Got a key cut without the electrics so I could put it in my wetsuit when surfing or diving, but is useful for any activity.
It just unlocks the door, doesn't start the car, so I just lock my keys hidden inside the car, and its lighter than other keys.

Depending on the sport, I'll carry it in various pockets, always a zipped one. Interesting to hear people have lost them out of those, so will have to start examining the pockets before I wear the shorts/jacket.

use zip pockets in shorts or if no zip pocket....

... use two safety pins attached to inside shorts and key through it.

Tried the safety pins trick yesterday with my car key but only had one pin, which opened during my run. Did not lose my key but a sharp pain in a dangerous place gave me a good warning.:o

So I have been running for about 35 years at this stage, and always carry a key... whether it be for my bike, house, car etc.

After reading this thread, I was amused by what people do and I said to myself.... I just either put it in my shorts pocket, or on a shoe lace, no problem.... until last night!!!

I put my key into my shorts pocket, the one with a zip, and went off for a 5 mile run. When I got back... zip was open and key was gone!!! I went around the loop again, but no keys. had to get a spare one from home...

    DISASTER.

    This thread jinxed me!!!!

I wear a pair of gloves when I run, and just stick my keys inside.

I do that too, after having a good look around to see if anyone's watching

I only buy shorts with a zipped key pocket at the small of your back and always put the key there. I take the car key off the key chain so it is small and light. My current one is very light and is pretty much not noticeable when running.
Same here,am really fast at taking off the car key now after 3yrs practice.Adidas shorts pockets with zip are good.

used to put them in an internal pocket in my shorts till one day it ripped out running. so had to improvise and stuff them down my sports bra.
