made with a medic for 60 seconds continuously players are considered regenerated and at liberty to rejoin the game they can then put the white cloth back in a pouch etc. If a period of more than 5 minutes elapses you may rise from your position and return to a respawn point holding the white cloth all the way. From there you are entitled to regen.

Medics can drag a player to safety to heal them as long as long as the player does not move himself. Please take care when dragging people medics!!

Medics are subject to exactly the same hit and respawn rules as ordinary players. As are commanders and section commanders.

    FRIENDLY FIRE
If you are guilty of friendly fire not only is your team mate considered a casualty of war no different that that of your enemy, but you are also hit and must go through the same healing procedure.

    REGENS
Regens will work the same way as they did at Red Hammer and on Battlefield days. In short:
Around the site there will be ‘control points’. These points will be in the hands of whoever has their flag up on the point. If you are shot at a control point your team holds, you must regen at the next one you hold. In the event that you move to this point and there is a fire fight in progress there, you must move to the next point after this one. In the event you have NO control points left, you will be able to use a permanent regen point, which will be assigned to your team on the day.

    OBJECTIVES, SUB-MISSIONS AND BONUS OBJECTIVES
Side commanders will have the days objectives in full. They will distribute them accordingly to section leaders.

*NOTE* RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Hey folks, just a few basics of ettiquette for attending an event such as this.

Number 1: I shouldn't have to say it, but I will. Cheating: Zero tolerance. A lot of effort has went into preparing this event for the players enjoyment. The marshal team can and will send people consistently cheating offsite.

Number 2: When on the campsite at night, please respect fellow players personal space and keep noise limits to a minimum so as fellow players are able to get some sleep.

Number 3: Understand that while encouraged to make the most of the social aspect of the event, it is also important to remember that this is TWO DAYS of shooting. I can assure you, waking up on Sunday morning is worth it, so allow for that.

Number 4: Litter. We have been kindly allowed to use the land which now acts as a campsite, please treat it with respect. Rubbish bags will be around the campsite, and players will be expected to use them.

Number 5: If using the bar or its facilities, please treat them with respect. At these events we are pretty much given the run of the bar, so we would ask that you all dust yourselves down and make sure your boots are clean or better yet have a change of footwear.

Number 6: If using the facilities in the safe zone, please treat them with respect. Leave the toilets as you would like to find them.

Number 7: Please ensure that you have enough charged batteries for the event. While we will try our best to accomodate players who have ran out of power throughout the day bear in mind each staff member will have tasks that they may need to carry out before attending to your batteries.

Number 8: Staff only areas are exactly that. Staff only. Please respect the signage around the safezone, especially given the heavier foot traffic we're going to be dealing with at RHII.

Number 9: Please familiarise youself with the game information thread and ensure you plan your journey accordingly if you plan arriving on the Saturday morning.

Number 10: Have fun, play safe and enjoy the event!

This year we will be offering a FREE service whereby you can have your weapons locked in a secure container on both Friday and Saturday night. Leaving your gun with us on Friday and Saturday will give a twofold advantage.

We will be able to chrono and process your gun quickly and without hassle. You can sleep soundly in the knowledge that your gun will be kept in a secure and dry enviroment.

The second reason is that it means there will be minimal exposure of realistic looking replicas being flashed about in the carpark and campsite.

Note that it is not compulsory to use this service, but in the event you decide not to use it, we would ask you keep your guns in your mode of transport rather than your tent. If you must have your weapons with you in your tent quarters, it is vital that it stays there until you absolutely must lift it out. Anyone excessively brandishing a RIF or indeed firing it in the carpark or campsite will be asked to leave the site.

With events such as this one becoming bigger it is a step we have been forced to take, but one I feel can work to your advantage as well as ours.

Thankyou for your cooperation in this matter.

Thats all I have for now folks. Enjoy reading all of that and ill happily answer any specific questions as and when I can.

There is a Q and A thread over on ASI though , might be worth a read beforehand.

