Hey everyone have read the stickies especially the one on nutrition and supplemants, very interesting reading. My problem is i dont seem to be taking in anywhere enough protein in my diet.

Ive browsed through the links posted in other forums such as myprotein.co.uk and others. My problem is as a novice who has only started in the gym 6 weeks ago i dont know where to start every website has 10 or more different whey protein product. My question is basically which protein supplement represents the best value for money and highest intake of protein.

Any advice, links or opinions are greatly appreciated.

I know this isn't the answer you're looking but if you say you aren't taking in nearly enough protien then supplements alone won't solve that. I (like most others on the forum I would imagine) would be inclined to say increase your intake of high protien foods like lean meat, chicken, eggs & dairy products.

I got for the cheapest unflavoured one. The cheapest per kilo is not always the best value. e.g. if you got 1kg of 90% protein for €9 then I would favour that over 1kg of 80% protein priced at €8.50. i.e. you are getting more protein per euro with the 90% one.

I just got this one last week. http://www.myprotein.co.uk/bulk-supplies/unflavoured-protein/impact-whey-protein-(unflavoured)/

Some more expensive ones have lower carbs or lactose etc. Others are suited to veggies & vegans. Some might have dairy allergies etc. Casein is slow release so some people take it at night, but if you mix milk with whey it mimics this effect and slows down release. Casein is usually twice the price too.

But get try and get plenty in your normal diet anyway chicken, meat, nuts, eggs. I consider whey part of my normal diet, I use it in lots of things and like the taste.,

Just to add, I get unflavoured but never eat it unflavoured. I have strawberry sugar free flavouring, also on myprotein. This means I can add it to my own taste, i.e. some days I do not want an overpowering flavour. I can also add this flavouring to other foods, like oats & milk. Also means I can use the unflavoured whey in other recipies without imparting an unwanted flavour.

I also flavour with cocoa or chocolate milkshake mixtures, is also nice with pineapple juice, think it reminds me of pina coladas!

I use some Nesquik millkshake powder to flavour it, unfortunately it's mostly suger. Never thought of pineapple juice though, must try it.

Does anyone know if a clumpy shake is absorbed as well a fine solution of powder? My protein is soy, so I figure it just doesn't dissolve well.
