    Vassup?

So the Premiere was last night. UK release date is the 10th of July (next Friday), likely to be the same for us?

Very much looking forward to this.

Well I'm going to give this one a miss this as I already know the whole gist...

Overhyped and one-joke Sasha plays another stereotypical character and does some embarrassing "ZOMG sh*t" to show us how stupid the Americans are.....again.

'scuse me while I think of a better way to waste two hours of my life (and a tenner).

it looks funny on the ad..

............yeah that's how they suck the general public in.

Throw out an ad that features most of the action/jokes (Transformers 2/Terminator/The Hangover) and feel let down that there isn't more to it when you spend the guts of twenty only to be entertained by an idiot posing as a gay German idiot. "With hilarious results....."

Just watch the trailer, that's going to be every "joke" in the whole film. Borat 2: This time he's gay.
I thought Borat was woeful, definitely won't be going to this

Borat was brilliant, Bruno will be too. End of.

Alright now that we've gotten the obligatory begrudgers out of the way...

Personally I am looking forward to this movie (loved Borat). If it's half as funny as Borat I'm gonna enjoy it loads.

(Here's hoping people who hated Borat don't go see Bruno and then come here to complain)

Looking forward to seeing this too. Borat was fantastically funny.

I've seen the trailer for this and it looks awful. Also saw his interview at the UK premiere. Borat wasn't great but it was OK. This looks terrible. What next in 2012? Ali G returns when Bruno was so 2009!!!

Went to the Premiere last night courtesy of Spin 1038.. Thank you very much!!

I really enjoyed Borat and enjoyed Bruno immensely too.

I think anyone who laughed heartily at Borat will do the same at Bruno?

Some scenes had me with tears rolling down my face but that's the thing with humour it's very subjective!

    Thumbs up from me anyway..

The Hangover trailers I saw contained very few of the films gags, in fact I would say that it was one of the best comedy trailers in a long time simply for the fact that it kept most of the best jokes out of the trailer.

The Salvation trailer was fantastic. I managed to ignore all the trailers and spoilers for nearly a year when it came on before a film one day and it blew me away. While it contained a number of set pieces it also managed the amazing feat of not showing the entire plot in 90 seconds unlike the Iron Man trailer disaster. Transformers 2 also kept most of the set pieces out of the trailers.

Bruno looks quite funny. I was not a fan of Borat and found it to be a one joke show which grew quite tiresome after only a few minutes. Bruno on the other hand looks to be extremely witty, the talk show clip is fantastic.

I loved borat, i wasn't taken in bu the adds for it and i'm the same with bruno. As whats been said if its half as good for me as Borat then it'll be a great nights entertainment imo.

Thought the complete opposite. Unlike most recent comedies the majority of laughs in Hangover came from the situations and set pieces, rather than the lines or comedic styles of the actors. When i was watching the film I was constantly wonderin when Tyson, the tiger, the baby and the police demonstration were coming up, as they were all given away in the trailer. As for Teminator they did a great job in making that abomination look watchable but they ruined what might have been an interesting revelation about the humanity of the Marcus Wright character.

As for Bruno, looking forward to it but I've heard the staged elements are a lot more frequent than in Borat and it was those parts that always took me out of the movie

I'm looking forward to Bruno as I have been a fan of Sacha for quite some time. However I'm finding it increasingly difficult to believe that everyone he takes the piss out of aren't actors or are people who at the least agreed to run along with the joke. Some of them have to be.

For example, in the trailer we see
Bruno on a camping trip with a bunch of rednecks. The rednecks get pissed off when Bruno starts comparing them to the girls from Sex and the City. Now, I read an article in the papers saying how in this particular scene these guys ran Sacha and the crew out of the place with guns.
Sorry I just don't buy that because if it was true, then Sacha is one ****ing idiot for putting himself in such perilous situations all in the name of comedy.

Well, I reckon it's the scene that follows that where they are all sleeping in their tents that caused the fim crew to be chased out of there with guns! You'll get it when you see it :D
He's got some balls.. I'll give him that!

Isn't this is a Bruno thread? Sorry for slagging off your precious Bruno, but I noticed that I'm not allowed assume it'll be rubbish because I didn't like Borat, but you're allowed assume it's gonna be great!
Hopefully Bruno doesn't have catchphrases like Borat. Idiots walking around saying "That's nice" need a slap to the head

Borat was okay, nothing brilliant. Although looking back there were very funny moments but when I watched it for the first time I only really giggled here and there.

I reckon Bruno will be similar but probably worth watching all the same.

Not really the movie's fault though. Take for example I lused to love Anchorman, but now it annoys me because I had to live through every Tom Dick and Harry yelling 'I LOVE LAMP!" at random for two years.

Say what you like about Bruno/Borat but Sacha Baron Cohen is a comedic genius. He has single handedly crafted three of the greatest comedy characters of the last decade (Ali G, Borat and Bruno). I know this is going to cause some controversy but one could almost compare him to our generation's Peter Sellers. I mean this in the way that he can create and portray such completely and utterly different characters with such ease, somewhat like Sellers' Dr Strangelove.

You guys are all spelling the name incorrectly, too: it's Brüno, with an Umlaut on the U. Pronounced: Brueno, a bit like Düsseldorf. :pac:

Saw this last night at the Movies.ie preview.

Funny in parts though mostly disappointing. Very similar to Borat but not nearly as well executed as that film. A lot of the scenes felt either staged, pointless or very short (running through the streets in the middle east, for example, there's no more of that in the film than there was in the trailer).

Also, went there with my boyfriend... while I thought it was an "alright, nothing special" sort of movie, he thought the whole thing was highly offensive. But I trust everyone knows Bruno is about as accurate a portrayal of a gay man as Ali G is of the average West Stains Massiv resident. I just don't think the better half is a fan of the style of humour anyway.. offensive or not.

Every bit of Sachas' work upto and including Borat was epic. My favourite is the Borat stuff from The Ali G show. 'and when will Nick come'

Borats move to the big screen was exquisitely done, I dont hold out to much hope for Bruno as the cancer that is big budget Hollywood has now sunk its claws into the franchise, I have no doubt that I will laugh my toosh off but there is no way it will be nearly as good as any of the previous work. Im a fan, dont get me wrong but the movies format will be identical to Borat with a different character inserted so it will be lacking originality but so Vhat, hes so hawt right now!

I just fire up Character Map, find the character and copy it over. It's not just for foreign characters, you can also use it to insert some maths stuff such as E=½mv² .

There are some MS Word shortcuts that might work, such as Ctrl+colon then U.

I love Borat but i dunno...there is something terribly hackneyed about a pretentious gay (German?) fashion reporter.
    The Borat thing was fresh.
From what i've seen (interviews etc) i have to admit i didn't laugh once.

Just seen the Ebert review: he liked it, but it's clear that there's at least one scene that will have the Irish censors demanding pixellation, before they pass it as an 18. The review I linked to describes it in general, so don't go there if you don't want to know what pops up.

I read that the producers have deleted a sceen where they pranked Latoya Jackson out of repsect for the family. Apparently it was supposed to be one of the funniest scenes in the movie.

Saw it, loved it. A couple of the scenes looked staged, but generally there wasn't more than 3 minutes between each laugh. And they were real belly-laughs too. If you liked Borat, you'll probably love this.
