Best protein: Any of nutrition x ones works well. Very good quality and good prices.

Fat burners: I like olimp thermo speed. Again does all a fat burner is ever going to do and is a good price. Im not the biggest fan of burners but if i had to pick one i think that would be it.

Energy bars: Not big on bars really. On paper maximuscle viper extreme bar looks good but didnt do much I found. As in if you take those nutritents in capsule form you should feel a little more energetic. I just felt like i eat terrys chocolate orange after terry was finished with it.

Weight gainers: look for a 2:1 ratio, respectable brand with a decent price. Dont pay over €60 for a 10lb. but be careful of the really cheap ones with 4:1 ratios and crazy amounts of sugar.

Just stay away from the over priced stuff and have a look around old threads and you'll see most peoples opinions on the various brands out there.

I think a better title for your topic is sports supplementation, sports nutrition would imply food and drink. I don't know a single sportsman who uses a fat burner... well, not one that admits it anyway.

So which publication do you ''work'' for? Or are you just planning on loading up on fat burners AND weight gainers?

Mother Nature would be the best brand, by far.

Too many people are concerned with pre-workout shakes, post-workout shakes, etc, etc, when 90% plus of their diet isn't dialled in enough for that to make a proper difference.

For protein my favourite is Impact Whey Isolate by MyProtein.co.uk

Thanks for your comment. I don't "work" for any publication all I am looking for is people to give me their helpful comments on which is the best brand to use for quality and results in the categories of proteins, recovery, stamina,, meal replacements.

So would you not even recommend a protein shake to supplement your protein daily protein intake?

    That's not what he said.

Powdered chicken maybe? Reilly's point was that worrying about what protein powder is best is kind of stupid if the rest of your diet isn't 100%. Even then if you're eating right odds are that you won't need any protein supplementation.

I know you're getting berated and I know you just asked a simple question. To give my comments, without sounding like I'm talking down to you, I'd say:

Protein: Whey is whey. It really doesn't matter how well it mixes, tastes etc. Whey is whey.

Fat burners: No one whose opinion you should listen to is going to recommend a fat burner.

Energy Bars: No one whose opinion....

Weight Gainers: Now I'm just repeating myself.

The comment from most informed people is going to be the same on these particular products. If you want a comment on supplements in general I'd tell you that glucosamine seems to help ease the pain in a troublesome joint and there seems to be benefits from fish oils. Other than that I can't say, that's where my experience ends.

If you want protein, buy whey. Buy a reputable brand, NutritionX, Optimum, Myprotein.co.uk, bulkpowders.co.uk, thesupplementfactory.com, whatever. Get one that's at least 80% and after that it doesn't matter.

While I wouldn't go so far as to agree with Colm and Bobby on diet needing to be 100%, I would say there's fcuk all point if you're not making a conscious effort to at least try and eat in a manner better suited to your goals.

Get a good multivitamin and the best deal on whey that you can find. That's all I'd recommend being really worthwhile.
You'd want to be very tuned into your diet to put a fatburner to any use, and at that they're all ridiculously overpriced for what they are.

I wouldn't recommend any of the above, except Whey protein in combination with proper exercise & diet.
Fat Burners & Energy Bars?? Pure gimmicks! Run 5km every morning and you'll burn fat & have more energy.

I do a lot of martial arts each week, as well as weights & cardio, so I do take a scoop of creatine in my coffee each morning to replenish my ATP levels - but I'd only recommend that if you need explosive energy for lifting and/or sports.

    Op,

Get your diet in order first before thinking about supplementing. Once you have a proper diet set out and as long as your training hard. The supps I would recommend would be a good multivitamin, Whey protein and Glutamine.

    Agree that diet and training should always come first,I have used most "big" supplement brands and tbh they all over-charge.If I was to give an opinion on my favourites;

    Protein....Optimium Nutrition or VP2

    Fat Burner......La Muscle--Fat stripper

Turkey blows the lot out of the water in my opinion its great for toning, building muscle and fat loss, also a good multi vitimin and get some Udos Choice ultimate oil blend

IMO there's no need for a fat burner unless a person is competing in bodybuilding events, diet and cardio if performed efficiently is more than enough.

If I was ever to decide on a "Get Rich Quick Scheme" id go down to my local gym and flog fat burners and make wild claims of how you can lose 4 inch's off youe waist in 2 weeks!
