It will say your marks out of 1200 and 1H, 2H1 etc. Dont know if they often change provisional results. I've heard lecturers can sometimes bump up your grade, like if you are 59.4 they might look back over it and see if they can give you 60

The provisional results ( the ones we have access to before the results are actually "released" per say ;) )DO NOT show whether you have achieved honours, nor do they give you your total!

What is the whole system of provisional results? When do they become official? Like say you were on 67. whatever now, is there a chance you could move up? Or is that it?

    So..no chance then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,630 ✭✭✭Same As

They're after blocking that loophole to get your results early btw..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,946 ✭✭✭D-Generate

They are results that we are not supposed to see. Each year someone figures out how to access results early and they then fix it the following year to prevent that happening.

Anyway, got a first and also 100% in an exam, boo-yah!

I dont think thats what provisional ones are. My results are provisional too, and I checked mine by waiting for the actual release date. Is it not supposed to be provisional so?

Provisional results are what you get on results day, it's nothing to do with this loophole. Results must all be officially rubber stamped by the academic council, which usually happens sometime in July.

I have my results since last week and they're all technically "provisional".

Does anyone know if the BIS results are out? Everyone in my class seems to have gotten them (seen on facebook) but mine are not up on the web service?

    Yup.
First year Accounting and Finance results are up a day in advance.

One result I'm not too chuffed about(Easiest subject yet worst result) but really happy with the rest.

    I passed mine :D

Whats a 2.1? Is that like your GPA?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 156 ✭✭MoogPoo

Yeah its average between 65 and 70, or 2.2 is between 60 and 65...etc. It's all up on ucc website anyway in Marks and Standards.

    60-69=2.1
    Pretty sure

Open to correction, but as far as I know it goes like this:

    First class Honours (1H) = 70%+
    Second class Honours, Grade 1 (2.1) = 60-69%
    Second class Honours, Grade 2 (2.2) = 50 - 59%
    Third class Honours (3rd) = 45-50%
    Pass standard = 40-45%

I got a 2.1 in Maths and a 2.2 in Physics. Hopefully, I'll bring them both up to 2.1 standard or higher next year! :)
