Mmmm coconut innocent smoothie... I shall blame someone if this replaces matcha as my study drink >_<

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,028 ✭✭✭✭--LOS--

    :pac:

    matcha?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,541 ✭✭✭anothernight

Yeah, powdered green tea. Tends to be much better quality than your usual leaf type, though I'll also drink gunpowder tea (yes I do realiseI'm mixing up Chinese and Japanese green teas... but they're all amazing for concentration)

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,119 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

Oh the eee sounds like some volcana god thing

I remember being amazed going in to buy gunpowder tea years ago, people and their teas. lived with a girl off boards that ordered them from all around the world

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,028 ✭✭✭✭--LOS--

Oh I know the gunpowder stuff and I was not just enticed by the name :pac:
There's so much in it, lasts ages, need one of those leave in strainer thingys to stop the leaves floating everywhere though which isn't nice.

I find it hard to drink green tea that doesn't have something else in it like green tea with orange/pomegranate or something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,541 ✭✭✭anothernight

A lot of people let it steep for waaay too long. Depending on the quality it can become a bit bitter. And then they say they hate green tea hehe

I guess you prefer nice little neat teabags? Ugh I hate teabags. Convenient though, but tea inside them tends to be the worst they could find. Still convenient lol

Matcha is a powder, so you don't have to strain anything afterwards. Just mix it with hot (not boiling) water and try not to have lumps of the stuff lying around in the cup >_>

Though my usual tea is pu erh.

Anyway, the point is, this smoothie is delicious! Thanks --LOS--

Well some of us are simpler that you los :p

also, dunno if I've ever even tasted green tea

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,028 ✭✭✭✭--LOS--

No not teabags, I meant those spherical sieve things for letting the loose leaves strain. Used to drink it a lot, need to get back into it. Where do you get that matcha powder?
Ye that is my favourite innocent smoothie I think and it doesn't just taste like coconut sure it doesn't!

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,119 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

It does doesn't it...I'd be dubious about buying it before one I Know I like...I like some squeeze one..hmm it has passion fruit in it..can't remember the east

I know, a tea sock :) I mentioned teabags because tea inside them doesn't need tea socks.
Haha I still remember the time my sister used my tea sock to strain her coffee (like, seriously?!) I wasn't very happy. She thought I was weird for being "overprotective" with my stuff. Sigh

And you can get matcha in Asia Market (you know, the Asian shop on Drury St). Seems very expensive (ok, it is) but it lasts for aaages. And it's very nice ^^
I make it into normal green tea though, not into some very very thick beverage for a tea ceremony like the Japanese hehe

As for the smoothie, yeah it seems to taste different every time. Or is that just me? Like not very coconutty, more like, a blend of fruit obviously but changing slightly every time... It's nice ^^

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,119 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

    How coconuty <_<

Probably just the proportions changing of the fruit left as you drink...but you would want mighty fine taste buds to notice something like that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,028 ✭✭✭✭--LOS--

    a tea sock, cute!
Oh ye I know all the asian markets about, guess it's just hard to get stuff there unless you know what you're looking for. I find them cheap for the teas considering how much you get in it.
Hmm ye I notice that with them, have to shake it up but last time I got it, it was way thicker than normal, was weird, I taste the oranges a lot in that one.

god sounds so bad reading back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,541 ✭✭✭anothernight

My usual reaction to that sort of thing is: It's gone off lol
Oranges are all sour and stuff... Does smoothie go sour when it goes off? Ewwww

Asian shops are always better when you bring along your asian friend ^_^

Yeah I find they go a bit, you know, that weird strong taste orange juice gets.
