    Hi,

I started back in the gym about 6 weeks ago and here s the programme that I mdoing.

    5 mins warm up treadmill
10 mins running treadmill - built up from speed 8kph to 9.6 at the moment

20 mins on treadclimber speed about 5.5 tp 6.4 but holding on

    10 mins crosstrainer interval training level 3 - 6 speed 60 - 70

I do bodypump classes 3 days a week and also a combat class. I do the above gym programme 4 days a week. I go first thing in the mornings without eating before hand.

The problem is i have only lost about 6lbs so far and although i feel i m losing inches (buying a measure tape tomo) I m getting disheartened!!!

I m now 11.7 stone 5.3" and i m female. I m sticking to a healthy eating plan going by weight watchers aswell I mainly have cereal after the gym, a yoghurt at 11 and then a sambo brown bread with either soup or a low fat pack of crisps. Then apple in the afternoon and dinner in the evening either seabass rice or potato, spag bol or steak and 2 potato waffles.

    Any ideas greatly appreciated

    thanks in advance
    :)

Well firstly don't get disheartened you are doing well losing six pounds so congrats. Don't get too hung up on the scales this in itself can be demotivating. On the face of it I think your diet is likely holding you back. If you post up a detailed daily diet it would be easier for people to advise you. Also I think you should introduce some weight training into your routine (don't panic!) the benefits will be immense.

your diet isnt terrible but its definately not optimal for fat loss either!

ditch the cereal unless its porridge, weetabix or no added sugar muesli - be careful of yoghurt - natural is okay though ... Have lots of salad with lunch instead of one of the slices of bread ... The crisps are crap, even if they fit into your weight watchers points allowance...
For dinner I would avoid waffles and spag bol TBH ... You can add back in these foods once you reach your goal and you should be able to determine how much you can get away with!!

your body will also get used to the cardio routine, try mixing it up a bit and maybe spend an entire 30 minutes on the same machine and use different machines on different days

thanks for the advice guys! The biggest problem i find is lunch - i dont want to eat bread but i m sad to say i absouletly hate salad and have tried on many occasions to make myself eat it but i just cant get into it at all - and if i want to make a life change it has to be something that i actually like otherwise i know that i m not going to stick to it.

I am going to ask for more weights but with doing body pump 3 times a week i thought I was doing ok for weights and that I wasnt supposed to do it everytime anyway?

I will defo start trying to have weetabix or muesli for brekie - i was also thinking of introducing smoothies for brekie but not sure if there is too much sugar in that!

Thanks again and i ll write up my diet starting from next week.

You see body pump is not *really* weight training at all Way to many reps and light weight. No matter how sore you feel you will not get anywhere near you would if you concentrated on lifting heavier weights for lower reps.

Les mills BP class is good for teaching you technique IF you have a spot on instructer. I think you will have learned the technique to squats, lunges, bench and deadlifts through that class so i would advise you to go to a qualified instructer in your gym and go over technique with them on these 4 moves and add in some isolation moves. exrx.net under weight training is an invaluble resource also as it has demonstrations and sample training regimes. Also give www.stumptuous.com a glance also
