Just finished "Monsieur Pain" by Roberto Bolano and stated "Sins of the father: tracing the decisions that shaped the Irish Economy" by Conor McCabe

The former is probably only for Bolano afficiandos who really, really want to own/read all of his works (stick to 2666 or the Savage Detectives, imho) and the latter already has me hooked

Just finished the Great Gatsby, which I adored. Have started on the Hunger Games to see what all the fuss is about.

I read "My life as a traitor" by Zarah Ghahramani about her imprisonment in Tehran's Evin prison. It is very well written and despite the horrible subject I really enjoyed it. She now lives in Australia but I don't know how she got there.

I just finished reading The Inner Sanctum by Mark Guidi which is an interesting look behind the scenes of Celtic's league and league cup double winning team of 1998. The author uses player interviews to lead the narrative which is an interesting approach.

Tried my hand at A brief history of time by Stephen Hawking. It's actually quite easy to read (I am not mathematically minded at all!) but I feel like I need to read an actual story alongside it, as it can get a wee bit tedious!

So started Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks. Good so far :)

Started reading the Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness last weekend and halfway through the third one now. Great read and not what I expected for a teen fiction series. I bought them for my 13 year old sister and read a few pages on the train home and I was hooked after the first page. I'm sure she'll enjoy them even if they're slightly second hand.

Haven't read 'Any Human Heart' but it's on the list ... not really loving 'Armadillo' but I read 'Ordinary Thunderstorms' & thought it brilliant.

Picked OT up in the airport awhile ago but put it down again mainly because I've too many books backing up as it is.

I finished A Season in Paradise by Henrik Larsson which is the story of his remarkable 2001 season at Celtic in which he scored 53 goals and Celtic won the treble.

Then on a completely different track I started yesterday The Gearldine Conspiracy by Anne Chambers.
