Junior Cert Boardsies '09

Thought id make a thread to all the boardsies that have been posting alot during the year etc. I know alot of regular names from this site like jumpguy, animalcrazy, partyatmygaff (who doesnt lol) and everyone else (sorry, i cant think of everyone) but i thought that all of us current 3rd years leaving the junior cycle this year could post 1 message and 1 message only to future JCers and then we can come back to this thread later on in years and say 'look i remember talkin to this boardsie about history!' and mark our place on boards for a while at least. This probably sounds kinda funny but im kinda sad because im so used to talking to many of ye on boards but next years 3rd years will be using this forum so we all cant chat here anymore.. Im not really sure what this thread could be used for but i guess im trying to get all 3rd year regular boardsies of 2009 to write something on it so i can come back to it in a year or 2 and say 'oh i remember them!'..

Ahh I'm gonna always remember how sad we were. :pac: Well, I hope I helped and my posts weren't too unproductive or vain.

I probably won't be posting much now during the summer (although I probably will now and then, but I can't imagine what about now that my exams are over, I've picked up the habit of coming on when I come on the computer). Ye're all a great help after the exams, collaborate about them, examine our performance and talk about the paper. It's nice to see people's opinions from all around the country. I suppose when we're finished the next big talking point will be the results in September, so good luck everyone!

In fourth year won't we be using the LC boards? If not, sure we'll be back in only 2 years worrying about LC exams.

    im gonna miss the kip:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,992 ✭✭✭✭partyatmygaff

I do lol(Does that make sense even? :p).

Anyways, 2 years from now we'll be talking 'bout debs and how we all did in the LC so em yeah.

Got my booklist today btw, have 26 books for 7 subjects.... WTF????
6 of them for Irish alone which cost €120 euro.

yeah but then there will be newbies on boards that weren't talking to us in third year :p.. just remember the name soccymonster :D because i probably won't be posting on the leaving cert forum until i'm actually in 5th year doing my exams because i'll feel outta place.. i might chat to some new 3rd years though that will be sitting their exams in '10 and give advice.. ah sure! I'd say our set of boardsies were the best to be honest.. the amount of times i've laughed at comments posted..:pac: btw 120 quid for irish books!!! you're joking! i'm buying mine second-hand now.. recesion isn't doing us any good nowadays people!!!:p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,992 ✭✭✭✭partyatmygaff

Yeah seriously wtf I know, the subject I hate the most is the most expensive to learn and the one which needs the most books.

    I'm personaly addicted to boards..
I'll probably be off though for most of the summer after this thursday when my friends finish classical studies..
In a year or so, I'm going to resurrect this thread from the dead and see if there is any '09 JCer's still on boards.. :)
    Don't leave me guys!!!!:D:pac:

What age were you when you joined!??
I joined this year for some reason that I can't remember..
damn, I thought I could un-addict myself, taking you as an example, its preety unlikely I will..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,992 ✭✭✭✭partyatmygaff

Nope its hopeless, once you get addicted theres no turning back :s

I was em just maybe 11/12 when I joined but not on this account.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,962 ✭✭✭jumpguy

Wow 11 is young. Hard to think it's only 4 years ago though... These boards are addictive. Every time I come in I'm always tempted to have a quick pop on the boards to have a look.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,553 ✭✭✭soccymonster

for some reason I feel like this thread is going totally off-balance :pac:
    AH WELL.!
So does anyone have any sisters or brothers doing the BIG JC next year? I have a sister, think I won't tell her that its easier than expected so that she studies for aaaggggeeesss! since she was laughing at me, now I laugh at her...:D
    I'm so mean..:p

    Transition Year

    :p

Or if you're not going to TY,
Leaving Cert (yes, 5th years are welcome too).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 470 ✭✭animalcrazy

I'm always around boards but mostly in the pet and animal section. The JC is over for me tomorrow after technology, just wish it was over now! I haven't been on the last few days so didn't see this topic till now. I'm probably going to pop in and out of here every now and then next year, to scare the new JCs :p Plus everyone has to come on and say what they ended up getting in September!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,553 ✭✭✭soccymonster

    there is already, transition.
oh we call 4th year, transition year in my school.
and when you don't do TY, you go straight onto 4th year and then 5th year, we do the leaving cert.
The exact same as the way you'd call 4th year, 5th year..:p
    Sorry if i confumbled people..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,962 ✭✭✭jumpguy

I'm not doing TY, just as well because I can't wait to go to college...even if I wanted to go to the gaurds, I'd probably do a course just to go anyway (mature, I know). For the JC, I was a little bit laid back but for the LC you really are working and sort of competing for something. I finished on Friday and I'm still coming back here, I can't resist. There's too much boards to look in! Anyone definite ideas what they wanna do in 3rd level anyway (ooooh off topic)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,992 ✭✭✭✭partyatmygaff

Im not doing TY either. If you want a doss year take a break after your LC and start college a year later.

