Go out to Malahide for the day, Howth is brilliant as well, you can have a walk around the head. Do you ever go around the Georges Arcade area?

When I was around 16/17 me and my mates used to go on the Dublin tour bus everynow and again for the laugh, we never actually went into any of the historic places but we used to just have a laugh going around on the top of the bus, not for everyone I'm sure:D I used to like messin around Powerscourt s.c. and Stephen's Green, Metro cafe is alright, its just up from Powerscourt s.c. We used to get the dart around the place too, Bray can be good fun. Also Rathmines is just out of town and there is a bit to do there, nice cafes and that. And up around Camden St. can be nice for just looking around. Hope this is of help!

Well, I thank you all for the advice so far, but I am kinda bored with the atmosphere. Is there a place to go for something else?

Bray! The DART and I think the 145 will get you there in 45 mins to an hour, bar traffic is rough. You have a beach, Bray Head, amusements, a cinema, bowling, and a few decent cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance of each other.
I'm in UCD and our group of friends goes there for a daytrip by tradition each May when we're all finished exams, just a half dozen or so of us, bit of banter and a good day regardless of the weather because you have indoor and outdoor activities available there.

When I lived in dublin i used to just hop on a random bus and see where it took me!Ended up in Enniskerry one day and went to Powerscourt which is savage. Also some of the stops on the dublin bus tour are really good.

Spent a day in Bray on Saturday, first time in 3 years, it hasn't lost its charm! :D

OP - Are we talking day stuff or nightlife here?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

He mentions in his opening post that he's 17 (unlikely to be looking for clubs or pubs) and he's looking for shops and cafés off the beaten track, so I'd be guessing day stuff :pac:

Ah, good point... it's just from the selectrion of stuff he's done, I got the impression it was more evening.

Thanks for the update! Does Greystones still have that one that appeared in Father Ted? I went to see the Lion King in there about 6 months after it was released :D

The op is asking about things to do in Dublin.

In all honesty, there is nothing to do unless you have heaps of money:(

That is why most of the replie mentions the lovely towns in Wicklow such as Enniskerry, Bray, Greystones.

There is so much more just outside of dublin.

Also Malahide and Howth are lovely too. Just make a day of it and get out of the city is my advice too.:D

Yeah it's still there but it's closed. The closest one is Arklow or Dun laoighaire.

Now that you mention Enniskerry, if there are a group of you looking to head out that general direction there are 2 paintballing places in or around Enniskerry. One's "Crossfire" and I think the other one is called "Skirmish", have a look for details online or ring directory enquiries, good bit of banter regardless of what age you are.

    Hi,
new to the boards and Dublin. Checked the retro pages and music but didn't find any answers.
Is there a good 80's night somewhere in the city? Pop 80's ok(Jacko, Madonna etc) but a dj that goes a little deeper with Siouxie, New Order, Icicle Works and such. We had a great one back home and am looking for something like it here.

    Thanks!

depends what you're into, the laughter lounge is always good, can be pricey so the international would be a cheaper alternative http://www.theinternationalcomedyclub.com/
it's a small, cosy room, good for getting up close!

or something fun like the ghost bus, I'd love a date to bring me on that!

I've one week off work coming up (the first week of August) and I'm hanging out in Dublin for the week. What are the top must-see or must-do things that you'd recommend?
