Just wondering does anyone on here have one, haven't seen any in the images of beauty thread and I think I'm in love.

Yes, I know the purists will say that it is not a real Colnago, but as long as it is designed in Italy then I trust the Taiwanese to put a frame together.

Also, do anyone other than cycleogical stock Colnago in Ireland?

You thinking of buying or just going to drool?

Buying, but not right now. I feel I need to cement my freddish by going from a bike that is too good for me to one that people can point and laugh at when I'm on it.

The bike shop in Wexford has a large stock of Colnago bikes.Including this one.

Dare I ask what the prices are for the frameset?

    CX-1 is nice too.

Here's a pic from my bike porn bookmarks.

Total cycling, just outside Derry, stock Colnago. I bought a Master x-light from them last year and found them to be extremely helpful, forthcoming with advice and generally good to deal with. For example, they didn't charge any labour on the bike build, or on the wheel build for that matter.

    See:
www.totalcycling.com, Check out the photo of Mike with Ernesto.

For an in-depth review of the CLX and indeed all things Colnago go to:

    www.thewashingmachinepost.net

as he points out, I doubt carbon fibre is aware where it is made, so go for it!

Slane Cycles up north also sell them. Have had a good experience with buying from them before.

Mmmm tasty frame and like an italian sportscar it will always be cool to ride a colnago. I love my Cervelo and think its superior technically to the italian stuff, but there will always be a part of me that will go weak at the knees at the mention of Colnago and to a lesser extent Pinarello. They were the bike to aspire to throughout my younger years and something just stuck, nothing special, just brand.

forza_milo's Master X-Light is pure porn. I want one. The problem is, he's got one already, in the best colour, and it's just not the done thing to copy another man's bike.

afaik Kilrows cycles (wrong spelling) in Cork stock them, or at least one of them anyway, they had one on the window for a while. nice bike but quite boring colour scheme, I loved it when I saw it first but now.... yeah, B&W just doesnt do it justice. Thats just what I think.

It definitely wouldn't improve my climbing times, because I'd have to keep stopping to lick it.

Thanks Lumen. I do like to think of it as a Ferrari, albeit one with the engine of a Fiat 500.

I too am familiar with this bicycle, and it is obscenely attractive.

It's a very nice frame.. Buy it if you got the wedge.

More knockers than in a lap dancing club. Don't mind.

@Dirk - nice bike. But very very like my Dolan Hercules.
Not just the paint job, but the frame design.

I wonder were they made in the same factory.
Would love to see the geometry/tech specs of both frames.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

I would be surprised if they were the same frame design, it's an entirely Colnago design according to their website, would be interesting to find out though.

Wedge is the problem, though seeing that bike has given me new impetus to finding a job soon. I already have an imaginary shopping list in my head for when said day arrives. Thankfully I no longer have any desire to get a car, so any money that would have gone towards one will be spent solely on bikes. I don't even want a fancy apartment or big tv, just somewhere to hang my bikes and look at them. I blame you all for this singular focus in my life now. The number of times I have begun a conversation with "someone on boards was saying" or "a guy on boards has one of those".

What about visits to the Lap Dancing clubs then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

Ha, oh you were serious? I won't have any notes left after all the bike spending, I suppose I could keep my spare change for the club so, but where do I put the coins???

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,831 ✭✭✭ROK ON

Do people still go lap dancing? Got outta that about 8 yrs ago. So last season.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 4,034 Mod ✭✭✭✭Planet X

A friend told me that these are very unsatisfying places to visit.

Lap dancing is like getting all the way to the top of a climb, and then not bothering descending.

They do look similar, but the CLX features the familiar Colnago bulging chainstays and straight fork. Different bikes. Almost identical paintjobs though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

CLX seems to have a shorter head tube and longer stays, but that could just be the angle of the photo.

I may have an intro to Colnago.
The family is a client of the company that I work for. There is, according to an Italian colleague, a very old rare frame hanging in the Md's office in Milan.

When I am back in the office, I will ask the guys how I can get my hands on a Colnago in Italy - will let you know.

Last bike I got, a colleague said to me that I should have got someone in Milan to get me a bike, as I would get a good bike much cheaper.
Damn you btw, I wanted one, but if you get one, I wont be able to have one.;)

I have closet Colnago lust too, although not in any position to do anything about it currently.

Can we put up a sticky somewhere so that we can stake our claim to a particular make and model, which no-one else is allowed buy? Oh, and can we do this for clothing too? In fact, anything bike related.

    No. Grue-on-white works. Grue-on-black doesn't.

My road bike: Carbon black colouring.

    Some day.

But first, my resolution is to stop spending money on bikes, and instead to spend that in training and improvment. (Liposuction anybody???).
