What's your ideal fry-up?

Following on from the "Should there be beans in breakfast" poll (a definite no-no in my opinion), what would you have in your ideal breakfast fry?

For me, it's two slices of buttery toast, two sausages, two scrambled eggs, two hash browns, and mushrooms. With a nice cold glass of Diet Coke to wash it all down!

Mmmm ... looking forward to breakfast tomorrow :D

Two eggs, beans, crispy bacon, black pudding, bread wiped round the fatty/greasy frying plate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,386 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

Crispy bacon so nearly all the fat is gone, and not too salty. Proper butchers black pudding, proper sausages deepfried, Scrambled eggs. No toast, you should have no room for filler crap!

This was posted in the fitness forum a while ago.

Ok, the type of sausage and rasher are important.

The sausages if possible should be Superquinn's own brand, or Clonakilty, fried, and there should be 2-4 of them per person. The bacon should be hickory or maple cured, and there should be 2 slices per person, and it should be grilled. There should be 2 eggs, fried in the sausage fat, and lots of mushrooms, cooked in butter. 2 slices of a nice mushy white pudding, grilled. My mother's hand-cut home-fried chips with lots of salt and vinegar. The bread of course should be a nice crusty loaf, fresh baked and slathered in real butter. This should be washed down with a pot of tea and lots of apple juice. Ketchup on the side and beans ,despite the argument, remain optional!

I couldn't tell you the last time I had a fry like that! :(

Homemade sausages spicy or breakfast, Homecured bacon sliced 5mm thick only 1or 2 rashers needed, fried crispy, failing that Campofrio spanish streaky bacon whole pack.
Freerange eggs two over easy, homemade white pudding, Black if you have it, but Rudds do the best IMO.
Toast or fried bread, has to be thick, and a mug of real tea.
Tomato's and beans found near the fryup will be shot.:D

Rest of the day off to digest it.

Caprani sausages, Clon black pudding, thick slices of bacon with the rind on, two eggs sunny side up, a spoon of beans and a spoon of tinned plum tomato with juice, rounds of white buttery toast and a pint of hot sweet tea.

2 sausages, 2 eggs with runny yolks, two slices of hot buttery toast, some potato product like 2 hash browns, or loads of sautéd potatoes (that are actually deep fried cubes of potato), beans wouldn't go astray, plenty of good quality black pudding, a fried tomato and a cup of tea.

My stomach just groaned in hunger reading this thread...

Ideal fry-up absolutely depends on the highest quality of the ingredients.

1 eggs, organic/free-range, fried - yolk must be still runny.
2 rashers, proper rashers low water content, high pork content - grilled.
2 sausages, grilled, favs at the moment are M&S pork & apple sausages because the casing gets so sweet and almost carmelised when cooked.
black pudding, agree with rudd's or clonakilty

beans - if im in the form for them - I make chilli beans (tin of regular beans, pinches of chilli powder, paprika, cumin, sugar, dash vinegar, tiny bit of tomato paste, throw in some chopped red pepper at the end for some crunch)

condiments - tomato ketchup and worchestershire (sp?) sauce.

accompaniments: 2 slices of thick fresh bread, superquinn or soul bakerys' pasta dura, toasted with real butter.
    hot black tea, with sugar.

    2 Slices of Crispy Bacon
    2/3 Sausages
    2/3 Black Puddings
    2/3 White Puddings
    Fried Egg
    Soda Farrell
    2 Hash Browns
    Small Bit of Beans
    Mushrooms
2 slices of freshly cut bread toasted with real butter
2 slices of the same freshly cut bread with real butter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,688 ✭✭✭kerash

If you're having sausages you MUST have scalding hot tea, with 2 sugars and very little milk.
Add a fried egg, rashers, black and white pudding, potato bread and you've got perfection :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

    1 Fried egg
    2 (decent) Sausages
    1 Rasher
    1 Potato bread/soda farrell or a hash brown x 2 or saute potato's
    A few Fried mushrooms
    2 Black Pudding
    1 White Pudding
Beans are a maybe... I don't mind them if it's on a menu, but wouldn't put them in myself.
Tomato sauce as lubrication - but not of beans are present.

Served with a glass of fresh orange juice and a pot of tea, with plenty of milk and sugar.

    2 slices of toast, buttered.

    And that's my hangover sorted.

    Mmmmmm
French Toast, streaky bacon and (high quality)maple syrup.

    To the fry up.

I prefer streaky bacon - grilled pretty crisp.

Hard to find a good breakfast sausage - never spicy or herbed or sun dried tom for breakfast. Fried

Black and white pudding - Clonakilty, well crisped - especially the black.

    Well grilled, seasoned cherry tomatoes.

Must have potato of some sort - I like rosti. (sautéed, potato bread, hash brown, or even a few chips all fine)

    NO FECKIN BEANS!!!

Personally, don't go for mushrooms but no objection to them being there!

Sadly, I just don't like fried eggs (I keep trying - they look so good) but if I did I'd have it runny!

Good quality white bread (I like mine toasted) - never sliced pan!!

Mugs of tea (as you like it) made from leaf tea.

    Lidl cloudy apple juice.

    2 Denny hickory rashers
    2 Superquinn saussies
    1 poached egg (2 mins)
    1 grilled tomato
    Black & white pudding (Clonakilty)
    2 slices of white toast

Loads of TAE and some chef tomato sauce.

    2 streaky rasher (rind on)
    1 sausage
loads of black pudding (I prefer Shaws to Clonakilty but I'll eat either)
    1 runny fried egg
    mushrooms fried in butter
    potatoes fried in butter
thick fresh bread, toasted, with loads of butter

No tea. Tea is evil. Sometimes I'll have hot chocolate with it. Or a can of coke.

    Hmmm

If I wanted to go all-out, I would have:

Lots of fresh orange juice, maybe grapefruit juice if I needed that sharp kick

    French toast
    Mushrooms
    Black pudding
    scrambled egg
    2 grilled rashers
1-2 grilled sausages, preferably those Superquinn/M&S herby ones. Or else Denny's :-)

accompanied by some rich, aromatic coffee, dash of milk and a sugar in front of De Telly.

Hi - sorry for going slightly off topic here.

Whats the best black pudding in your opinion.

I used to like the Clonakilty one, but I'm kinda gone off it for some reason.

I've tried other brands that come highly recommended here in Kerry, Ashe's is the only name that I can remember, but none have really impressed me - yet.

    All suggestions appreciated.

Two poached free-range organic eggs - perfectly done, whites set but yolks hot and runny. (All the better if they're from a chicken you know personally, laid that day.) Two thick slices of white sourdough bread, toasted and buttered (real butter, no spread thanks). Sit eggs on toast. Add two good pork chipolata sausages, skinny and meaty preferred. Two slices of streaky bacon, quite thick cut so it's still chewy. Two pieces each of whatever black or white pudding is available (beggars can't be choosers - I find it hard to get here so would settle for nearly anything). A grilled tomato.

Since I can't get decent pig products here, it's usually two excellent eggs, with the fresh sourdough, toasted, a couple of slices of second-rate bacon and a grilled tomato.

4 grilled sausages (superquinn or butchers)
2 crispy bits of bacon (i dont say rashers)
2 eggs with hot runny yokes (not too fussed on eating the white bit if I do it has to be crispy)
Few slices of nice white pudding (black pudding stinks)
Either a nice hash brown or a nice slice of potato bread
    Dollop of chef red sauce

Couple of slices of buttery toast (not too well toasted so you can wrap it around a sausage or two)

Cup of tea (not usually a fan but its your only man with a fry)

Gonna have to knock one of these babies up now this weekend!
