Unusual weights exercise in my gym

    Hello

wanted to ask about an unusual exercise i saw a guy doing in the gym the other evening. was intrigued. never saw it before.

he had a curling bar with olympic colour weights on either end (duh). he proceeded to stoop to pick the barbell up behind his back by the weights, and lift using a combination of shoulder motion and what looked like calf action.

what was he trying to do, or did he have a clue what he was doing??

From what i can gather it was either a hack squat or a behind the back row or a power shrug of some sort....

prob a hack squat, where do you train? was he a big guy?

My vote goes to some kind of power shrug.
