Autohotkey type functionality?

I used to use autohotkey a fair bit on windows. One thing I used alot was the ability to assign text to a hotkey, so you could have the text 'boards.ie' assigned to Ctrl+T, for example, so if you pressed Ctrl+T 'boards.ie' would be placed into whatever document, form etc.. you were using. Is there any way of doing something similar on linux?
