Summer plans

I was looking over my calendar for the next few months, and I realized my summer is going to be packed!
Next week, I leave for a 10 day holiday in California. In July, I'm taking a weekend trip to Cape Cod to support my friend as she competes in her first triathlon. In late July/early August, I'm going to a writer's workshop in Connecticut for a weekend. Then in mid-August, my mother is coming to visit for a week (for my birthday) and I'll be going to Cape Cod again with her for a brief holiday. And I've recently taken up an old hobby, so my weekends where I'm not out of town are starting to fill up with appointments based on that. This coming weekend is already full!
Normally, I enjoy quiet weekends at home, so this is going to be a complete change for me.
How about you? What are the summer plans for the rest of the Ladies Lounge?

I am probably going to my parents for a few days in July. They have rented a house in Sardinia, then I will be off to Puglia with hubby and kids for two weeks.

In August, I don't know yet....will be working...

    Have a good day!! :D

I had some holidays in may. At the start of next month I'll have to start studying again for the second set of my twice-yearly exams. After work.
I might slip in a weekend away somewhere.

    show off

    (jk :pac:)

i have no plans yet :( been trying to organise a girly holiday but the more im doing the more its seeming like a big effort. stupid girly politics like being guilted into inviting someone i dont want to go on holidays with. ARGH.

all i really want is to lie in the sun for a week reading a book - youd think thats a fairly simple request? :(

Abu Dhabi with work in July. I'm hoping to convince my lovely wife to let me head on to Thailand for some Thai boxing training after the work trip as it would only cost an extra 150 to tack on the flight. If I can convince her that 2 weeks alone with the kids is in her best interests then I'll try to get a fight over there.

Nothing major other than that except barbeques. I love them.

im doing a bit of back packing in finland and sweden for a little under 3 weeks, everything is sorted for finland, helsinki then a log cabin north of that and then north again, ferry across to sweden, and that has yet to be figured out.

Majorly jealous! I wanna go to Scandanavia sooooo bad!!

As for me, just finshed the Leaving Cert yesterday(:D) so I'm planning on spending the bulk of my summer eating barbecue and reading books, neither of which have been possible since some time last year. As for trips, I'm heading over to Germany for a week at the end of July with the bf for a festival, and going to New York in September with the family for a week. Not exactly jam packed but I'm sure it'll be great nonetheless :)

My goal is to get to the beach more than once this summer.

    Ambitious plans, I know . . .

Same as every year for the past few years, I'm going to Portugal for a week in July, with my boyfriend and his family. I'm really looking forward to it, it will be very much reading books in the sun and relaxing. If I'm feeling wild I might poke my toe and possibly an entire foot into the pool :pac:

I only wish that we had the whole summer off to enjoy, like when we were growing up. I honestly wish I could throw in the towel for the summer months and have a proper length of time off. :(

I really yearn for some proper time off too. I can't wait to win the lotto. :)

I highly recommend taking a month off if you can swing it any way at all (and I really recommend putting in the effort to try and swing it). We did it over Christmas (this suited us best because it meant I could take 2 weeks holidays from each working year) and I'm still feeling the benefits. We went to Thailand for the month for a few reasons:

    1) Once you've paid for the flight, Thailand is cheap as chips and
    2) The little one turned 2 a week after we got back (and so her flight was basically free) and
    3) I like Thai boxing (in case you hadn't noticed :D) and used it as a fine excuse to get some training in

It took quite a bit of planning to organise getting the month, but by jesus I felt like buddha himself at the end of it I was so relaxed.

Wow that sounds awesome. I think if (no, when! when!) I return to study I will take some time off between then and work.

I can't complain too much I suppose because I'm working outside most of the time now. I now have very brown arms and back of neck and am white everywhere else. Proper farmer's tan! (white face cause of using spf on face every day, shows it works anyway)

You're not going to believe me but the answer is a big deliciously creamy yes. The trick is to go between 12 and 4 to make sure that there are people around and by people I mean the out of towners. Park the car in plain view and try not to draw attention to yourself. To prepare for such a visit one must be "down" with local jargon. A simple google of "Ballina Speak" will yield some useful phrases as to detract from your clean hair and clothes and thus fooling the habitants into believing you're one off them.

Good creamy-ice luck, soldier. It will be worth it. Ask them not to be slack with the raspberry sauce ;)

This summer... is about me looking for a job. One month on the dole and my brain is already fried. I'm also running lots because I'm planning on doing the Dublin marathon this year, and I want to start taking some driving lessons too. I've no money to go on holiday, unfortunately. :(

I'm working a few days a week and the rest is just going out! Heading to London for five nights in July, and Electric Picnic in September.
When it's sunny (please come back, sun!) I just love hanging around town, reading a book, listening to the iPod (it's like being in a movie...)
Passed all my exams so no worries about repeats :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,338 ✭✭✭✭Busi_Girl08

    *Sigh* :(

    Nothing much planned.
Just started driving lessons which will probably keep me occupied.
No sign of work coming up, I might actually do some volunteer work in Oxfam or something.

Haven't really heard from anyone about parties or going out or anything. Most of my other friends are working or going away on holidays or something.

Still though, I have a collection of DVDs and the new series of Top Gear to keep me going!!

Richard, Jezza and James will keep me company :)

Hahaha not to drag the thread OT but I seriously thought I was the only one who did that! It's like having your own personal soundtrack :pac: Brilliant. I start to look at things differently too. It's fun!
