Should the death penalty be done in Public for all to see?

    I say yes.

People should know what is being done in their name.

PUBLIC . Every friday night in front of the 4 courts. We could set up veg stalls for ammo and a bookies on how long it takes them to die and it could be shown on TV to replace the Late Late show

A fun day out for all the family, clowns, popcorn, face-painting, people on stilts and a big blood stained axe? Yeh, go for it!

Not the death penalty, but I do think we should bring the Stocks back, set one up the the town square, people can throw fruit, fun for all the family.

Some manner of TV version would work with Derek Mooney presenting it.

They could combine it with the National Lottery show.

Jonathan Ross can host the show!
    Sounds like a plan :D

Oh yes, but only if they're thrown into the Liffey first to determine their innocence.

The Sun can sponsor the event.

    hanging
    Gasing
    electric chair
    the needle
    guillotine
    stoning
    firing squad
Crucifixion (only for crime against children)
Burning at the stake (only for crime against children)

Interesting, although I fear Mooney would be too jovial. A cold hearted slayer like Twink would work best, imo.

No - how fcuking barbaric tbh.

I am always amazed how people get off on gore. The more the better it seems. People taking photos of people dying on the street and such like. I wouldn't want to see another human murdered. I don't care what they did.

I am not asking if we should have the death penalty, only if we had it( bad idea) should it be done it private or in public.

No. FEAR should not be what keeps people from committing crimes. Methods like this only instill fear in people, it does not teach people the true reasons why these crimes should not be committed.

    Education is key.

do you mean it should be done in private where you cannot see it?

The word you're looking for is: execution

"Now don't you see from this role play exercise the hurt that you've caused? You shouldn't have fiddled with those kids and chopped them up, written satanic message on the wall with their blood, and eaten them. Have we learned our lesson? Good."

Given that the death penalty is nothing more than state-sponsored murder I'd say hell yes make it public for all to see.

Well thats kind of the point it'll ensure all those who approve of the death penalty in the first place see just what it is they're actually supporting.

I couldn't care how its done aslong as convicted murderer's,rapists & Pedo's get what they deserve & my tax money doesn't have them living a cushy life in our overbloated jail system!

I still prefer going down the Battle Royalde type route! Dig a big pit, throw every1 of the ****ers in,last man standing gets the freedom of Limerick ;) Hook some cameras up,sell it as PPV to the rest of the world, recession is over :D

    Yes.

Give those tracksuit wearing scummers a choice between a "the running man" style gameshow, or simple gladitorial combat.

Every so often throw in an innocent person for added amusement.

Why would anyone want executions to be public and be made available for all to see? That is mental imo.

Well if people think state-sponsered murder is cool, let them watch.

I can only imagine it'll change their minds fairly sharpish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,971 ✭✭✭Holsten

Seeing some absolute scummer get a bullet in the back of the head would change my stance on the death penalty... doubt it.

If anything it would reinforce my views, justice being done right before my eyes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

Sure why not. If the state starts executing people again the public should be made watch as their effectively the ones doing the killing. They'll soon realize murder isn't as easy and cool as they think it would be.

    That's because you're a grandstanding keyboard warrior.

Tell you what, nip to the middle east and have a look, i'm sure you'll still be all up for it then.
As opposed to now where your just trying to pass off sterile fantasy as reality.

Beyond that, let's have a lottery prize: whoeever wins can pull the switch.

No! We've made alot of progress from the 17th century, lets not backtrack! Let somebody go out with a shred of dignity and not make it a public charade. Death penalty should be the worst possible sentence, not death + outright public ridicule.

At last there would be something to watch on RTE.

Wait a minute, they'd probably sell the TV rights to Sky for a bag of magic beans.

    No?
So a victim/victims family is suppose to just accept that?

"Oh look great! We'll never see our son/daughter/husband/wife/Ma/da/whatever again but sure that fella who murdered (insert anyone mentioned) is being state sponsored for the next 7-12 years,he definitely got what he deserved!"

    Yes I think so.
Why, because we as a society are better than the scum that do these things.

I'm glad I don't live in the eye for an eye era where people followed the nonsense books of false gods.

I understand why these acts anger people, but it scares me how many people are willing to start killing for retribution. My opinion - you are nearly as evil as the people you hate!!!!

I don't agree with the Death Penalty, but I think that prisoners should be used as a resource - they should be made run on Giant hamster's wheels, and generate cheap electricity for the rest of us.

    I'm kinda serious

Also, they should be housed in very basic accomodation, so they don't drain taxpayer's money. And they should be flogged daily - and that should be televised.

I never said I could spell.

I am opposed to the death penalty.

I think the best defence against the death penalty, is to make it public show where it is still done.
