Looking for a name for a piece of equipment

    Hi All

This is a kind of silly question, however in the gym I go to there is a rope attachment over by the cable machines which everybody seems to use for cable crunches.

This rope is a blue nylon rope, about 1 inch in diameter. It is "V" shaped and probably about 3ft long. At the point of the "V" is a loop which allows you to connect it to the various cable machines. At each of the other ends there is a loop through which you can put your hands.

This rope is quite heavily utilised and so I would be interested in picking one up for my self, however I have no idea what it is called. The nearest thing I can find on the web is a "Tricep Strap" which is either a webbing or leather strap in the same basic shape. I have also come across "Tricep Ropes" which have the rubber stoppers on the ends.

Of these two, I the tricep strap made from the webbing material is the closest. However most of what I have seen on the web appear to have velcro on the hand loop end for adjustment and I know from experience that velcro has a short enough life span. I think the rope would be much more durable.

I was therefore wondering if anybody would know what the "Rope" version is called and where you might be able to buy one from. I live in Dublin.

Also are the any shops in or around Dublin which sell weight lifting equipment? There used to be a shop on the north Quays (between O'Connell St and the Ha'penny Bridge, but that is gone a while now :(

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

    Best Regards,

    M

    Hi There

Thanks for the response, but no this is not what I am looking for, I actually have one of these along with a single ended version.

What I am looking for is more like a tricep strap

    https://www.bodysolidstore.com/menshealth/Item.aspx?ItemID=43&Action=104&ItemLabel=Nylon+Triceps+Strap%3A+Nylon+Triceps+Strap

But is made from rope rather than from the webbing material shown here.

I have spent a number of hours searching on the web, but have not come across a rope version. However the one in the gym looks "bought" and not like someone made it at home, so they must be available somewhere.

I have asked the gym staff but they have no knowledge of where it came from as apparently it is around longer them most of them :)

    Best Regards,

    M

    Hi Dubfit/Kevpants

Dubfit: I will try and get a photo, but it is basically similiar to the item in Kevpants posting, only it is fabricated from blue nylon rope rather than the yellow webbing material shown in the post.

Kevpants: Do you know os a shop or a site where I might check these out ? If I cannot find the same made from rope, then these are the closest to what I am looking for that I have seen.

Many thanks to all those who responded.

    Hi Hanley

Cheers. Any idea of the Brand or where to order them from?

These lokk like the sturdiest tricep straps I have come across so far.

They are called Spud Straps and one of the places that sells them is liftinglarge.com. Who I can recommend.

    Hi Kevpants

Cheers for that. I have checked out the liftinglarge.com site and see that they have the long version advertised but not the short. I wouldn't mind picking up one of each.

So I have emailed them to see if they might be able to supply one of each.

Many thanks for your help and the link to the site.

Could you be confusing your S&M club with your gym? Just a thought

    Hi Hanley

Thanks for the advice. I had gone their first as I did not see the short strap advertised on liftinglarge.com, but international customers have to phone in orders. Not very customer friendly.

Anyways liftinglarge.com have already replied and have both available, so I have just placed an order. Just have to wait 6-10 days now  Will be good to have my own straps, as the one in the gym had gone missing when I was there earlier

Roper: No mix up between S&M club and Gym. The S&M straps are much much scarier looking that these ;)

Thanks for all the help folks,

    Best Regards,

    M
