    Hi,

Does anyone know of cheap Accommodation for over the galway races weekend? (Thur 30th July to Mon 3rd August)

Ive tried a couple of places and they are either all booked up or else charging an arm and leg!

There are two groups of us.. 2people in one and 5people in the other but we are all together and are looking somewhere that is cheap for the weekend just.

    Thanks:)

Why not chance looking up some places that are available for rent on daft. They might be happy to rent out a house/apartment for the week for a decent price.

I rented out my city centre house last year during the races, I pretty much always go away for it anyway. My mate that lived there too just moved in with his girlfriend for the week. We got quite a few happy nights in the pubs for the money :D

OP, try the hostels like Kinlay House etc

Ive tried Kinlay House and Sleepzone but they are both booked up.. well sleepzone still has 4bed male rooms available apart from the friday nite which is a pitty- stayed there once before and it was good!

Try the western on prospect hill. I've heard they have just taken over some apartments around the eyre square as well so you might be lucky!:)

Camp in Ballyloughane Caravan park or see if they have a caravan / mobile home for rent. Close to the track & town.

Thanks Des- ill look into this.. it might be the best option at this stage!

It doesn't look as if cheap accommodation in Galway city exists that weekend but an earlier suggestion of a house for three nights might be a good bet. I have included a link of available accommodation but the cheapest seems to be €50 per night b&b. You might consider the Algarve where hotel accommodation is around €20 per night. We are still a rip off here in Galway.

Clybaun? Or my personal fave - Hanley Oaks :D
Regarding the latter (which gets knocked a lot on here ;P) You're not living there, if there's room it's walking distance to town.

I know this is a total longshot but my bf and myself are going to the Races on the Thursday [one of the busies days I know!] and as it was a last minute arrangement, we need somewhere to stay for the night that's reasonable.

I've checked some of the hotels and one gave over 500Euro as a quote for a double room for the night! That's appalling and shocking - I hope someone wouldn't pay that!!

Has anyone ideas where to stay?

Don't think it's advised/permitted to give out ph numbers - people need to use the PM function instead.

Claregalway Hotel, it's not far and a really great location, easier to get in from that side too.

It might not be any help to the OP but I'd recommend www.couchsurfing.org as there is quite a few galway members

I've been a member on there for a while and hosted/surfed many times,
That said it wasnt long before someone was enquiring to stay over that week

    Hi,

We have a brand new family home just opened as B&B for Galway races. 4mins drive to race course (free lifts given to races and town). Simple luxury, friendly and warm atmosphere with huge comfy beds. Dinner available for no extra charge, just warm up yourself at your convenience. Pics available.
Great rooms with expansive views and plenty of room to put in more beds for group sharing. Honest, fun people wanted! How about 40pp sharing (1st time 'open for business' offer :->)

    Thanks
    Kelly

    Hi all,

My dad has a 3 bedroom house available in Ballybane during race week and for August. PM me or you could reply to his ad on www.daft.ie/610893. It's only a 2 minute drive from Ballybrit!

His rates are negotiable and he would like to rent for a week but would consider letting for 3 days or so....

Looking for 4 single rooms ensuite from the Monday to Saturday in the Salthill area for my staff. The websites seem to only have hotels(min 200e) or very expensive B & B's(100e)..If we had to split as in 2 B & B's that would be fine. Can anyone help please ?

You may be right maybe I should say anywhere in the city.I just thought the fact we would block book the rooms including the quieter mon-tue -wed nights the value should be better .Thanks anyway : )

If you want somewhere really cheap you could stay in Nimmos hostel beside Roisín Dubh. That being said, it's pretty awful. I went to the Galway races twice. One time I stayed there the other time I stayed in a B + B in Salthill.
If you want a cheap B + B there are a few of them in Salthill, I can't remember the names though.

I can't help with the b+bs I'm afraid but it may be worth looking at a few short term lettings of apartments around or the student villages - may be a cheaper option.

Try renting a house (www.Daft.ie) instead ? PS I'm always rent my house out for Race Week, its a 4 bed/ 3 bedroom house but its 5 minutes from Kinvara.

I HOPE IT DOESN'T SOUND AS IF I CANT BE PLEASED !AS ITS RACEWEEK AND THE STAFF TAKE A JAR I WOULD LIKE IF I COULD TO LET THEM STAY IN THE CITY.I CANT BELIEVE THAT ITS SO HARD TO GET THE ACCOMADATION I NEED.I WOULD SPEND 1600E TO 1800E ON THE B&B.A GUARANTEED BOOKING MON -SAT PAID UP FRONT .MAYBE I'M OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY IN WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR BUT I MUST ADMIT I'M SURPRISED.AS REGARDS RENTING THAT COULD WORK BUT I STILL BELIEVE I'M OFFERING A FAIR PRICE FOR WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR SO I'LL HOLD.THANKS AGAIN
