Ok let me do a quicky. My question is that I am very stiff every morning my quads, harmstring and arcolies tendon. Does this mean I just have to see the physio or I am not resting enough. Just a little background for those who don't know me, I am a sprinter.

How often do you train? How much sleep do you get? What's your diet like? (in particular are you getting enough protein?). Are you eating / having a shake directly after training? How long have you had this pain and is it just like normal sore muscles or is there something different about it?

edit: a pulled hamsting can take weeks to heal. At the very least I'd suggest you rest up for a few days, eat well and see how you're getting on. After that, head to a physio if it's not starting to clear up.

See what your coach has to say.

If you're stiff all over and not just mega sore in one isolated spot then you're probably fine. It just sounds like DOMS (google it).

How's your mobility/flexibility in general? Stiffness is normal post session but there's a difference between stiffness and tightness. Detail warmup/cool down.

If its just DOMS - I wouldn't worry a huge amount. just do the same movement again a few times during the day.

If its something more serious - it would be no harm getting checked out

I train 3 - 4 times a day, I sleep between 4 - 8 hours, I take a lot of protein and carbs. I have shake usually before bed and after waking up. Pain usually the morning after trainning and tightness every morning. I am not flexible but am working on it. I think its just a matter of seeing the physio.

    thanks all.

Okay then if you're training that much you're a professional athlete and should have a structure in place for questions like this. Remember this is an open forum so your question could be answered by someone who knows their stuff or by someone who thinks they do.

If you're in a position to train 4 times then you most likely have access to a good physio who can do some movement analysis and flexibility tests.

    I'm guessing that's 3-4 times a week? :)

Anything < 6 is going to be seriously detrimental IMO. I find any less than 7 and I'm below par. I had nearly 9 hours kip last night and today I'm feelin' sexeh!
