Would anyone be up for a shorter midweek evening rideout?

For those of us who work on weekends, etc.

    too late :(

wednesdays are good for me. I'm only on a 250 AND i drive like a girl, so people on 125's (or smaller) will feel oh so important :)

While i do live in the crumlin area, im not from dublin, so route setting would probably be best left to someone w/ a bit more knowledge

im gonna suggest wed 8th july for this one.

    all route suggestions welcome

On the wed spins with Biker.ie we used to meet at the Tuning Fork Pub, head up into the Sally Gap, get to Larragh, and head home through Enniskerry - always a good run. Meet at 6 - 6.30 - home by 9 or so.

I know I've done it before but for some reason I cannot figure out how to plan out a route on google maps... Can anyone give instructions?

Right click on next point -> Add destination

Next Wednesday sounds good to me, hopefully getting a service in the meantime too.

So who wants to decide on a meeting point or a route? :)

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 4,757 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tree

What about 6 at a an inconvenient location :D.

    Jokes.

What do you consider a 'convenient location'?

    What about a route?

I don't really mind where we meet up, even though I don't know Dublin very well at all.

But it would be silly meeting in the city centre as we'll all end up in traffic, when it could be just the guys leaving the city centre that would end up in town.

Next Wed good for me too lads.
I'm only on the bike a month and it's only a 250 as well.

No scope - you're up for it too yeah?
I'm working in Rathmines - based in Clondalkin.

Must have a think about a route - lets get the ball rollin'...

    Good man Zascar

    I like :D.

    Which way? Clockwise or anti-clockwise?

Now, just to get a meeting place - I asume somewhere in BallyB.

There is a Topaz petrol station on the BallyB road - it is an option.

Might get into trouble for this, but unfortunately got to know Iano, mrkennethporter etc and their a bunch if silly f*ckers :rolleyes::rolleyes: Now don't get me wrong, some of the guys who turn up their are sound, such as xxALFxx, etc, but Iano and his little gang are a bunch of ar$eholes who like to think their some sort of 1% club or something. Avoid if possible that's all I can say :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Looks like a nice route Zascar, I snapped my clutch cable today (luckily enough I was only around the corner from Paddys Pitstop) so dropped it in for a full service. Would love a route like that on a hopefully sunny Wednesday evening next week.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 4,757 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tree

    That looks beautful Zascar, thanks.

I shall be there with bells on :)

I was going to go for a ride this morning, but then it started raining...

so, I am going down the pub to watch the game in a mo :).

    Not good.

How are you? Did you walk away?

How is the bike? Can it be fixed easily?

Bit stiff all over, wrist is turning a nice shade of black :pac:

Bike isn't running, handlebars are in the shape of a boomerang, footpeg is gone, gear linkage is kaput, mirrors are both wrecked, clutch lever bent. I'm sure theres more that I haven't seen yet.

That's a sh1t one man. Least you got the first tumble out of the way.

Most of what you said sounds easily fixable.

Bike not running-is engine turning over or completely dead?

    Ay least you are OKish.
Did you get checked out by the Doc?
If you can make it to your computer to type, then you are OK.

Unfortunately for the bike, what that takes is money - something that I do not have at the moment.

Get it fixed as soon as you can, and get back on the road.

It's trying to turn over, I think its a fuel problem but I won't know till I start stripping it down.

Thanks, was there today where I came off and theres a load of diesel / oil stains on the road. I think the days of hot weather meant all the oil & stuff got soaked into the road, the heavy rain starting washing it up.

    You are sooo right.

I was out today, and saw a whole lot of oil patches on the road, and more on the round-abouts. Felt the back wheel moving around a bit, so decided to go home and take the car instead.

Hey, Kamikazi, sorry to hear about the spill!

Problem with falling off at low speed is the natural tendency to put out your hand to stop you falling. There is a nasty little bugger of a bone (Scaphoid) which can easily break and whilst it does easily repair, if it goes unnoticed, it can heal incorrectly resulting in it having to be reset.

I only speak from experience - similar to yours apart from on the temporary cat's eyes on the m50 and the rain.

I went to the doc, who sent me to James's with specific instructions for an x-ray for that bone and it cost nothing other than the doc's fees. Turned out I was fine but my wrist was hurting for about a week all told, so if it is paining you at all, do get it checked.

On a lighter note, interesting you heading for a bros. Remember once you get a twin it'll be difficult to go back :pac: Onwards and upwards ...

    take it easy.

    L.

Just a quick note, that road from kippure to laragh is majorly crap and bumpy for the first two thirds so take it easy. My poor aul sporty suspension was not impressed with it last time out, fine for any of you'se with big trailie style bikes though :D

I'll see how I go this week whether I make it along or not.
