IF YOU DON'T LIKE SPOILERS GTFO!!!

Here we go folks, the first mountain stage woohoo! And at last a chance to talk unfettered by the spoiler police!

    (
because it soooo hard to use spoiler tags, right?
    .)

    profile7.gif

    Predictions?

I can see astana working together on the climb and finding out if Cancellara really has taken enough drugs lost enough weight to hang on to yellow on a long (though not that steep) climb. Today we shall see LA don the yellow maillot and the 8th gate into hell will open. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, the sun will turn black and crumble and idiots across the world will rejoice.

Hard to look past Astana (A-Team) so thats the boring prediction. Here's my two outside random predictions.

    1. Mehchov won't be happy with the past few days performances o will try and break today on the last climb.
    2. My man Sastre will fly up the lst climb to try to put pressure on the A-Team

No ... Euskatel Euskadi FTW or ... Lance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 305 ✭✭Billy Whizz

Astana-led group of 15 will contest the sprint for the stage, with Evans taking it. All the favourites will be there, only question is whether Cancellara can hang on.

a thread per stage is better cos that tour de france one is getting a bit long

anyway hard to see past the astana boys. although the way cancellara has been cclimbing i could see him staying in yellow. and theres going to be somne guys putting in some big digs on that climb as an attempted show of strength, Cadel attacking anyone, cos he sure aiint done anything else this tour and he's going to try and get into contention even if ultimately he fails.

contador wins for me blows everyone away i think he may use this one to get the last week and armstrong love fest out of his system.

    bring it on !

(spoilers are hard to read BTW not use - it thought you could turn them off but i couldn'y find them)

Can't see there being too much of a shake up with the main G.C contenders (
although do fancy Sastre to try something though)

Will be very interesting to see in Andorra -who in Astana is working for who...

Lancey to open up a serious can of whupass on everyone, and then do some stand-up with Ben Stiller at a comedy open mic in Andorra.

Predication? Armstrong to take yellow perhaps, but the real race will be Berto, Andy Schleck, Sastre et al marking each other and following him home right on his wheel. Attacks from Evans and Menchov possibly if they feel they can ride their way back into it. If so, they'll easily be neutralised by the others. Euskaltel will be in the break but they'll more than likely get caught before the end.

Reminds me of one of my favourite bars in Madrid. It's called "Luke, soy tu padre". We got some funny looks asking for directions the first time we went there.

Holy f*ck, AVG of 90km/h descending for Cancellera. What the hell was his max in that case!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 65 ✭✭DrGroove

I have to say that was really impressive - just looking at Ab Fab Cancellara swoop down off the mountain was proper poetry in motion - and then just when he catches the bunch he punctures again....:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,604 ✭✭✭petethedrummer

Go on Martinez! what are eurosport saying?? can the break away hang on??

    GOOOOOOO MARTINEZ FROM EUSKATEL!!!!!!!!!

Hmm... After losing out to Simon Gerrans on mountain top finish last year I seem to remember him claiming that Gerrans had said he wouldn't contest the stage victory (why?). Found it hard to believe at the time, sounded like a sore loser.

    1. 16:45 CEST (14.7km remaining from 224km)

Dave Zabriskie and Christian Vande Velde are up there near the front, as is Irish road race champion Nicolas Roche (Ag2r La Mondiale).

Cancellara is suffering big time. Looks like Lance might be in yellow.

I thought the point of this thread was that we didn't need spoiler tags?

Cancellara is 40 seconds behind the peleton. The A-team are at the front of the peleton.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,833 ✭✭✭niceonetom

Cancellara has cracked! LA is virtual yellow! The prophesy is fulfilled!! We are undone!!!
There's no need for spoiler tags in this thread!
