I like the cheesey sort, like Elvis isn't really dead and other celebs/figures who didnt die when we believe they did.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,050 ✭✭✭✭Penn

I also like the cheesy sort, but 9/11 tops the list for me. Even though I no longer believe in a conspiracy about it, the first time I watched Loose Change I was shellshocked. And even though there are parts of it still to be cleared up, I no longer believe in a conspiracy about it.

Georgia guidestones, that is one weird tale, and I'd like to know why those christian fundies didn't dig up the time capsule. That would have given them a major advantage against the NWO.

Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain were murdered.

Has to be 9/11 just because its so obvious it actually happened yet people choose to follow the herd when asked about it.

Oh and the one about Elvis being kidnapped by rock n roll loving aliens will forever be a favourite!

I have a real soft spot for dvanced prehistoric civilizations (not strictly a CT but that kinda stuff is mentioned in the Charter I think) and more mundane type ones, government corruption and intelligence conspiracies.

For me it has to be The Hollow Earth Theory.

    You never know.

    a) That's actually a largely Victorian invention- most educated people since Classical times new that the earth was round.

    b) Yes, you do.

    {World Trade Centre}
I no longer believe in a conspiracy about it.
Well it obviously was a conspiracy! Or an amazing coincidence that 4 terrorists chose that day to fly planes into things... The only question is by who...

My own favourite is one I made up myself...
The guy who tried to blow up a plane with a bomb in his shoe - was a fake...
    1) Why did he use matches not a lighter?
    2) Why has no one tried it since?
    3) Why didn't he just go into the toilet and do it?
    4) You can't detonate C-4 (which the explosive was supposedly) with a match!

My other one is the resignation by Robin Cook from the Tony Blair's cabinet in the British Labour Party soon after the Iraq War began... It was a conspiracy by the Party as a precaution in case the Iraq War destroyed them. Robin Cook would be standing by to take up the reins and be able to lead them back to popularity on the grounds that he stood against the war.

Yeah, I thought so, but there's no mysterious coincidence, it's silly to call it that.

My favourite conspiracy theory? Am... Anything that this guy talks about ranks pretty highly with me (on a comic level). My personal favourite of his is the video where he outlines his reasoning behind his belief that "Einstein was an idot" (that's the video title too, I think. Have a look at it).

Oh, trust me, he's serious. I've been watching his videos for the last year or so. He has been in the news a few times too (apparently he's not all that well in the head).

What scares me more is that a huge number of people agree with him, just look at the comments on his videos.

He does provide brilliant entertainment, though.

OK I see your point re the Daily show, I have re read a fair chunk of it in a more sarcastic tone and,

    NO

Still batsh1t crazy, but in a much more subtle way than I first picked up on

Me. I have a BA in history, and often do machine code programming on my old ZX-Spectrum. I even do hardware extensions, e.g. solder joystick adapters. Therefore I qualify as engineer and consequently can be regarded as scientifically credible. I have done a forensic examination of the said matter, namely an empirical study in which I have thrown a given number of objects at the moon, a number large enough to be of statistical relevance. Here is my data:

Exp. weight and type of projectile v0 accuracy
    1 Stone, 125g ca. 15m/s 0%
    2 Rubber ball, 63g " 0%
    3 Empty wine bottle, 280g " 0%
    4 Another stone, 289g " 0%
    5 Round pebble, 140g " 0%
    6 Brick (slightly damaged), 1300g " 0%
    7 Donut, 75g " 0%

The result is obvious. If there would have been something like the alleged "moon" then I would have most certainly hit it at least marginally. But EACH AND EVERY of my throws missed. The conclusion is without doubt that the moon is non-material - either a projection or a collective hallucination. I sincerely look forward to the time when the Mad Revisionist is dragged to court by the thought police. Then I will publish the "Abels-Ludwig Report" which will most certainly rewrite history as we know it. (Perhaps I get Gord McFee to write the foreword?)

    > The problem with your "analogy" is that MANY persons have challenged the
    > conventional notions of the Holocaust and done so in ways that certainly
    > deserve to be taken seriously. No one has done the same regarding the moon.

Here we see yet another conventionalist fall into the trap of thought-conservativism. Why should we believe the moon-hoax just because the moon-huggers have told us to believe for centuries? Why should we believe stories like the one by the famous "moon-scientist" Cyrano de Bergerac who claims to have fallen "down the moon" which is - as we all know - phyiscally impossible. The number of moon-revisionists is growing every day.

We deserve to be taken at least as seriously as the Holocaust-revisionists!

Also the whole big bang theory and the 'origin of the species'. lol

In terms of the twin towers I know it was said that because of its structures people wondered how it managed to collapse in the way it did but you know I dont think it helps the survivors of the victims one bit to keep bringing it up.

Know im talking in general. And yes I'm sure there are survivors campaigning for the truth given how many died. Some have moved on, some haven't. And it is tough on them.
Yes i saw a few documentaries on it. One being that one of the buildings was actually blow up and that it was the first tower of its type to collapse.
