This Thursday, 2nd July on your portal page....according to the academic calendar.

Such a bloody long time if you ask me, so many of my mates have already received theirs in other colleges.

No time given, i'd imagine noon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,808 ✭✭✭Raoul

It is a joke most other colleges got their results in a much shorter period of time!

A lot of colleges do their exams a few weeks before us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭cocoa

Hah, it's funny how easily people complain about a measly 5 week wait, and will then just as easily complain about results not being sufficiently checked or reviewed. They take this long because they have to go through various exam and progression and awards boards. It's hardly that long at all compared to the leaving cert...

Anyone know what time they are online or do i have to spend the day hitting the refresh button.. EEK!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭cocoa

There's never a pre arranged time (why say 'they'll be out by 12' when, by virtue of saying this, they will definitely be later than that). The portal page system will likely go down for a while beforehand, they're usually out by noon or so, though I think it might've been 3 once...

I know I'll be checking it every half hour or so from 10 =)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,259 ✭✭✭Shiny

I will also be checking from around 9ish.

I remember my final year results weren't meant to be out
until 3pm and for the craic I went onto the portal page at
    9am and THERE THEY WERE!

Scared the **** out of me tbh. Wasn't emotionally prepared....:pac:

Well seeing as they have the Portal Pages dwon from 11-1 every night they could have put them up then, but in all fairness i'm just freaking out.

But the registry decide when to put results up, ISS just have to wait and have things ready...

Shame that the power grid dropped 3 times last night, ISS are rarely ready in a perfect world..

Also results are usually out between 12 and 1,

What did you need to do on the DCU network last night? And surely you can't blame the power grid droppping on them?

Dealing with people/officials from DCU is torture.

Best not to get stressed though, that will just take years off your life...!

Alan Keegan just sent an email stating that Registry said it will be 3pm before results are posted.

Sure, they say 3pm every year, and yet normally they appear a good bit earlier...

    I have
contacted the registry and they have said that the exams results will be
up on your portal page at 3pm.However I can still see the vast
majority of you hitting the refresh button on your browser every two
minutes from about 12 onward. :)

    ... God damn registry. Ugh.

It's past 12 here, so I better start hitting F5 inanely for the next four hours.

Getting very frustrated now... they usually are up earlier alright... I think the registry get off on this... Tis like having 2-3 thousand kids on Christmas eve waiting to see if they are going to be happy or completely dissapointed... Misplaced mother complex... Thank god this is the last time (fingers crossed) I will have to wait for results from DCU!!

Is it true that if you've to repeat anything, you only get a pass in the year?

what effect does this have on your degree?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,388 ✭✭✭Cina

They've changed that for our course this year. I know if you fail a subject but still get an honours grade including the 0 from that then you get the honours degree.

Could be different in other courses though.

EDIT: If you weren't on about final year, then it'll have no effect on your degree. The degree is based purely on final year, fails in the years before don't matter.

    Thanks for the info!

I'm just finishing second year, but in my degree results are calculated 80% on the last two years (40 for second and 40 for third) and 20% on thesis.

Would a repeat in 2nd year, (and an eventual pass in the year following repeat), drag down my degree grade (due to the 40% counted for 2nd year)?

Glad it won't give me a pass degree at any rate!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,259 ✭✭✭Shiny

I repeated 2nd year and still got a 2.1

BTW, what page are people refreshing ?

Portal page - Main, Academic, etc.....?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭cocoa

I'm checking portal and the forbidden page =)

You won't necessarily get a pass grade though. Most courses in DCU allow people to fail a subject and still get an honours grade, so if you do fail one, and you still have a high enough average (including the 0 for that) then you can still get the honours grade for that year. I highly doubt they'd just give you 40% overall.

Ah right, that sounds much better!

    Don't want my dreams of a 2:1 jeopardised by one subject I couldn't stand/pass...

Anyway we shall see at 3pm! (hopefully earlier, I'm going mad!)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 38 Liopleurodon

Sitting in the middle of a heatwave in an unairconditioned office, waiting for results...

Christ... What did I do in a past life to deserve this?

Let's just see if it gets better, or worse! ;)

They don't really have a set time for posting them. People say "round" hours every year, because in fairness, it makes sense that this should be the modus operandi. I've gotten them as early as ten, and as late as four before. Farcical really.

DCU is so messed up when it comes to publishing results. They leave you waiting longer than every other college including trinity and them they make you agonise for hours in the morning not knowing when they will come out. Why cant they just have them up at 9 in the morning!!

ermm, trinity's results are out tomorrow... And I'm sure if you'd prefer, the results will most definitely be online at 9 in the morning tomorrow...