I should add also for anyone who hasn't been at one of our weekenders we share ground with a Pub and Coaching Inn and we have exclusive use of their washroom and tolier facilities and their Bar all weekend which we will open at peak off game times .

We will be having our now legendary Pub Quiz in the bar on Saturday night , which from previous experience is almost as hotly contested as the airsoft, we usually have little spot prizes throughout it too.

    Enjoy.

    Rank Structure (both teams)

Commanding Officer (A MARSHAL) - Role: To use intel and direction given by game organisers and disseminate this to his Field Commander and strategise and formulate battle plans according to directions and advice given by the game organiser

Field Commander (2IC) (Will Liase directly with CO.) Will assist the CO when required and will deputise for the CO should they CO be unable to participate at any time) Role: To disseminate orders given by the CO to the section leaders for distribution to their sections".

Section Leaders (Will liase directly with the 2IC and execute the 2IC's orders) Role: To command the private soldiers in their respective sections as per the orders they have been given.

Private Soldiers (Will liase with Section Leader) Role: To execute orders given by their section leader.

So if you are not a commander or squad leader you are a private in a section.

However depending on how they play the game Commanders may allow their Section Leaders to form smaller squads within a section and promote a private to lead a sqaud within a section. But this is up to the teams to decide.

Respectful Suggestions for playing the Red Hammer Game :

From previous experience of events we as Marshal's tend to notice that some players who perhaps have not had previous experience playing "event airsoft" can struggle a little with a large scenario. Primarily this is because they are used to playing the normal casual hire and walk on shoots that involve direction and detailed instructions for each game.

In an event of this nature the game play, rules and scenarios will be more realistic and there will be less "one on one" interaction from Marshal to Players.

Therefore your game play experience relies not so much on the Marshal's providing instructions but on your own initiative and your ability to interact with your team, ability to understand the game itself and to communicate with your team, section commanders and overall commanders.

Listen carefully to the rules, the initial game brief and any information disseminated down from commanders to section and squad leaders. Marshals will not be giving information to every player on an individual basis. Think of the game as real military maneuvers where there is a chain of command with information being passed down the chain. The Commanding Officer is not responsible for disseminating information to a Private.

To ensure an enjoyable and realistic experience remember that the organizers have crafted a scenario for you to interoperate and manage yourselves without our direct input. The organizers will steer the game back on course if required but this all succeeds or fails depending on how you the players perform as a team. You need to be able to take and give orders to succeed in this game and to get into the spirit of the game.

Commanding Officer: The buck starts and stops with you. You will be given information directly from game organisers. This information and intel will be crucial to your teams ability to operate. You will then hand this information and your understanding of what needs done about it to your 2IC, your field commander who will be your right hand man during the event. Always stay in touch with your game organisers and do not break contact with them. And this year each commander is a Predator Marshal, Tom and Robbie. Teams you are being led by the best . Respect them.

Field Commander (2IC): You are the link between the Commander and the Section Leaders. You are the right hand , you are the man who gets the job done. It is your job alone to pass on the commanders orders to your squad leaders to get the job done. You will execute the orders and get the job done. Ensure you are in touch with your squad leaders at all times, it is crucial that you know the whereabouts of your section leaders and them you at all times. If your CO is down you take over.

Section leaders: you guys have perhaps the most important task of them all. You will be given regular intel from your field commander and it is up to you to disseminate that downwards. It is you fine ladies and gentlemen who will be the heroes of Red Hammer it is you who will run this game. So for anyone who has stepped up to the mark we thank you but be under no illusions it is you who has the big job, be sure you are ready for it and prepared to lead your men into battle. And dont forget you too can delegate jobs, send out small squads, appoint leaders and have them report back to you and lead men for you. Ensure you are in harmony with the other section leaders and always consider the bigger picture.

