Does anyone else use a machine like this? We got one recently and I'm quite sceptical!

The demo vid's almost soft porn. A girl getting shook about while smiling suggestively at the camera? C'mon like... She also needs to spend some more time on the big vibrating thing judging by the shape she's in.

That is the most ridiculous video I have ever seen.

she's a dirty little so and so.....

and seriously, Black sock with light coloured clothes? couldnt the company spring for a pedicure?:p

I think Nicola is looking for advice on whether this machine is effective, not your opinions on the girl in the video!:P
There is one of these machines in my local tanning salon that I have been using twice a week for the last number of weeks. I started coz was reading some really good reviews of them online and the girl in the salon said it was brilliant (of course she did!) and that I would see terrific results from it in time. apparently 10 minutes on this is equal to 1 hour in the gym although don't know how accurate or even possible that is!
Have to say I haven't noticed anything yet. But then I suppose it can't be doing any harm either so why not?

The fact it is in your tanning salon should tell you everything!

Good point but hey like I said, can't do any harm, right?

I don't know anything about this particular company, but it is worth noting that this machine was designed with older people and the injured in mind...

Whatever about muscle tone, it's certainly no use whatsoever for heart-health, as your heart rate isn't going to rise significantly sitting on your bum being wobbled around. You might as well spend ten minutes using an electric carving knife. :)
She also needs to spend some more time on the big vibrating thing judging by the shape she's in.

Is there really any need for that? So she's not a powerlifter. She looks absolutely fine to me.

Lol at the carving knife! Think I'll stick to the normal exercise...unless I suddenly start to see miraculous results!

Well to me "girl in bad shape promoting fitness machine" = bad fitness machine...
apparently 10 minutes on this is equal to 1 hour in the gym although don't know how accurate or even possible that is!

Hmmm.. bull**** I call!! Still, depends on what ya do in the gym too I suppose. Like if you were literally IN a gym doing nothing for an hour it might be equivalent :D
Have to say I haven't noticed anything yet. But then I suppose it can't be doing any harm either so why not?

Not gonna hurt you... the only damage it'll do is rob ya of 10 minutes and however much it costs!

Thing is tho, the REAL damage is done when people are sold the idea of doing it in lieu of a proper exercise program of some sort!

Is excessive adipose tissue in the abdominal area fine?

Come on now, she's hardly excessively fat.

You comment confuses me?? Am. Powerlifters generally don't look like the traditional picture of fitness..

My problem's her poor posture and her belly button eating her t-shirt.

    vibro-girl.jpg

You'd think they'd get someone in really good shape to promote a product.

u think HER belly is jiggly? its ok, i wont offer to show you mine. Ok she's not super fit but if she was would it make the product more credible?

You wouldn't use Stephen Hawking to market Nike trainers...

You've got to credit the company with using a model that actually looks like most women.

Zamboni, you've said that she has excessive adipose tissue in the abdominal area. I think you meant "excess". To suggest that this model has excessive tissue is, well, excessive.

I edited it cos I thought it was a bit bad.

And yup, a model in good shape would. It's called positive association. What sorta signal does it cast if the person promoting the machine looks average? Maybe that's what they're going for tho... "hey don't use our product cos you won't look great, just ok".

I'm NOT saying she's grotesquely overweight. I actually think she looks fine.

It's very clever alright... just screams "hey everyone, you can use this too, don't worry, it won't make you bulky or horrible looking, just average!!!"

And excessive fat in one area =/= excessively fat overall.

This girl carries more fat than she really requires.
    Is she obese - no.
Is she in ideal bodyshape - no.
    Would I? ;)

The girl in the video is hot, at the end of the day that's all that really matters!

    Thread wins.

I can think of another activity that could burn a lot more calories involving getting wobbled that is much more fun than standing on a plate, and you don't have to get any special equipment for it either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,394 ✭✭✭Transform

vibration plates - will go much the same way ab rollers, slimfast and all the other sh1te that comes out from time to time

Also where do all these failing businesses that are tanning salons get off by selling the idea of fitness and health - i hear they also push fat loss tablets also.

So i pop in to burn my skin, wobble a bit and get a few tabs of psudeo fat loss products - HEY PRESTO I AM FIT AND HEALTHY - NOT!

Reckon I'd get the same results sitting on my washing machine during the spin cycle! :D

I just read the little bullet point on weight loss
Weight loss - Aids weight loss and cellulite reduction - sustainable exercise matters more than a quick burn and quit!

    as

Damn phantom comma. Made me do a doubletake though. I suppose Aids would be a more effective way of losing weight.

Oh my god, I agree. She's not fat at all, by any stretch of the imagination and to suggest she is is promoting unrealistic body image. I personally would love to be her size coz if she's considered fat then I must be of Himalayan proportions.........:(

I think there are so many overweight people around now that peoples idea of a healthy bodyshape is completley skewed.
