Just saw an interesting topic on those borocca drinks over on mens health. Thinking of adding a ginseng tablets to my diet. I'm already on whey protein and try to have as healthy a diet as possible. Would ginseng have a positive effect on energy levels after training e.g. getting up for work after a tough training session the night before? Any one have any experience from taking ginseng so? Any advice much appreciated!

It's an adaptogen, helps your body cope with stress. So it should improve recovery and boost energy levels overall. I've pulled the odd all-weekender by mainlining liquid ginseng.

Personally, I like it. Don't use it all the time, but tend to add it in if I'm doing something tough.

Ginseng is not a bad stimulant for that extra energy boost and I have on occasions tried it myself. There are different types out there such as Siberian and Chinese. You can also get them in a mix with other supplements / vitamins .

Ginseng is great stuff if you know what you're taking and what you're using it in relation to.There's a few different types. This article explains it better then I ever could so have a look through it! http://ezinearticles.com/?Ginseng-Differences-and-Benefits-How-to-Choose-the-Best-Ginseng-for-Your-Needs&id=420613
I use to love it with Ginko Biloba when I was in the Uk but unfortunately Ginko is illegal to sell here unless its doctor prescribed!(afaik) :(

I have never thought of it as an aid to training, however, over the years I have taken it for a few months at a time when my energy level have been low, due to training and long working hours. In my case it has worked quite effectively.