Private Soldiers: Your section leaders and anyone they appoint to lead a smaller squad etc must have your cooperation and respect they will give you the tasks and lead you to succesful execution of them. They cannot do that unless you play as a coherent unit. It is you the private soldier who pulls the trigger, who will knock out the sentry, who will storm the fixed position and who will take the day for your team. Be brave, be a team player and always remember the bigger picture. Fight intelligently and tactically. Enagage when you have to and remain undetected when you have to and always always keep your objectives in mind. Become leaders to the less experienced in your section, help them guide them and fight with them. That way you will control the battlefield.

Communication is equally as important as your rifle for this game. Individual participants should always be operating as a team and aware of what their whole force is doing at any time. Arrange and synchronize comms, radios and ensure you are aware where you section leaders etc are so that you can always get back to them for instruction.

If people just go off to engage the enemy on a random basis like a Weekend walk on this will not work. When on the offensive think tactically and when on the defensive ensure that men are relieved from sentry duty periodically so that you can move people tactically and coherently around the battlefield.

The whole site is in play and this is a large and involving scenario. There is no reason why people should be standing around or wandering around without a purpose. This will happen however if people do not communicate, act as a team and be aware of their surroundings and the aims and objectives of their entire force at any one time.

The organizers have given you an excellent and realistic scenario and rule set but they cant play it for you. Read the rules, read the story (its not just for show it has intel within) and think before you fight.

The weekend is now in your hands. Enjoy it and make it your own.Play fairly, wisely honestly and above all play well.

    SOVIETS POISED TO STRIKE

    Bluewatch magazine

A source from inside EUSOC has confirmed to this publication that indeed, the Soviets are mounting forces in various locales throughout the Balkans, with significant numbers of red troops mounted near Mostar in Bosnia. It is believed that this is the Soviet command battalion. Now, while the sane amongst the EUC are calling for an immeadiate pre emptive strike on the reds base of operations in the Balkans, the elite who spent the DMZ war behind a desk are still eager to try earning thier paycheque by negotiation. Note that for 10 years, every deal laid on the table has been spat upon (in some cases literally) by the now bolstered SBA.

    INSULT TO THE SOLDIERS
In what Bluewatch views as an obscene insult to our fighting men, the diplomatic sector of the EUC has openly stated that the DMZ war was perhaps "not the wisest course of action" at the time. This is the latest in a long line of attempts to sweep recent history under the political rug. The attempts of improving relations with the soviets have resulted in nothing but a series of concessions being made and therefore showing the enemy that the EUC can be bent and weakened.

    SOVIETS 'UNPHASED'
Indeed, the soviets have proven that they are certainly not afraid of another all out conflict even after "losing" the first battle. They have boldly bolstered thier armies, have pulled an even bigger land grab and now firmly have their sights set on more European lands. The thing that makes them an even more terrifying foe to deal with is the liberal use of nuclear weapons when they are stuck in a corner. On three seperate occasions, without any hesitation, without any forewarning or idle threats, they have proven that saber rattling is not thier style.

    EUC / SOVIET NEGOTIATION TRANSCRIPT

    euflagdraftfs6.jpg
The following is a transcript of the negotiation that took place between Soviet Premier Mervoski and EUC Minister James Staten. The mediator present is US envoy of the peace, David Heller.

Heller: Gentlemen, we are here today to try and broker a deal to end this ridiculous posturing between two powers.

Ivan Mervoski looks over his shoulder. He waves forward his assistant, who says something in his ear. This is inaudible.

Staten: From the outset I would like to make it clear that we have attempted to build a bridge in our relations since the DMZ war. The people of the coalition are keen to resolve the problem we have without force.

Mervoski stares blankly across the table, raising his hand before speaking.

Mervoski: Without force? I'm sorry but yet again it seems we open one of these shambolic "diplomatic" *he makes quotation marks in the air* meetings with a threat from the EUC. Need I remind you that we are perfectly alright with using force to protect our borders? It would seem to me that you think we actually have something to fear from you. If you want me to treat you as an equal rather than an idiot, you would do well to speak to me with some respect.

