Oxegen Damage Limitation

So I'm heading to oxegen next weekend. I've been doing starting strength for a while and I usually go to the gym mon, wed, fri. Gonna be heading up Friday and coming down Monday. I'll try get to the gym tomorrow (sunday), tuesday and thur, but don't think I'll be able tomorrow... The following week tue, thur sat. then back to normal hopefullly.

Just wondering has anyone got any tips to minimise the damage? Gonna be three whole days of drinking and rough sleeping! Was thinking about cooking a load of chicken fillets and wrapping them in tin foil, would they be ok to eat after a couple of days? I could bring a tub of whey but I think that might be a bit mad! Also I might bring some wheat germ for the bit of fibre! Or psyllium husks if I order them in time! Just to keep everything moving properly ;) gonna be a fairly liquid diet!

Yea im headin up myself so im interested in peoples reponses. But you DONT have to drink! I was fairly well oiled last year and tbh cant remember an awful lot, so this year im gonna take it easy and actually enjoy the music sober.

Also im going to look around for the best food I can get my hands on, im not just gonna rush straight over to Abrakebabra. I suppose the best advice would to be just as sensible as you can be.

like the poster above mentioned you dont HAVE TO drink .. Personally I would go on a major bender for a couple of days, then draw a line and get back to your normal program .. a few days wont matter in the grand scheme of things .. on the other hand if your the type of person who will be racked with guilt then dont drink!!

Water! just drink loads of it before during and after drinking the beer, if it was me i prob wouldnt drink much during or after but id get loads in the next morning and up until i started on the drink again

Bring loads of nuts, compact, don't get squished or go bad in your pockets, calorie dense and good for you. Goes well with the beer too :pac:

Tesco have these own brand cashews now which are salt & pepper on them nicely sized 175g packets.

And loads of water as mentioned.

Haven't read past the thread title... but all I can say is chill out and have blast. 3 months down the road it won't matter if your training was slightly disrupted due to oxegen.

I remember I didn't go one year cos "I couldn't afford the time off training". I look back at that statement now and wish someone told me to cop on and enjoy myself!!

Best thing you can do is drink as much water as possible, try to eat regularly and after that just do your thing!

I always find multi vitamins are a big help when youre on a weekend like this, just double up on them for the weekend! Was there for AC/DC & all the stalls are setup & ready to go!Gourmet burger are there again. Not the healthiest under normal circumstances but its the best (& tastiest :D) youre gonna get at oxegen if you dont pack your own food. Now im hungry again, fantastic!

Chicken fillets in a tent for 3 days though...that's just asking to be poisoned...

I thought somebody should point that out.

    OP.

Whats the worst that can happen??
Seriously, I doubt your weights will collapse.
Even if you fail everything first time back in the gym after, it will only take you a workout or two to get back in progression.

Rock out dude, it doesnt happen every week.

Excellent point, I had 1 day old egg sandwiches a coupla years ago that I'd kept in a cooler bag, though obviously not cool enough, and had to go home on the Saturday, don't know if it was down to that but I've been poisoned by eggs and chicken enough at this point to know I'm never riskin it again.

Yeah I'd definitely stick to more non-perishable sandwich fillings - peanut butter, jam, etc. A lot of people bring packet ham, which is usually fine for the first day or two depending on the heat (because their actual meat content is pretty low I suppose) but chicken or anything like that is a definite no no.

I usually bring rice cakes for munching on. Boring I know but they do the job and are good for soakage as well obviously, though I don't usually drink that much at festivals myself.

    mmm peanut butter

Hmmm i think if you go to Oxegen and feel the need to eat more than once, you are cleary not drinking enough!!

Drink must affect you different to me. Last year I didn't need to eat but it wasn't because of drink.

no u shouldnt drink, its a ****ing music festival, go to oktoberfest if u want to drink.

the serious athletes(like me) don't ever touch alcohol or drugs, but i guess thats what seperates champions from losers ;)

its like anything really, its like a food chain if everyone was ripped there would be no point so u need the goofs, nerds, weeds, fat muscly people, to look great.

i really hope that was sarcasm cause no serious athlete could really consider this http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055605393

This post is correct OP, you may only be doing starting strength, but one weekend off is going to ruin any chance you had of winning that World Armwrestling championship I'm guessing you're aiming for.
