I am sprinter for those who don't know anyways I was wondering can anyone tell me about any sprinting specific plyometrics training.

It would also be nice if there is a picture or step by step guide on how do do it. I have goggled my head off and I can't under stand any i found.

when I watch my sprint replays I don't look relaxed I feel tense. Also my leg doesn't response fast so i need plyometrics training.

    1. Plyometric work is used for a variety of purposes.
    2. The type of training used is very dependent on the training age, ability and development of the athlete in question.
    3. Plyometric work isn't a program...it's a component of a program. You need to address any plyometric work you do as a part of your whole program if you want to get the results that I assume you are looking for.

I can imagine it must be a nightmare. Very basic stuff would be very simple and effective at a beginners level....skipping would be a good start perhaps It is something that you probably need some coaching for.

The thing is...you need to measure this...no matter what training you are undertaking you need some measure to assess the programs effectiveness.

With weight training that's easy...either more reps with a given weight or more weight for a given number of reps.

You could probably start with measuring some or all of the following...your vertical jump, horizontal jump...actually start there...if you want you can drop me a mail and I'll give you some more tests...to find the right tests we'd have to know what your training status is.

I hope that helps? If you want some more specific information or references drop me a line and I'll point you to some articles and books that might help you out if you are taking a solo run at this sans coaching.

    No
This is not a factor in sprint speed.
The only thing that matters is how much force relative to bodyweight you can deliver through the balls of your feet, the angle you deliver it at, and how often you can repeat that force.

When a sprinter tenses up, he uses more energy per foot fall. Over the course of 100m this eats away considerably at the available energy pool meaning burnout come 35metres usually.

Buy charlie francis gpp essentials dvd, if you want the best matieral available.

    Good luck

Thank you both, I have no idea how to measure my progress only through competition and my results are improving per competition, especially now that sam spending more time on the track than gym.

I doen't know how to relax when sprinting well i try my best but I seem to tense up. Maybe I should start doing yoga :)

    Thanks!
    I'll check it out.

Btw Gpp essentials literally changed my life too ;)
    No exaggeration, completely changed me.

Realist - weight is an odd thing in hurling.
Its not the size of the fight in the dog, truthfully.

Just make sure you're as strong as you can be. Dont purposefully add weight as it might not suit you.
Speed is king. If it was a choice between a yard of pace and a stone weight, well there's no decision to be made. If you can add both, great...

Im probably the worst to advise on weight though since it was never really an issue. The joys of being a fat kid :)

Bounds will get you out of the blocks quicker.
Build explosive power in a horizontal direction.