Staten: I apologise if that was the message you got, Premier Mervoski, but I was merely stating that we do not wish to enter another conflict with the Russian people. We both lost untold...

Mervoski: I believe the death tolls were well publicised, which is further proof that we should be the ones dictating the terms here, as you appear to be keen to do.

    Heller: Gentlemen, some decorum please.

Mervoski: Silence Heller, I don't have time for your idle chat. We may be agreed to a truce but that does not give you the right to tell me what to do.

Staten: Ivan, please. We destroyed the last of your spectre warheads, and the knowledge of how to build them went with Nerotsky.

Mervoski: Do not dare speak of Comrade Nerotsky. He gave his life in the service of the motherland. He is a hero of the Soviet Union, and his work is not as dead as you think it is.

Staten: Premier, you and I both know that Nerotsky will go down in history as a maniacal tyrant. His death was not 'heroic', it was mindless bloodshed. Don't insult us both by carrying on with mindless rhetoric.

Mervoski: *rises from his seat, standing tall over the table* I would advise you to still your tounge.

    Heller: Ivan, sit down!

Mervoski: As usual the western world attempts to dictate terms to me. *sits down, slowly*

Staten: Alright, i'll cut to the chase. The proposals have been changed as per your request.

Mervoski: *He grunts* And what exact changes have you made?

Staten: Soviet trade routes will still be monitored by a third party in the Federation of the Africas. You will sign up to START-3 and cease production of weapons of mass destruction. Once these terms have been adhered to, the UN - NATO sanctions will be lifted.

Mervoski: So now you're offering to lift the sanctions placed on us by a soon to be defunct talk shop?

Heller: What do you mean, "defunct"?

Mervoski: *smirking* You will see very soon, Mr. Heller. I would imagine you will be recieving a phone call very soon.

Staten: What have you done Mervoski?

Mervoski: What I should have a long time ago. We'll see if you want to have a chat at the round table after the events of the next few days.

Hellers assistant bursts into the room. She runs to Heller, whispers something in his ear and his eyes widen. He looks to X, then to Mervoski.

    Heller: You...you bastard!

    Mervoski: Better take that phonecall.

Mervoski stands, turns and leaves the room. Heller remains seated, shaking with rage.

    Staten: What's going on, David?

Heller: Our defense systems went offline...Mervoski just launched everything he had and more at us.

    Staten: You mean...

    Heller: Nuclear war.

    EUC EMERGENCY STATUS UPDATE

CODE INTERRUPT, MESSAGE URGENT. DATA PACKET AUDIO TRANSCRIPT.

    DATE: 27/7/01

BERLIN: The SBA have breached our lines. We're seeing tank battalions here. Several advanced infantry units, organised, *dull thud, likely an artillery shell* not conscripts. We've been hit by several battalions, a lot of artillery fire <static> initial charge. We have men fighting building to building out there, close quarters. We're holding, but just. We believe we didn't know of this because their tactic appears to have been knocking out the comms arrays along the borders. After doing so they feed a data packet into the system that carries out signal checks as normal. <static>

    0508m46_02.jpg

We've been fighting for hours, and we're not touching them, they just keep throwing men at us.

Be advised that sector 3 has been compromised by a <static> weapon. What the exact makeup of it is, we have no idea. *gunfire, from the enemy* What we do know is that the soviets have upped thier game, we have been witness to some absolutely brutal tactics. Casualties as of yet are untold, simply put we're executing order 49 and pulling back under order of emergency. We will hold our line further back but for now *returned fire* we need to pull back. Out. <static>

    WAR DECLARED
The SBA has declared war on the EUC and her allies. In a statement of aggression released by Soviet Premier Ivan Mervoski, the SBA has delcared its intention not to stop until the entire EUC territory is under its control. With the recent march to Berlin, this latest act has not come as a surprise to EUC army brass. The statement in full:

"Yet again our hand is forced into conflict. Do we have any regrets? No. We will not stop until we have gained what is rightfully ours. The lands of Europe belong to us. If you wear the uniform of our sworn enemy, you will be struck down. Lay down your arms and we will welcome you as a comrade of the Soviet state. This is an official declaration of war."

