The beatles don't have 10 good songs

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5 7gerard77

Thanks y'all for replies. Good to see that there are people with a good taste in music on the interweb these days.

It is staggering the amount of songs they released.
There are some classics lost on the albums that are rarely heard.
On revolver such as For No One , I Got to tell you and Dr. Robert.
Piggies and Cry Baby Cry on the white album also.

I'm not too keen on the Let it be album though.

The beatles don't really have a signature tune like ACDC and Thunderstruck or Nirvana and Teenage spirit.

I'd say Strawberry Fields is my favourite. It was part of the sgt. pepper sessions and released early. True psychadellic song. Cool mashup on the 2006 Love album.

A Day in the Life (serious contender for best song ever IMO)

    Real Love
I Want You (She's So Heavy)
The Balad of John and Yoko
    Across the Universe

It's kinda sad how I can list my top ten favourite songs from one band that were around in the sixties yet I'd find it a lot more difficult to list my top 10 songs from any bands in the last few years. :(

In no particular order, with a tendancy to change.

    I Am The Walrus
    Happiness is a warm gun
    while my guitar gently weeps
    i've got a feeling
    across the universe
    she's leaving home
    revolution (single version)
    real love
    I'll follow the sun
    And your bird can sing

There are just too many to choose. I've worn the hits out, so I'm unlikely to really listen to most of the hits they made. They were my favourites at one point or another though. They are a genre unto themselves. Best band ever IMO, even if I don't listen to them as much as I used to.

    the long and winding road
    across the universe
    let it be
    while my guitar gently weeps
    strawberry fields
    ocotopus garden
    free as a bird
    little help from my friends
    get back
    lady madonna

someone answer me this, how come on most 60s compilations that there isnt never a beatles/rolling stones on the compilation,is it due to royality reasons just just companies refuseing to allow songs be used...

Impossible task - whittling down the output of The Beatles to the best ten efforts. So, I will just jot down the first ten Beatles tunes that come into my head that I really like: (this could be a slightly different list on another day)
    I am The Walrus
    Here Comes The Sun
    Taxman
    Julia
    Paperback Writer
    Strawberry Fields Forever
    A Day In The Life
    Rock and Roll Music
    The Long and Winding Road
    The Two of Us

Hey. It was the first Beatles song I ever bought. When that stuff was put out, you know with Free as a Bird and all that, that was the first time I actually listened to the Beatles. Aside from that yeah I do love it. Love the production. Love everything about it and am sticking by my choice :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,330 ✭✭✭niallon

Simply because they are amongst the songs that got me into The Beatles when I was a kid:

    Blackbird
    Hello Goodbye
    Let It Be
Yellow Submarine (First song I learned on the guitar!)
    A Day In The Life
    Penny Lane
    Come Together
    Get Back
    I Wanna Hold Your Hand
    Eight Days A Week

Yeah, they're singles, their well known etc. but they're the one's I'll always remember first hearing and will stick with me for good, and I'm not even a mad Beatles fan, great respect for what they did for music though.

Hi everyone. I hope I am not gatecrashing but I want to ask you Beatles fans a question linked to what you are discussing. I am a massive Elton John fan but love the Beatles too. Can you tell me what you think of their live duets together at MSG in 1974? If you don't know them, check them on youtube. Thanks!
