Loyalists threaten ethnic minorities in North

    09/07/2009 - 17:20:08
Ethnic minorities have been issued with a chilling threat to get out of the North from young loyalists, it was revealed tonight.

A letter from the youth wing of the Ulster Defence Association (UDA) warned foreigners to leave the “Queen’s country” before July 12, a support group added.

It follows the flight of more than 100 Romanians after their Belfast homes were attacked recently.

A note to community organisations last week stated: “No sympathy for foreigners, get out of our Queen’s country before our bonfire night (July 11) and parade day (July 12). Other than that your building will be blown up.

“Keep Northern Ireland white. Northern Ireland is only for white British.”

The letter was received by the Belfast Islamic Centre, the Polish Association and Indian Community Centre. It was marked Ulster Young Militants and bore the logo of far-right group Combat 18.

The police have said no organised group was behind the violence in south Belfast which sparked the departure of the Romanian Roma.

The Northern Ireland Council for Ethnic Minorities has disputed that during a meeting in Belfast today.

Spokesman Patrick Yu said: “I think there is no doubt it was organised against those families.”

He said the latest letter was simply designed to scare people and pointed out that usually when an attack was planned the perpetrators issued no warning.

“It really is more about trying to reignite the issue.”

Seems the North is developing a serious racism problem. I was always thought it was inevitable given the tribal sectarianism but the fact this is happening on our own Island is going to see us all tarred with the same brush internationally. Serious and bloody awful embarrasing....interestingly I have yet to see Republican groups issue such threats. The Loyalists simply carrying on their traits of hatred.

Also interestingly a book im reading suggests that in the US deep south alot of the loud mouth racists that steered alot of sh*t there are descendants of "Ulster Scots" - now is'nt that interesting....I don't know what it is with them. They just like to hate. Unite with that? No way I say.....

Loyalists? Racists? Who'd a thunk it?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

They seem to get great craic out of burning the tri colour - it's so delinquent when you think about it. Given our history you would think it tradition here to burn UJ's...but we don't because we would look retarded if we actually enjoyed doing that. You would have to wonder about the mentality overall. They may not do anything to immigrants but the Catholic population in hospital will have it's traditional increase no doubt.

Would it be possible please not to mention Northern Ireland at all in any context, political or cultural. In this way, it may disappear from the visible
    landscape.

Nobody finds humour in a group of "tough guys" basing their hatred on a devotion to an unelected woman in her eighties?

    Just me then...

A man down the pub told me that King Billy was a gay. And Johnny Adair too. Probably at it together. Through some form of interdimensional time travelling gayness.

Loyalists are just gay. End of story.

If there were more gay people in Northern Ireland, it might be a better place.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 350 ✭✭b28

I think the entire place should just be ignored by the entire world!!!
Nobody likes it, the people are aesthetically/personally vulgar and they are just down right horrible rotten!

If the north had a genocide like in Germany/ Yugoslavia etc, then they'd have something to moan about.
But no, their in a crappy little segment with a maritime climate off the atlantic near wet scotland that nobody wants to visit at all!
There are so many NICE countries, northern ireland is total crap, sooner they realise that the better. they're not needed in the gene pool of the world

I'm pretty sure there's no shortage, but they're all so far in the closet they've gone insane in a misguided attempt to prove their manliness. Hence their love of parades and queens and colour co-ordination.

If they embraced it - and therefore, each other - then yes; a better place.

That's super. The loyalists will have the North all to themselves and will have nothing to attack. I wonder what they'll do instead...

northern ireland isn't crap, in fact parts of it are quite nice and it does after all contain one of this islands few world heritage sites, the problem is not northern ireland the problem is the various idiots up there that bring shame not only on northern ireland but on this whole island

I say to Irish people, dont travel to the north to do shopping. leave them lose out on the finance.
if you can afford it, fly to new york and shop or europe.
leave them suffer up there in their own misery they created for themselves by not wanting anyone to enter!