    340x.jpg

    EUC RESPONDS
    EUC PM Staten responded:

"We will not be bullied into submission by a tyrannical regime that is hell bent on the destruction of the civilised world. Our armies are on standby. People of the EUC are urged not to panic, we will not allow the Soviet menace onto your doorsteps. It is unfortunate that we are now at the threshold of another war, but it is a war we will fight, and we will win. We have dealt with this threat before and we will do so again."

FEDERATION OF THE AFRICAS STATES NEUTRALITY
The FAC have declared that they have no wish to enter into conflict before. Despite calls from both sides of the line to state thier motives, no word has been forthcoming. Several attempts to reach the FAC Foreign office have gone unanswered, despite the growing concern over what many see as tresspass on other soil by the mysterious Cheetah security company. Inside sources claim that they are being bankrolled by a splinter element within the FAC and are essentially being used to generate revenue for the Federation. Many have stated opposition to the involvement of PMC elements, but it is unknown who they are working for in the current situation, other than themselves.

    EUC WAR OFFICE REOPENS SHELTERS
Despite minister Staten making it clear that the EUC will hold the lines, the EUCWO have reopened several Radius Engineering EARTHCOM shelters constructed during the DMZ war. They have also redistributed survival pamphlets to each EU household detailing how best to survive in the event of a nuclear strike. The shelters are built to sustain life following a nuclear strike, and the move has caused concern amongst residents in the surrounding areas. One local man who wished to remain anonymous stated: "I really don't get why they are doing this. Surely if there is a nuclear strike, we're all done for before we can blink anyway. It looks to me like they'll be moving the upper classes and government officials into these shelters for the duration of whatever happens, and the rest of us are going to be left up here to fend for ourselves, probably better that way now that I think about it."

    ec70_floor.jpg

There are many examples of this lack of faith in the EUC government leadership around the EU territories, but the same cannot be said of the military. Indeed, many are overjoyed that the seperation of the military command from whitehall after the DMZ war is still in effect, with the army essentially able to operate without political interference.

That was freakin' deadly. A most excellent weekend. I have the blood of many alternate-history Communists upon my hands and am knackered and smell funny.

The command structure didn't really work on the EU side so information didn't filter down (apparently we had objectives and stuff), but when Lemming, Gerrout and I stuck together as our own unit I got a taste of a whole new side to airsoft that I'd been hoping is out there.

There was a pub on-site, the table quiz was just the right level of difficulty with obligatory obscure questions, there was food being cooked in the safe zone throughout the day, Toy Soldiers Airsoft were on-hand to sell me stuff I didn't need and the guys above and Sod'o swords, delta-boy and dude whose name I don't think I got were great to hang around with.

The better team won out, no doubt - unfortunately this was also the weekend where I learned the meaning of the word 'chairsofting' from observing the bewildering antics of some of the European soldiers, and that cost us dearly.

Thanks a million to everyone involved for putting it on. I definitely became a better, more competent airsofter, and learned things like how I should be more careful not to lose things all over the damn site, and that I don't know anything at all about World War I trivia. And that sometimes, you can ask Jebus for help and it's forthcoming.

really enjoyed visiting predator for the first time, there was heaps of players 170+ i belive. the highlight of the trip for me was the taking of two eu bases in the last hour of the game on saturday,
the pyros really added to the game and were great fun to use, the site is huge and well laid out and the games got started alot quicker then i thought they would with that number of players so well done to the organisers.

As stated before, the PCG weekender in August is the best weekend game for honesty, sportmanship and fairplay any where in Ireland or the UK.

It is highly organised, well thought out, run efficiently and marshalled heavily.

All that people have to do is turn up and pledge to be honest and have fun.