What is the thread topic??? :pac: I'm not doing TY either, all the emos are doing that..
hmmm.. biotechnology maybe?? but i dunno if thats a boys job.. sounds interesting though :p anyone else?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,962 ✭✭✭jumpguy

I was looking at biotechnology, but the problem with courses is there's no ways of finding out if you like them! I was thinking about doing a science omnibus somewhere, to try and have a broad choice and see what I don't like and like.

The topic is...well...the people who were on these boards during the JC in 2009. The last JC of the decade. A beautiful moment in history (...).

Ahh c'mon science is better, swotty or not. Business is sitting and swearing when my trial balances never add up (thank god that's over, if I set up a business, I'm getting a computer to do it like a normal person). Science is just plain ole theory most of the time, know it or you don't, messing around in the science lab and I find it genuinely interesting (although some sections of physics are fairly dull, like levers and mass, and I didn't so much enjoy plants in biology).

    You are exactly like me.!
My trial balances never balanced! those general ledgers were horrible!
I'm doing biology && chemistry next year :D never really had time for physics and I hear that theres alot of maths in LC physics so count me out!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,962 ✭✭✭jumpguy

I'm not sure what I'm doing next year. Biology is a definite, and so is chemistry. With physics my choices are poor. Geography or physics...both of which can be insurmountably (sp?) boring. I'm leaning towards physics though because it seems to be most useful.

If I did all 3 sciences, I'd probably be sick of them by the time the LC comes around..
Maybe geo would be the better option, points-wise as well as interest-wise.. :p
I'm just trying to help so don't take everything I'm saying seriously. I am only a 15 year old :p

Well so am I :P I could do business theory (theory is cool) but I'd have to scratch chemistry. Geography isn't all it's cracked out to be, or so I've heard. Anyway, looking it up, 8% of geography get an A, although 30% get a B. In physics 20% get an A, 27% get a B. I think it might be because physics is a know-it-or-not thing and geography is a tad more waffley (correct me if I'm wrong). 20% of geography marks ride on a project too.

well I'm doing economics so yea..:pac:
Well only smart people do physics and chemistry (reason I'm doing chemistry! joke!:p).. well I hear that LC geo is like just a step-up from JC geo but I wouldn't know :o
I hate geo anyways (sooooo boring!) but then my friends love it so I guess it depends on the person.
20% get an A in physics - Impressive.

Isn't economics mostly theory anyway? What're you doing in LC anyway in total?

The usual maths, english, irish, french..
    and biology, chemistry & economics..
    so 7 subjects..!:)
is it theory? I just picked it because I hate history & geo..:p

    what about you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,962 ✭✭✭jumpguy

I don't honestly know but I can't imagine what bookkeeping or anything would have to do with economics. I'm not 100% certain but I think I'll go for physics, chemistry, biology, German and then the core ones of maths, English and Irish (unfortunately). Most 3rd levels only need 1 lab subject but I think if like you went and did biochemistry and didn't do chemistry you'd find it a stuggle to catch up.

Yeah, good thinking.! I don't know anything about 3rd lvel and subject choices and stuff. ah god!!!
I like Irish. Even though I can't speak or write it for my life, it's...interesting (oh god, never taught I'd hear myself say that..)
Is it just me or are we the only ones posting?:pac:

4th Year I'm going to DCU hopefully to do Applied Physics, Second Choice is Economics, Politics + Law.

For the Leaving I'm hoping to do the usual English, Irish, Maths, Spanish and then Biology, Physics and Business (theory).

I'll prob go to the institute for my leaving, my parents want me to go anyway and I hear its fairly good...

The JC was in fairness the biggest hullaballu over nothing. And I'm going straight into 5th year BTW (1st year of leaving cert cycle, no TY).

    My message to future JCers:

If you worked away for the 3 years, you'll be grand. A bit of revision starting two or three weeks before the exams is perfect. If you're exceptionally determined, a month. Don't start at Easter or something unless you want all A's. And for God's sake, don't stress too much.

Sure, you aren't really going into "5th year" as you haven't done 5 years at school?
    I jus call TY, "TY"..

In my school TY and 4th year are both used.

But then again we also call 5th year LC1 and 6th year LC2
