lingerie and body image

Now I don't have bad body image, and I border on being a nudist in this hot weather, but I feel like an idiot if I dress up in fancy lingerie because I don't have the figure for it.

There's nothing shameful about a chubby body, it's just that when it's presented in an overly sexual way, it is far more repulsive than it would have been just naked, or fully clothed. If I see chubby people on nudist beaches abroad, I don't think twice- that's just the way bodies are. I just don't see how it can make anyone feel sexier unless they have a stunning body to show off in it.

    Does anyone else agree?

I also spend a lot of time naked around my OH and when I'm alone (I don't bother getting dressed til I'm going out on weekends for example) and it seems odd to me to put on something just to take it off again. I just don't get fancy lingerie.

OP, I am sure that you have a far better figure than you imagine. I am OK with my figure but would still fix up a few places - everyone is telling me that I need to put on a stone though (and the scales are saying the same). In terms of lingerie - yes, I have a few nice sets that are very expensive but my husband prefers me naked so I do not see the point in spending more.

its about getting lingerie that suits your figure and fits you properly.

if youre huge theres no point attempting to wear a teeny thong in the same way as if youve a small chest youd probably want to wear a bra that enhances what you have & not want to look like you cant fill your bra.

in saying that its hard to get nice well fitting lingerie for larger sizes, just as im sure its probably hard to get it for really small sizes too.

i love nice lingerie, makes me feel nice regardless of whether anyone else will be seeing it or not.

It is about finding something that suits you, as sar84 says.

Also, trick to make your boobles look bigger (if you need that kind of thing)

(she uses a darker concealer but you could use bronzer)

Everyone has the figure for nice lingerie! Regardless of your shape and size, there's something for everyone! No one should feel like they're stuck in the off-white bra and matching knickers forever!

There's tons of underwear outlets, so there's something to cater for everyone's needs and tastes.

I think if you put an effort into wearing nice underwear, you'll feel sexier and thus, be sexier. It gives you more confidence and that confidence shows!

For me, fancy underwear is also about creating an alter ego ; the femme fatale, the vixen.
It's a sense of empowerment, to put on nice underwear and know you can drive a man wild and literally have him begging at your feet! ;)

I love lingerie, I think it enhances a woman's natural shape. It definitely makes me feel sexy sometimes, but I could equally go without and feel fine too. I love the range of styles out there, pretty much something for everyone, or something to fit any mood! It's such a uniquely feminine thing too. :)

    Yup :)

I love embracing my femininity and sexuality with nice underwear.

It has the power to completely alter your mood!

Id love really nice lingerie to make me feel sexy but have no idea whre u can get it! I would probably feel self conscious at the begining, but if I thought my oh liked it it would make me feel more comfortable!

So where do u guys get the sexy lingerie/babydoll nighties that look good and will fit the average woman?

I don't know about anyone else, but I think there's something to say too for making the special stuff more of the everyday stuff.

Instead of only donning my nicer bras and panties on special occasions, I'll wear them a couple of times a week . . . instead of saving my lacy nighties for nights that I feel like planning a seduction (and, as the OP said, where the outfit will end up on the floor in minutes!), I'll wear them to bed to just feel nice and soft and feminine.

Of course, I'm not talking about corsets and garter belts and the like!

It just helps to not feel silly when it's a part of you and your normal attire, not just your super-sexy alter ego that rears her head (and super volumized hair) every once in a while.

M&S have some nice stuff, not too pricey either! Black lace is always nice :)

Penney's actually have some nice pieces.

Ann Summers carry some nice underwear ranges, as do La Senza.

Depending on your budget, there's some nice labels stocked in Brown Thomas - I'm waiting for a sugar daddy to come along so I can afford it ;)

All those shops carry underwear from size 8 to 18 and all sorts of bra sizes! You'll definitely find something! :D

Aww! Try your best to be confident about your body - it's yours and you should be proud of it! :)

Doesn't matter what size or shape you are, someone's going to think you're the most amazing woman ever and cherish your body for what it is ... so you might as well feel the same :D

Sexy underwear is designed to make you feel good and radiate confidence, so embrace it, try it on, and parade around your bedroom ;)

I did just that the other day! Until I tore one of my stockings :( So, try not to get TOO overwhelmed! :D

Best of luck with it! You'll look great and feel even better :)

Some women feel sexier with lingerie, some without. I personally LOVE lingerie, could be as it's been a necessity from 12 so I embraced it:rolleyes:. I spend most time alone in underwear as it's how I feel most comfortable and it keeps things out of my way :pac:.

Maybe you just view "lingerie" as lacy, teeny, tiny overly sexual underwear, but that's not true. There's a style and shape that flatters every figure and personality.

What makes a woman feels sexy, is what makes her feel confident. And as with everything else else, it's different for all of us.

I have in a NO Way stunning body, but lingerie can lift/smooth and frame things which makes my clothes sit better and look better. And I don't use lingerie to show off, I wear it for me and no-one else. :) Regardless if I'm going out to an important event or slobbing at home, I love my lingerie.
