Whats the idea behind a re-feed day?

Currently I'm doing the "Get Shredded Diet", minus all the supplements, with Glutamine being the exception. Coming up on my 14th day - the re-feed. This is due on Tuesday, but will probably push it to Friday, for obvious reasons.

Now, i should really be looking forward to this, but i find myself wondering what the merits of this day are. If its purely for psychological reasons, i'm very tempted to give it a miss. If, on the other hand, it has some drastically positive effect on your metabolism then i'll go the whole nine yards and eat everything i can see.

Body's used to getting sweet FA kcals, body starts to burn/use less.

Body gets a big influx of kcals, all of a sudden it looks like it can afford to burn more.

Body doesn't realise it's been cheated, fat loss continues.

The psychological benefit's good too! Fair play for sticking at it... dunno if I'd manage bodyweight x10 kcals!

I was hoping this would be the case, but i've heard of people reverting to maintenance calories for a few weeks; would one day of feasting really reignite your metabolism that much?

The mornings are the worst, could sleep all day. To be honest, its getting really tough at this stage, first few days were alright cos it was kind of a novelty; suffice to say the novelty has worn off and all i wanna do is eat a Dominoes, 1L of coke and a make-believe kilo bag of Rolos.

I imagine bw x 10 for someone with your activity levels would be considerably harder. My lifts are small to say the least, not that i mind all that much; i'm not prepared to go an a big dirty bulk, and can't afford a clean one, so i know it'll take a while to get the numbers up, but so be it.

As above. Refeeds resets leptin levels and reassures your body that it's safe to keep shedding bodyfat, there's lots of food out there.

Don't know what your self-control is like, but I find it easiest to do a refeed in a restaurant. Order and eat what you like, but no second helpings or doggy bag, and it finishes as soon as you pay the bill.

Self-control has been walking a tightrope for the last 12 days, so now that i know the positives of the re-feed day i'm going to really give all my internal organs a good thrashing!

In all honesty i'm not sure how much i'll be able to squeeze in after the last two weeks, but i won't be holding back, if its for just one day, i'll make the most of it. After that it'll be (hopefully) another 12-14 days of the same bullshit again.

What i really meant is i'm not taking their supplements. For example, i think they recommend taking L-Leucine, i've got a shed load of Glutmaine at home so that'' have to do.

They recommend, multi+ and ZMA, i'm taking a multi-vitamin, and zinc and magnesium before bed, and also B complex during the day. Also take 4 fish oil tabs throughout the day.

Abs+ and HotRox seem to be the fat-burners, not really taking anything in particular for that, i drink green tea, that about it.

What i am worried about alright is not taking the BCAA's and creatine, but i'm hoping that the fact that i'm not an advanced lifter with a lot of muscle to lose will work to my advantage.
