How much time do you spend taking a shower?

Some girls I know have ridiculously long showers, like 20+ minutes. I'd get bored, personally. I usually take about 5 minutes, and sometimes then I still feel like I'm taking forever because I have to get to work/college a few minutes later. I usually shampoo and condition my hair and throw on some shower gel. Only need to shave sometimes.

basic shower, about 2 mins. Maybe 3!
anything like shaving or conditioner, well, however long it takes, not very long.

20mins in the shower is a complete waste of water, they should be ashamed! :(

+ 1 on the saving water......
sometimes i will break the shower up....
if i feel like having a good condition i wash my hair and slap on me conditioner, wrap in a towel.... hop out fill sink, foot on toilet- shave leg, swap feet, shave other leg, all over body scrub and hop back in to shower to rinse off....
often because i work shifts in a manky hospital i will have two showers a day..... but im jobless so i'm saving more water now...

i dont understand HOW you could take more than fifteen minutes in the shower!

about 30 mins plus, if nobody is in the house.. if they are they get mad and bang on the door after about ten minutes, telling me to hurry up :( .. god damn sharing a bathroom :pac:

not a fan of bath's much tho tbh. spend lil more than ten minutes in em , cause i hate just lying there for to long.. shower on the other hand could stay there all day is i was allowed. also up on the hottest setting it goes to also, cold showers suck!

Save up the water from washing ur hair etc in the shower in the bath, then turn off the water and sit in the bath and shave!

I don't know how people can spend 30 minutes in the shower - what exactly are you doing?? I'm in and out in under 5 minutes, unless shaving is involved.

30 minutes is a total waste of water! I sometimes turn off the water while I'm shaving or putting on body scrub. It saves water and stops the product being washed away 2 seconds after I put it on.

I tell ye lads, if ye spend more than 15 mins in the shower every day, you should try living in Spain with rationed water for a while :D
Few days with no water would give ye some perspective

oh yeah, i dont leave the water on if im shaving or water, ill stop the water, i guess i didnt put that in the time of the 30 mins, but i can still spend 30 mins just washing my hair.. i save the water and enviroment other ways... i live at home with 5 people and there is always people constantly popping in and out... its the only bit of me time i get, and they dont know the boundries, fo my room being my room , and are constantly running in and out borrowing things

At least 10 mins, maybe 15.It takes me that long to wake up:)
It is almost a compulsory addiction,I simply cannot go to work without that time in the shower.
Just on a side note is it cheaper to have an electric shower, use the emersion switch or turn on the hot water at the heating but not the rads?
I'm trying to think of all ways to reduce our gas/electricity bills.
Have switched to Bord Gas for elec but haven't got bill yet.

About 10-15 mins. It takes that long to wash my hair. I have an eco setting on the shower which reduces the water used, so I dont feel that guilty.

Maximum of 20mins,that's if i'm dawdling!even if i'm shaving stuff and exfoliating it doesn't take longer than 15mins!

I spend about 15-20 minutes, less if theres no shaving done! :) couple of years back id have been in the shower at least half an hour!

Basic everyday shower i.e. not washing my hair - less than five minutes.

Shampoo and conditioner, plus exfoliating - maybe three times a week - 15-20 minutes. I can't do it in less!

Super-deluxe shower, including shaving legs - usually once a week for a night out, sometimes more - 30 minutes. I definitely wouldn't be any longer than that though!

At least showers are supposed to waste less water than baths though aren't they?

I'm used to showering relatively quickly because of being a boarder in school.
There was always a queue of people waiting to shower, so you'd have to be fast!

To wash my hair [twice], condition it and exfoliate/soap up ... 10 minutes, max!

I might go slightly over, if I'm showering at night and not in a rush, but in general, 10 minutes is more than enough!

Normal shower 5-10 minutes includes washing my hair, if im shaving my leags it can be anywhere from 10 - 20 minutes.

I probably spend another 5-10 minutes in the bathroom moisturising and brushing my teeth.

About 30 mins, but baths ftw.

10-15 minutes, and I need that time.

I have hair that gets tangled into a rats nest the second anything touches it, so even though I brush it before getting into the shower, I still have to comb it through while there's conditioner in it so that I can comb it when I get out of the shower. Combing it to remove all the tangles that get into it the second shampoo and water hit it takes about 4 minutes on its own.

I also have to exfoliate like a crazy woman every day because my skin is weird. And I wash my face and scrub my feet (which are prone to callouses due to the fact that I walk an average of 20-30 km per week) in the shower as well.

I turn the water off while I'm combing my hair or shaving my legs though, so the water's probably only on for 10 minutes at the longest. We don't have a bathtub at all :(

8 or 10 mins i'd say. but porb spend 15 mins in bathroom, washing teeth, face etc. have a bath once every 5 or 7 days, and thats when i de-fuzz the legs

Depends, if I'm rushing to work etc I can get everything done in like 3-5 minutes. If I've just been for a long run or had a long day etc I like to take my time and relax under the water.

Usually 5-10 minutes. I have very short hair which doesn't take long to wash, and I'm not one for lingering a long time in the shower.

I live in ireland and I grew up with having no water for about a third of the year round. It's still going on. The council just turn off our water whenever they feel like it, with no notice. I remember when we were kids having to go pay for the swimming pool in a nearby town, just so we could shower.

AND I spend twenty mins in the shower. My hair is quite thick, and takes ages to rinse out shampoo......then conditioner....

How does that work? They turn your water off if you use too much?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,195 ✭✭✭✭Michellenman

Generally 10-20 minutes. If I have the time that is. If I'm having one before college I'll just hop in and out in less than five. Usually have a shower in the evening though, so I can take my time.

The apartments we were in, all had some kind of storage thing for each one I think. (I was young enough at the time) I think they got refilled every day or two. So if you use up what's stored for your apt for the day or whatever, that's it.
