Lions by 10 but that back row combination has me worried.

A little humour before the game - Guardian
No broadcast interview is allowed to be conducted on this tour unless the player or coach being questioned is standing in front of a board which contains the logos of the Lions' main sponsors.

An official is on hand to ensure no interview starts without the board in the background, and he sparked a heated argument in Cape Town last week.

The Lions captain, Paul O'Connell, was being interviewed by an Irish broadcaster, who started his questions against a back drop of the city's waterfront.

The official insisted that the questioning cease because there were no logos in sight. The interviewer protested and angry words were exchanged as O'Connell looked on, bemused.

The reporter did have a point. The interview was being conducted for radio.

^^^ Funny story - but sky seem to be able to do it whenever they want. Flutey and Roberts on the beach last week being just one example of 'backdrop' interviews.

As an aside - did we really need to start another thread when there's a 4/5 pager already about this game? It just splits the discussion.

I dunno, i'm quite happy to have seperate pre match and during/post match threads - makes it a lot easier for people trying to keep track of how the match is going.

Might be an idea to lock the pre-match thread before the match begins, and start using this.

That's just as good for me - just don't like when this leads to two separate discussions of the game.

Seems a bit strange for Monye having only played on Saturday and being asked to play today and he's still in contention with the 1st test on Saturday.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of the new Spears franchise (run by Cheeky Watson - Luke's dad) their team is very experienced and some handy players in there!...

Will the Southern Kings be a new Super 14 team?

LOL @ ROG on the video segment teaching kids how to tackle, maybe it's a ploy so to give the Lions the edge in 2021

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Potentially, but anything i've read points towards the Ozzies getting a new Franchise in Melbourne. As has been stated, the cape areas a bit devoid of quality local players.

Looks like a good crowd all right - not sure about sold out....the majority of the travelling support would only be arriving now for the tests

First time the Lions being 'softened up' during the tour... I can see us picking up as many injuries in this match as we have in training so far. Owens really gonna have to get a good hold on this match

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,894 ✭✭✭dreamer_ire

    ROG is in :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,123 ✭✭✭Spore

    O Gara's on... start your hail mary's

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭Stev_o

Hook injured. Please ROG you'v been great all tour but for the sake of yourself don't go mad in the tackle area there's being brave and there's getting yourself injured

Trying to find online radio commentary to listen in on this game at work. BBC have it but only for the UK.

Anyone know of anywhere else with liveonline commentary??????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,123 ✭✭✭Spore

crap game so far, starting to lose the collisions. Powell showing the world why he's second choice no 8. Poor decision making isn't helping. ROG had a chance to clear his lines and passed it into traffic.

Great hit by Monye on SK prop.

It's being repeated tonight on Sky sports 3.... I'd watch it later rather than listen to you. Some of the plays need to be seen to be believed!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭Stev_o

Owens either starting putting out the yellows or abandon this match as all SK are doing are coming in with illegal hits and stiff harms f*cking disgraceful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 309 ✭✭spoon

These guys are looking violent at times. That was some hit on Flutey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 309 ✭✭spoon

Good to see Keith counter attacking now he has the space to do it from full back.

    any sneaky streaming links going?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭Stev_o

Earls with another trademark break but his pass goes forward to Fitz. Why did they'v put him in the back 3 earlier on the tour  Putting his hand up for a bench spot or even test 2 or 3 spot.

great by Earls until the pass

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭Stev_o

This is actually f*cking unbelievable the amount of cheap shots this time Barry late shoulder charge on Worsley.

Some horrible cheap shots going in from the SK's, also plenty of breakdown crap. Nigel Owens needs to wake up and not be worried about appearing to favour the Lions. They're popping up in the scrum, high tackles, late tackles, tacklers are not releasing at the breakdown - just ping them until it stops.

Earls just got mashed - fair this time, but the reaction from the SK's players says it all.

He may have overrun Earls' one, but Blair passed the ball behind him, and he just did it again.
