21-10 to the Lions, SA struggling to get shots at goal.

    British & Irish Lions
28 - 12 of course to the boks...1 try for Lions with 3 for boks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

23-17 to the Lions - Try from Bowe and Heaslip, 2 conversions and 3 penalties to Jones, Try for Habana and Spies with only 1 penalty hit.

By the way, hope no ones foolish enough to pick a saffer as their kicker in the Fantasy Lions, not worth it at all :)

33 - 15 to SA. Don't give the Lions much hope at the breakdown.

I have a feeling the Lions will just edge it.

Lions are 9/4, SA are 1/3.

9/4 is a decent price imo.

My prediction comes down to Ruan Pienaar at 10, I don't rate him tbh.
Hopefully Morne Steyn will stay rooted to the bench/stands for the entire series.

Lions to win by less than ten, and to win the series overall 2-1. I believe the odds for sat are 5-2 for a lions win and 5-2 on for a saffers win. For the lions to win 2-1 the bookies are offering something ridiculous like 11-2. For a 3-0 win you can get 16-1 which I must admit is tempting, even if it will never happen.

P.S A draw is 22-1 for sat......anyone tempted for a repeat of the last match of 1974?

    3 - 0 is unlikely.

Ellis Park is SA's Thomond Park so the 3rd test is a write off.

The Lions must win the 1st test.

Maybe Crash should start a poll:

    SA Win or Lions Win

Lions by 4. I think the Boks are under-prepared, their decision making will suffer from a lack of games. The Lions back 5 have been razor sharp, they WILL make breaks and create scores. A lot might depend on how the ref call sthe breakdown and scrums. Lions scrum and lineout has been pretty much perfect (when Mears has been at hooker).

I think people are making way too much of the whole not playing thing for the Boks.

They are the best team in the world.
Largely the same playing group who won the RWC.
They have talent, skills and physicality.

A few weeks off, mid season, will probably have them fresh and hungry.

Heheh I try and avoid making predictions, but at least when I do make them, if they come true, I want to be able to point it out OVER AND OVER to people how great I am :P

It's all about the breakdown for me, SA have too much.

Roberts and BOD have to win that midfield battle if the Lions are to have any hope. They'll be going off scraps.

    3-0 SA.

i really really REALLY want to be wrong.

fair play to those with more faith than me.

Don't really agree with that. They are a great team, and world champions....but a full strength kiwi team is better. And SA also finished last in the Tri Nations in 2008.

Really do feel that the lions have a chance. The media writing them off is the same as the recent HC semi final where no one gave Leinster a chance.

Difference will be in defence. This rush defence we're operating is an accident waiting to happen.

The Springboks make you sweat blood before you cross their line.

Lions to edge tomorrow, Boks to win series 2-1. I Expect the Lions to start faster out of the blocks and be 10-15 up at half time. The Boks will claw them back but run out of time befor e running riot in the 2nd and 3rd test.
    Lions 24 Boks 21

Which media? Lions media are backing their team all the way and in the South our media is backing the boks but still saying it will be a tough game and not a walkover.

That's why we have a good shot. They will hopefully believe this hype. The best team doesn't always win a cup competition. Look at their recent results. That doesn't look like the best side in the world to me. Not only that, but they are rusty without match fitness.

I think we'll win the first test, but I'm worried about the next two.

Tomorrow's going to be a harsh wake-up call for the Lions...Having said that it may be our best chance to win a test with SA's relative ring-rustiness...Can't see beyond a 3-0 whitewash for the Boks. Seriously hope I'm proved utterly and completely wrong.

Poc will become injured 10 minutes before the match.

None other than Tom Croft will take charge of the captaincy and lead the Lions into battle,it will be there where he scores 5 try's,single handedly leading the Lions to victory.

Stuart Barnes will have an orgasm live on air as Croft touches down the 4th try, running the length of the pitch as he hurdles Victor Matfield while outsprinting Habana who had a 10 metre head start.
Jp Pieterson is nowhere to be seen,he was injured when Croft looked at him in the warm up.

Sky Sports will proclaim the day to be Tom Croft day,the greatest Lions to ever put on the jersey.
Martin Johnson will later confirm this as fact, adding that had Steve Borthwick taken part the South Africans wouldnt have even turned up,fearing for an even worse beating.

Steven Jones will retire, knowing he wrote the article defining the start of the career of the greatest player to ever pick up a ball.
He claims Poc to be lucky to be be even in the same team as the mercurial Croft, who he gives permission to wed his daughter should he wish.

Take a close look boys, the almighty Croft is here to save the Lions pride.
