New RS? Get on the waiting list. As far as I know they have all been alocated this year. And if you want one that has landed in the UK already - dealers and private sellers are looking for 3-5k over list for them, thats 30k plus stg.

then i think the UK is out of the question as the VRT will be huge at 36% iirc
but in saying that you could get a much better example with much better history which is probably worth it on a car like that.

the old RS is some machine too, and looks great imo.

what you need to do then is ring them although its very hard to get a human on th other side of the phone, so get as much detail on the car as possible, you will have to ring the seller and tell them that your trying to get a VRT quote and ask them for the chassis number and give the guys in reveue all the details and they will come back to you with a definate quote.

im sure you can email them too, just put all the details into the email and they will get back to you.

Have you ever driven an RS? They are an amazing car, but not to everyones driving style.

I drove a couple of Mk1 RS Foci, and as a track car they were great. However the rock hard suspension and rather overactive diff took away the fun on all but the smoothest roads.

The later ST was in many ways a better road car. Didn't have that badge though.

The new Focus RS looks mean and fantastic.

I think that might be a bit too much BHP @ 305. The VW GTi at 200BHP is surely enough, but even that is probably a bit quick. I hope you have plenty of driving experience and not just passed your test.

    Crazy prices

Mazda 3 MPS would probably leave the earlier Focus in its wake and you can get a 08 one with warranty for 14k with a small bit of haggling!!

    http://www.driving.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=200926194444273

    Unbelievable deal imo:D

Its a practically brand new 155mph performance car for the same price as a diesel passat!

Fuppin hell! That car would have been nearly 35K€ new surely?

Many people would over look that when looking for a hot hatch, probably because it cant really match any of its rivals for looks

As someone who has had a Focus RS and a new one coming in Jan :) All I can advise you to do is:

    1. Look at a few cars and get a feel for what you want. I looked at about 12 of them the time I bought mine and most were low mileage ones,<40k, In the end I settled for one with 59k on the clock simply because it was the best one by far and owned by a real entusiast it had absolutely everything with the car reciepts for everthing even bulbs!! The car had been garaged and when I went to see the car the chap had carpet on the walls of his garage to stop the door getting marked when he opened it!! I would recommend buying from a specialist where you can view and drive 2 or 3 on the one day...

    2. Look at a few of the owners forums and do some research into the common faults that occur with these cars. They are few and far between to be honest but there is a few bits and bobs so know exactly what your looking for and how to find it..

    3. Its probably worth your while trying to find one here in this country as there is a few starting to appear for sale, Most of them being UK cars and still on UK plates, these lads are usually easy enough deal with and cars can be picked up relatively cheap.

    4. Make sure you can insure one of these properly, I had mine insured for 2 months as a ST170 and didnt realise until they sent me out the renewal apparantly they didnt have an RS on their books so had to get a quote from the underwriters then it went up considerably! Some places WILL NOT even quote you for one of these cars.

    5. If the car has not got a FULL SERVICE HISTORY and I mean one that has been backed up by reciepts which can be verified walk away. These cars need proper looking after as they are all performance parts fitted to them. They need a special grade of oil and I would recommend you only use the grade specified and insist that your garage does the same. I had my one with my local Ford dealer and they filled it with a different grade which I spotted on the invoice and refused to drive the car from the garage until it was changed ( 3 days later :( )

    6. If you do buy one make sure and get a spare rim for the car or at least get a steel wheel that you can use in the event of a puncture the stuff ford supply with the car is totally useless. If you do buy a rim make sure it fits over the front brake calipers as they are BIG..

    7. Finally, Most parts for an RS carry a special unspoken about RS tax at the dealers!!!! An example would be front brake pads Dealer price 275 euro!!! Aftermarket pads by the same manufacturer and better spec 85 euro delivered from the Uk!!! As for most other parts you will have no option to buy from dealer as there is very few spurious parts available..

Its also registered before July so you pay the old tax rate of 895e.

Its under warranty for another 18 months and has 184 bhp per tonne:eek:

It lapped the Nurburgring in 8min 39sec with a driver whom had only ever driven the track that day.Thats 1 sec slower than a Porsche 996 Carrera S.Its 60-120mph power is something else :pac:

From racing my MPS on a track, my best lap was 3.1 seconds faster round kirkistown which is round about 1:20 lap time track for me, the mk1 RS driver would be of similar track experience as me and knows how to push it!

yea came on the Irish Market for 34 K in 2006

IMO, looks are something that girls concern themselves with! :D;) performance is is for petrol heads!

Just on a side note on the MPS - 236g Co2, highest tax bracket, the new model is just under the upper band threshold

Mazda is relatively decent value ok, but by goodness it's plain as sin. A good Q car however.

Sadly true. I traded mine in a few months back. Fantastic performance but i just couldnt live with the looks after a year. Felt i had to point out 'its actually a 2.3L with 260bhp etc' all too often! That 08 one is for nothing, i got more than that on my 07 as a trade-in.
