I'll probably be shot for this but after much hype I used Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs in 'Medium Glow' at the weekend and I hated it! I ended up going without! I don't know if it was how I applied it (like the directions on the bottle say)but it was streaky. I'm going to try 'Nude Glow' instead and if that doesn't work, I give up! :P

Get out! Sally hansen is amazing haha. Use a tan mitt. Personally I spray it onto the mitt and then rub it on, circular motions. Always works for me. I use deep glow when I'm going out.

    No, seriously! :o
It must've been the way i applied it, but i thought it would be grand to just use my hand cause it said it on the bottle!
must invest in a mitt! :D

Never use your hands for tan. Theres no point, skin can be rough so coverage is uneven, it goes everywhere, and even the shape of your hand is wrong for getting it even. I know there are some people out there that can do it, and my hat goes off to them, but for us lesser mortals...ALWAYS THE MITT!

+3 buy a mitt, plus buy the darkest shade the light is no good :)

i tink its great! ha i even have it on rite now!!! try some moisturiser before hand, that helps with the rubbing in:)

I find it works best if you exfoliate in the shower and moisturise immediately after your shower. About an hour later I apply. I've always done it with my hands and never had any problems. I use medium glow one and put it on very very VERY sparingly and then see how it looks, if I need it I put another layer on. Very rarely though, I find just one is enough generally.

The light one is FANTASTIC if like me you don't like the tango'd look. It just evens out your skin tone, covers any blotchiness and gives a really creamy look to your skin. Love it.

Just beware of any rain forecasted! The stuff runs like mad. It seriously is brillant stuff, definately up there with the likes of St Tropez, nice even coverage. Definately agree with the mitt too, cant have the telltale orange palms!!

Orange palms shouldn't be a problem. The stuff just washes off with a bit of soap.

Totally disagree with this!! It's one of the things I love about Sally Hansen, it doesn't run when it gets wet!!! I usually use the dark one if heading out on the town and the next day I will shower and wash it lightly with my hands and soap then dab my legs dry and they still look nice and tanned, you need to use a cloth or sponge to get it completely off!!!
I know most people use a mitt but I actually find using hands is the best way as sometimes with the mitt it will put it on nicely but if you rub for too long it will just take it off again and it looks quite patchy!! Sally Hansen is fairly drying stuff so maybe if you use a light moisturiser an hour or 2 before applying as sometimes if your skin is a bit dry it doesn't spread really easily which may have been why it looked streaky?
Another thing, was it the "Spray on tights" you got?? I only ask because I remember seeing a different Sally Hansen tan product in the chemist once, didn't pay too much attention but maybe it was just a different product?? (Because I seriously can't believe you would diss Sally Hansen:P)

*Edit: Sorry just re-read your first post and realized it was definitely the airbrush legs you got!! (Have a habit of calling it spray on tights & forgot it's actual name!!)

Is it instant? I can't use that for fear of the rain! What is yer fav developing tan?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 491 ✭✭*Lees*

Yes instant but does not wash off in the rain like other instant tans! It's more like a water proof foundation!!!

Does it not run in the rain or splashes of water??

    No!

I think its brilliant stuff, got it off my friend for cheap (long story-but dont worry, it isn't dodge!) and i was grumbling about the price, then i seen it in the chemist at the real price and was happy out!
I think it looks like your wearing too much make up on your legs at first, but after an hour or two it evens out to look amazing!

This might be a stupid question but does anyone else put it on their arms?*guilty face*

I've been known to put it all over. It's great for a last minute cover up of slightly wearing off patchy tan. It's magic stuff.

I love it too and am a fan of the lightest shade as it looks like you're wearing tights more than an orange glow on me. Great for covering thread veins too.

Has anyone used the Sally Hansen body tan? Haven't bought it in case it's crap.

That's normally my reason as well! I wish someone would invent a kind of paint stripper that could be used for getting rid of tan! Sublime Bronze is particularly stubborn!

    Theres a body tan?

The one for the legs never seemed to work on other parts of my body, except the legs! :(
Which is a pity because i've got THE worse tan on my cleavage!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,604 ✭✭✭xOxSinéadxOx

I love sally hansen, and I always use the light one cos I'm so pale :o normal fake tan is just too dark for me and my paleness. I love the way it covers your bruises and cuts too! fake tan doesn't do that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 686 ✭✭✭insert-gear

Sally is amazing. I use her all over, never noticed any difference between it on my legs or my body. If I'm wearing it out on a night out I would mix a small bit in with my liquid foundation so you dont get the two tone look.

Doesnt really run in the rain at all. Sure the next day when youre trying to get it off it needs a proper scrub! Compared to shyte like sunshimmer, which runs as soon as you look at it

used it for the first time last saturday... baring the legs on sat night due to imense summer heat!!!
    anyway, it is AMAZING

    was totally shocked!
have heard great things about it!
i was abit orange at first and missed a few bits, but after about an hour wen it completley dried in, it was amazing
easy to remove too, and not left with any dodgey tan lines!
    was great!

have a good tan already on my shoulders and chest from the sun we ve been getting, but i used just a little bit on back and arms, chest just to even it out and it worked great

    deffo recommended

must invent in a bottle then so - is it a spray or moose??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 206 ✭✭kizzyf

It's a spray. More like foundation than an ordinary fake tan.

Use the mitt as well, trust me it's easier, I've tried without and it just feels weird! Seriously obsessed with this tan though, in school last year we all loved it, used to refer to it as "Sal", "she" got us out of a tight spot for Grad Night as well!

I find it really good too but I've also heard that there are carcinogens in it and some make up artists have told people to stop using it. I dunno how true that is, anyone else hear anything similar?

I find Top Image or Tantastic really really good, so easy to put on and whilst they're instant, they don't run in the rain either- lasts a little longer than Sally Hansen although the colour isn't as nice

I always call Sally a her. Sally is a legend. She sorts ya out no bother!

there should be a sally appreciation society:)!!

a friend of mine said she heard that too about it containing carcinogens... i really hope this isnt true as nothing makes your legs look as good as sally does!!!
