We are looking for a "holiday" where we can achieve our competent crew certificate. Has anyone any suggestions probably within Ireland but all ideas welcome! Thanks!

I haven't been sailing yet, so I'm not sure whether it would be like a holiday or hard work, but I think Carlingford Sailing School do a 5-day competent crew course where you stay on the boat the whole time - the skipper is a qualified chef also, and you sail to places like Scotland and the Isle of Man.

Most places that offer Day skipper also offer CC courses. Do a search on this forum, or check the ISA website. There are a few down around west Cork, which might be more convenient to you.

if you want to escape from the general lifes rush etc try Adrigole, its on the net too under west cork sailing, they offer a weeks training with a certificate at the end. it is down by bantry, beautiful scenery and you are away from all the hustle and bustle of modern life.

the fastnet outdoor education centre is excellent for sailing experience although they do not offer a cruiser cert as of yet but the do have a two 1720's for day sailing trips!

The Kinsale outdoor education centre also offer the experience of such courses and you will get to enjoy the beauty and relaxed nature of the town of kinsale, although there is a lot of repair and development occuring in the town centre at the moment!

Galway has a cruiser course as far as i am aware too. but not to sure on that fact!:D:D

I did this week in Carlingford a couple of years ago. It's fantastic fun and Michael is an outstanding teacher. Highly, highly recommended.

I have just completed the 5 day competent crew course in Galway.
I did it through a company called bow waves.

I would highly recommend them, the instructor Finbarr is excellent and they sail to different places every night.
All meals on board are included and in the evenings you can go to shore and have a few drinks with the locals.
I think the cost is around €795.
They provide all wet weather gear.
