was just thinking the other day i still don't really know what happened in the end...

apart from them finding earth... can any explain in one sentence what happened

eg the cylons a had civil war and one side wanted to help the humans find earth so the humans helped them fight the other cylons, then they found earth...

    is that right?

Surviving humans from the 12 coloneys and the rebel Cylons settled on Earth 2.0 together. They did away with all technology in order to try and stop the repeating cycle of human creates cylon, cylon evolving and destroys man. We are their descendants but we are left wondering if the cycle is broken or just continueing at a slower pace this time as we head towards creating AI again.

We are lead to believe that the other Cylons were destroyed on the coloney when it was crushed in the gravity well of the black hole. The rebel Centurions were given free will and decided to seek out their own destiny. We don't know what has happened to them in 150,000 years since then, if they evolved or will ever return.

    lots of don't knows there

    pretty anti-climatic

it finished up very quickly in that last season

    why is the plan necessary?

Em..... The Cylons were created by Humans and tried to kill the humans but the humans survived and went on the run and the cylons followed and tried to kill them but couldn't and they decided to not kill them and in the end they all lived happily ever after together but the big reveal is that God helped to save Humanity and Cylons so that they could find a way to peacefully co-exist and break the cycle of death. gasp  Thats one sentence, right?

    Just watch the damn show!

The plan as in "The Plan"?

A cynic would say that it's an attempt to squeeze extra revenue.

On the other hand, I've always liked the same story being told from two different perspectives. Extra insight, perspective, motivation. That's why I'm interested in seeing it.

I agree with the above statement completely. Looking forward to The Plan very much.

How on earth did you miss perhaps the most consistent plot point of the show?

    where was god?

You never see "God" and its left unclear as to what "God" actually means but you do see "Angels of God" throughout the whole series. The Six that only Baltar can see is an "Angel" sent to guide him. Caprica Six actually see's an "Angel" in the image of Baltar. Kara Thrace died and ressurrected (like Jesus) so that she could play her part in getting humanity and Cylons to find peace and a home planet.

There are other instances throughout the series that leaves you wondering how they keep escaping total destruction, which could lead you to believe that there was Divine intervention trying to prevent it.

Remember.... Its called "God" but its really only a word that describes a higher power.

    exactly

    the end was

kara died and resurrected a few series back which enabled her to channel the coordinates. so were the carvil cylons destroyed by chance too.

If you don't understand that there was a higher power at work, orchestrating events and trying to break the cycle, even after what the last few posters explained for you, then I don't know what more can be done.

    Try google.

Yeah I really don't know how much more can be explained. I would really urge you to watch every episode with no distractions and concentrate. It should be completely clear to you. Wikipedia is a good source of info too if you really want to know whats goin on.

see usually when god mysterious ways are in a story, you can put the events down to god, but there also some real action that happens with earthly actors, where it seems like god didn't need to do anything. you have to choose which is true, so i was asking what actually happened.

again 'its was magic' ain't an answer.

    where was god?
The guy reading National Geographic at the end:

    bsg-finale-rdm-425x242.png

    I'm serious too.

The finale was completely littered with Deus Ex Machina. And then - out of all the possible scenes - RDM decides to have a cameo in the final scene in which god is discussed and his bearded face fills half the screen. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

He may not have looked right into the camera or been lowered on to the stage but I consider this breaking the fourth wall.