I have lived the majority of my life in Belfast and I have seen no differnece in the racist attitudes there than to those in Edinburgh or Dublin. (Where I have also lived for a few years)

Minor detail and a bit nit picking - but NI is NOT British.

NI is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, ie not british.

As for that "unelected eighty year old" - I am sure they do not represent her or the majority of people of Britain, Northern Ireland or the Republic. The veiws expressed in the article are probably abhorrant to the vast majority of people of all the countries mentioned.

I'm well travelled, and sick of that sh*thole with its problems.
A friend of mine was attacked up there once for no reason other than being Irish!!
And Aer lingus placed maintenance and services with the north. who the hell would wanna fly there.
they cut down the flights to chicago from ireland in the winter and yet relocated to the north of ireland the heathrow route.
its not like the a beautiful area with model material population with a high degree of intelligence that would benefit anyone!e

your opinion is fundamentally flawed because it is in Ireland and has over 40% of it's population claiming Irish citizenship holding Irish passports.

Your attitude to the north is the exact same as the attitude of the minorities on both sides of the loyalist and nationalist comunities up there that cause all problems and tarnish all the good people who live there with the same brush.

The British Isles unfortunately never had a very cute history:rolleyes:
The northern people are different than southern people no matter what passport they have in my opinion.

Where I'm from we had sailors from Spain, Norway, and France mix with the populations from years and years ago as did some parts of the Irish coast
The area I'm from is peaceful almost different from the rest of Ireland, its on the sea side.
It must be a "genetically inbuilt" anger among the population up there.

I think most people in the Republic who arent hardcore republicans are sick of hearing about the north and that we are made to feel like we should care about what goes on in the north.

I hope we are NEVER unified with the north.

As for the loyalists its hardly surprising that they are carrying out racist attacks. There the guys i love to hate.

No, I'm just sick of people dying and being murdered in such a meaningless part of the world, because of history and religion.
They are different religion, they're nothing special about the population, and little difference really.
Hitler wanted blond hair blue eyes etc, what do the north want? One supreme religion!! In fairness!

What about all the meaningless deaths in Dublin connected to drug-related gang activity? Would you be more than happy for people to forget about Dublin, for all of Dublin to be culled because "its little differece" in the grand scheme of the worlds population?

drugs, prostitution, human trafficking etc will happen everywhere the whole time in every country to a degree. so will murder. the north is different, its an internal war almost!

I dont associate anyone from the republic outside dublin with being associated with dublin, its a different place to the rest of the country

The british isles are in my opinion, a bit more primordial than the rest of europe and with a very small gene pool. draw your own conclusions! The mentality and anger comes from some where!

I see the letter was from a YOUTH organisation. In other words a group of teenagers who have absolutely no experience of the troubles - the 30 years of killing and murdering in the name of .....well, something....- and who are being filled up with the s***e that the generations before them are trumpeting.GET OVER IT.It's done and finished with. Move on. The reason this kind of bigotry lingers on is because of organisations like this - young kids who grow up and are encouraged to live with their heads in the past and taught hatred for reasons they probably will never understand.
Needless to say, I'm not a big fan!

Thats ridiculous. I grew up a couple of miles from the border, does that mean my friend who lived a few minutes down the road in south was different to me?

Anyone who lives in northern ireland a claims irish citizenship is every bit as irish as you!

Its like saying that pre 1922 every one on the island of Ireland was british because the brits ruled the country.

It doesnt matter. The north is a problem. Its a dark age society.
Czech republic is poorer, more disadvantaged, and have 'beautiful' lookin smart people. They had it rougher than the north and is a country that has something going for it at least! The north means nothing in my opinion. Just a bunch of hard done by people.

You're quite funny in that you don't extend your logic out:

The UDA do not represent all Loyalists.
The UDA do not represent all those who will be celebrating on the Twelfth.
The UDA do not represent all Unionists.
The UDA do not represent all people in Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland doesn't represent the Republic of Ireland, sure it doesn't. It does represent itself and to a much lesser extent the United Kingdom.
