Hi everyone I was wondering is there any exercise that would be good for targeting love handles please.Mine are terrible really flabby and gross!!!!

I love this board as everyone is so helpful and knowledgeable. I am still going to gym and doing alot of walking .I am trying to keep my diet clean (limiting carbs)and I have now dropped to ten stone. I still need to drop another to look better but with all the exercise I feel fantastic .

Thank you so much in advance and feel free with advice and help I listen :D

The best exercise you can do for flabby and gross love handles is table push backs...at least 2 to 3 times per day.

I found that pullups and dumbell rows really firmed up that area for me. Not 100% sure if I'm thinking of the right place for love handles though.

I'd recommend a read of the nutrition sticky, I found it useful or a nutrition book like "burn the fat, feed the muscle" some good info imo. Tracking the calories your eating and it's effect on your weight / bf is a good starting point. If your weight goes up, your eating more than you burn and vice versa. Geting the fat down is what you wanna do I suppose.

    Just my 2 cents.

hey Will, could you explain to me what table push backs are? Google / youtube weren't very helpful.

Is this it by any chance?

    Thanks.

Edit: onahealthkick just got in before me there :)

The love-handle, lower belly area is pretty sensitive to diet - esp carbs and junk food. Cutting back on the bad carbs/carbs in general will show results pretty quickly.

Yeh, he's taking the mick outta you ... table push back ... push yourself back from the table ... i.e. your diet

Abs, belly area and "love handles" are very diet sensitive.

    You know the plank?

    Well do side planks.

A side plank is where you turn to your side, lean on your forearm and foot keepin your ankle in contact with the floor. Keep your body in a straight line from head to toe. So it should be diagnle to the floor. Hold the position for a certain amount of time.

Do 3*40 secs on each side(left and right).

If you dont feel a burn or atleast your love handles tensing up, try push your hips up further and add a slight twist until you do.

Ah, you spoiled it. Will clearly had something great to follow on from the original set up.

The best way to loose way is to push your body to the max. I mean, you need to combine cardio and strength training. That the most important.
e.g. 20-30sec of cardio, then do some strength training.
The cardio itself will not help you loose as much weight as you want particularly the lovehandles!
Have you tried to do some pilates? If you combine pilates and running/swimming, 3-5times/week, you will see the difference in a few weeks. It works fab for me, and it strengthens your whole body (posture, no more back/neck pain etc...)
Cut on all the sugary stuffs, high fat content, and try to keep a log of your calorie intake.. It sounds hard but you get use to it in no time...
Or have you tried to do some bootcamps? They are great, and the instructors push your body (and mind :D) to the max... calorie + fat burning guaranteed!!! Works for me anyway...
